The Saucony Hurricane 25 is a highly cushioned stability daily trainer best suited to easy, recovery, and longer runs. Reviewers praise its soft, supported ride, but its substantial build and moderate pace range make it a less natural choice for speed workouts or as a do-everything shoe. Fit reports generally lean true to size, though the padded upper may feel warm and personal fit varies.
What kind of running shoe is the Hurricane 25?
It is a maximal-cushion stability trainer, not a lightweight speed shoe. Saucony lists PWRRUN PB and PWRRUN FRAME foam, CenterPath technology, breathable engineered mesh, and a reengineered XT-900 outsole on its US product page. The layered midsole and guidance geometry are designed to pair cushioning with a supported transition. Saucony describes its geometry as working with CenterPath Technology™ “to help you stay aligned and moving smoothly.” That is the manufacturer’s design intent, not evidence that the shoe corrects an individual runner’s gait.

Believe in the Run describes a dual-density setup, with PWRRUN PB underfoot and a PWRRUN cradle for support. Doctors of Running describes a PWRRUN bottom layer surrounding a larger amount of PWRRUN PB above it, with PB extending into the midsole center. Reviewers’ experience is broadly of a cushioned, stable ride, but neither the construction nor stability category establishes an injury-prevention benefit.

Easy, recovery, and long runs
These are the shoe’s strongest use cases. Believe in the Run describes it as inherently stable without feeling obtrusive, while The Run Testers found it cushioned and stable for easy, recovery, and long runs. Tom’s Guide’s training account likewise says it works best for easy and recovery miles. Doctors of Running reported that the ride softened and felt bouncier after initial runs; that reviewer also noted that softness can feel mushy at slower paces for some stride and firmness preferences.

Workouts and faster running
The Hurricane 25 can handle occasional uptempo running, according to Tom’s Guide, and Doctors of Running found a soft, bouncy feel at normal to uptempo paces. But those reviewers still see it as better suited to easier miles than workouts. The Run Testers found it not especially fast and potentially overbuilt or heavy for some runners. If a single shoe must cover frequent speed sessions as well as daily mileage, its bulk and moderate pace range are meaningful trade-offs.
Walking
The cushioning and stable feel may appeal for walking, but the cited reviews principally assess the Hurricane 25 as a running shoe. They do not establish how it performs for all-day wear or for every walking gait, so walking comfort is best judged by trying it on and considering your own fit and preference.

Does the Hurricane 25 fit true to size?
Fit reports lean true to size, not guaranteed: all four testers at The Run Testers said their normal running-shoe size worked, and Tom’s Guide also reports a true-to-size fit, roomy toe box, and secure heel and midfoot. These are limited reviewer experiences, so use them as a starting point rather than a universal sizing rule.
The Run Testers describe the upper as thick and padded and not especially breathable; Tom’s Guide also flags possible clamminess on hot days. If you tend to run warm, prefer a thin upper, or sit between sizes, trying the shoe on is especially useful.

What do the specifications and lab measurements say?
Saucony’s US product page lists men’s weight as 10 oz (285 g) and women’s weight as 8.8 oz (252 g), with the same published 38/32 mm stack and 6 mm offset for both. RunRepeat’s 2025 lab measurements differ from the published figures; the discrepancy is between the manufacturer’s specification and an independent measurement, not proof that either is wrong.
| Measure | Saucony published specification | RunRepeat measurement |
|---|---|---|
| Stack height | 38 mm heel / 32 mm forefoot; US product page | 40.2 mm heel / 33.1 mm forefoot; RunRepeat, 2025 |
| Drop or offset | 6 mm; US product page | 7.1 mm measured drop; RunRepeat, 2025 |
| Weight | Men’s: 10 oz (285 g); women’s: 8.8 oz (252 g); US product page | not stated (RunRepeat) |
RunRepeat’s 2025 lab page reports heel shock absorption of 151 SA and forefoot shock absorption of 140 SA. It compares those results with a stated sample of 410 running shoes and displays a 131 SA average for the heel result. It also reports 68.4% heel energy return and 74.0% forefoot energy return; the displayed average for the forefoot figure is 61.5% against 407 shoes. These are shoe-specific lab results, not measures of injury risk or how every runner will experience the shoe.

RunRepeat says the version 25 PWRRUN PB measured 33.6 AC on its durometer and characterizes it as somewhat firmer than the prior version while still pleasantly soft. That is a result on RunRepeat’s stated test, not a general firmness scale for every runner.
How does it compare with the Hurricane 24 and other options?
RunRepeat characterizes the Hurricane 25’s PWRRUN PB as somewhat firmer than the prior version while still pleasantly soft. Doctors of Running’s reviewer observed that the ride softened and bounced after initial runs. Those reports describe foam feel; the available evidence here does not establish a complete, directly tested Hurricane 24-versus-25 comparison across fit, durability, or performance.

The Run Testers’ alternatives clarify what different runners might prioritize:
| Alternative | Why consider it |
|---|---|
| ASICS Gel-Kayano 32 | The Run Testers suggests it for runners who want a firmer, highly cushioned stability ride. |
| Puma ForeverRun Nitro 2 | The Run Testers suggests it as a lighter, more versatile option. |
| Hoka Arahi 8 | The Run Testers describes it as a smoother, lighter stable shoe that may suit some faster efforts better. |
| Saucony Triumph 23 | The Run Testers says this neutral shoe has more pop for faster efforts, while some of its neutral testers preferred the Hurricane for smooth, cushioned easy running. |
Who should choose the Saucony Hurricane 25?
- Consider it if you want a substantially cushioned, stable-feeling shoe mainly for easy, recovery, or longer daily runs.
- Try it on first if you are sensitive to a thick, warm upper, a soft ride, or a bulky feel; reviewers’ preferences vary.
- Look elsewhere or compare options if you prioritize a firmer ride, lower weight, frequent fast workouts, or one shoe for a wide range of paces.
