Its PWRRUN PB foam and SPEEDROLL rocker give it a fast-running feel, while independent reviewers describe it as stable and versatile. The trade-off is a ride that can feel firm or dense rather than especially soft and springy.
What is the Saucony Endorphin Azura?
Saucony announced the Endorphin Azura on January 20, 2026, positioning it as a non-plated daily trainer for a range of paces. It combines PWRRUN PB foam with the brand’s SPEEDROLL geometry. Saucony’s stated aim is to make easy runs and tempo efforts feel efficient without a plate; that is the brand’s positioning, not independent proof that every runner will find the shoe efficient. Saucony’s announcement quotes Chief Product Officer Brian Moore describing the design as a way to bring the foam and rocker together without a plate.

The distinction from a dedicated speed shoe matters: the Azura is intended to cover routine runs as well as workouts, rather than relying on a plate for extra stiffness at faster paces. Reviewers generally found it capable across easy and quicker efforts, though some noticed less assistance when holding a fast pace than in Saucony’s plated Endorphin Speed 5.

Firm, controlled cushioning
Reviewers most consistently describe the midsole as firm or dense. Doctors of Running calls it very firm, while The Run Testers and Tom’s Guide note that it feels less springy or bouncy than some alternatives. That sensation may suit runners who prefer a more controlled platform; runners seeking a soft, highly lively ride may find it underwhelming.

- SUPER FOAM: Relish the soft cushion of PWRRUN PB while you put in daily miles, and feel the power of the foam when it’s time to pick up the pace
- DURABILITY & TRACTION: The XT-900 rubber outsole is engineered to withstand the miles with you, placed where you need it to get the most out of your runs
- SPEEDROLL: A hallmark of the Endorphin series, SPEEDROLL is designed to enhance your transitions, creating a smooth, faster and more efficient ride.
- 8mm Offset
- Vegan and recycled materials
Rockered transitions and versatility
The SPEEDROLL shape is intended to encourage a smooth roll through each stride. Doctors of Running describes a late-stage rocker, and The Run Testers reports smooth transitions and usefulness at both easy and faster paces. Tom’s Guide tested the shoe across easy, tempo, interval, and longer efforts and valued its ability to move between them. These are reviewers’ experiences rather than controlled comparisons.
Energy return and stability
In its laboratory testing, RunRepeat measured energy return of 70.6% at the heel and 74.7% at the forefoot. Those are results for RunRepeat’s tested sample and method, not a guarantee of how energetic the shoe will feel to every runner. RunRepeat also identifies stability-supporting features, and The Run Testers describes the platform as stable for a high-stack neutral shoe. That does not make the Azura a stability shoe prescribed for a particular gait or condition.

Specs, weight, and price context
Published measurements differ slightly among reviewers, partly because they do not all use the same method or shoe size. Treat lab measurements and listed specifications as separate evidence, not as a single universal figure.

RunRepeat’s energy-return measurements and stack measurements come from its own laboratory test. Running Warehouse’s fit assessment is true to size. The different weight figures should not be read as a meaningful performance difference because the cited reviews report different size bases.

How does the Saucony Endorphin Azura fit?
Fit reports are broadly reassuring but remain individual. Running Warehouse calls it true to size. Doctors of Running reviewer David Salas found his men’s 9.5 true to size, with a slightly wide forefoot and otherwise fairly normal fit. The Run Testers’ four reviewers reported no sizing issue in their usual sizes. If possible, try the shoe on: reviewers’ impressions cannot establish that its shape will suit every foot.
Who should consider it?
- Consider it if you want one neutral road shoe for daily runs with the option to add tempo or interval work, and prefer a rocker and premium foam without a plate.
- It may also appeal if you value a stable-feeling platform in a relatively fast, high-stack trainer more than maximum softness or bounce.
- Look elsewhere or try before buying if you want a very soft, highly springy ride, or want more plate-assisted punch for sustained fast efforts.
RunRepeat considers it suitable for easy runs, tempo workouts, and potentially racing for runners who prefer unplated shoes. That is the reviewer’s recommendation; the shoe is not a universal race-day choice.
Rank #4
- Designed as an up-tempo shoe, it’s quickly proven itself as much more, equally capable during long, moderate training sessions and sprints to the finish.
- Energy efficient PWRRUN PB foam bounces back with every step combined with a winged nylon plate that provides torsional rigidity while maintaining flexibility in the forefoot, making for a sure footed, snappy ride
- SPEEDROLL technology for effortless speed and addictive forward motion you can rely on daily
- Increased amount of rubber coverage in the heel, extending further up the shoe and to the edges for added durability
- Full length longitudinal groove to add increased flexibility for a more natural, smooth transition in your gate cycle
How does it compare with alternatives?
The comparisons below reflect reviewer impressions, not a universal ranking. Use them to decide what to try on and compare current model versions and prices before buying.

| Alternative | What reviewers say relative to the Azura | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Adidas Adizero Evo SL | Run Testers and Tom’s Guide describe it as lighter or livelier; the Azura is described as more stable. | Ride pop, stability, fit, and current price. |
| New Balance Rebel v5 | Another lightweight, plate-free trainer; reviewers differ on relative comfort and faster-run feel. | Easy-run comfort, workout response, and fit. |
| Puma Velocity Nitro 4 | Run Testers cites better grip and more pop in the Puma, while noting a narrower/more accommodating fit advantage for the Azura. | Grip, forefoot fit, foam feel, and price. |
| Saucony Endorphin Speed 5 | A plated shoe reviewers describe as punchier for fast efforts; the Azura is described as more comfortable for easy efforts. | Plate preference, workout pace, and daily comfort. |
Any durability concerns?
The Run Testers flags the outsole’s thin rubber coverage as a possible wear concern. That is a reviewer’s concern, not an established lifespan finding: the cited evidence does not provide a confirmed mileage limit or a controlled durability comparison. Runners who prioritize outsole longevity should inspect the rubber layout and consider their typical routes and wear patterns.

Verdict
The Endorphin Azura makes the most sense as a versatile, plate-free daily trainer for runners who want a rocker, a stable feel, and the option to run faster without switching shoes. Its firmer, denser character is the key trade-off: if plush cushioning or an especially springy ride is your priority, compare it in person with the alternatives above.
