Sapphire launched its Radeon RX 9060 XT Pure and Pulse cards on June 5, 2025. The range includes a white 16GB Pure, black 16GB and 8GB Pulse models, and a separate NITRO+ 16GB card. More than a year later, the key buying questions are capacity, case fit and street price—not whether the launch is still “new.”
Which Sapphire RX 9060 XT cards launched?
Sapphire announced the family on June 5, 2025, saying the cards were shipping to selected retailers and e-tailers worldwide. AMD had announced the underlying GPU on May 20, with availability scheduled for June 5.

Sapphire Pure RX 9060 XT OC 16GB
The Pure is the design-led option: a white and silver, dual-fan card intended for light-coloured builds. Sapphire lists a factory overclock with a game clock up to 2,700MHz and boost up to 3,290MHz. The card uses 16GB of GDDR6 on a 128-bit interface.
- Approximate length: 240mm, according to third-party specification data.
- Approximate board power: 170W.
- Power input: one 8-pin PCIe connector.
- Sapphire minimum PSU recommendation: 450W.
- Outputs include DisplayPort 2.1a; confirm the exact regional listing for the complete port layout.
- Dual-fan cooling in a white/silver chassis.
The advertised boost is a ceiling, not a guaranteed sustained gaming frequency. Temperature, workload, power limits and silicon variation affect real clocks. Full product information is on Sapphire’s Pure product page.

Sapphire Pulse RX 9060 XT OC 16GB
The 16GB Pulse is the conventional black alternative. It uses Sapphire’s Dual-X cooling approach, with AeroCurve fans, an integrated cooling module, composite heatpipes and a high-TG copper PCB.
- Game clock up to 2,700MHz; boost clock up to 3,290MHz.
- 32 RDNA 4 compute units, third-generation ray-tracing accelerators and second-generation AI accelerators.
- Dimensions: 240 × 111.25 × 46.08mm.
- 2.3-slot ATX form factor.
- Typical board power: 170W.
- One 8-pin power connector and a recommended 450W PSU.
- Two HDMI 2.1b outputs and one DisplayPort 2.1a output, according to listed specifications.
Specifications and supported features are listed on Sapphire’s Pulse 16GB page. The 16GB card’s dimensions and port data are also catalogued by TechPowerUp.
Sapphire Pulse RX 9060 XT OC 8GB
The 8GB Pulse keeps the same RX 9060 XT class and factory-overclocked positioning but halves the memory capacity. Sapphire lists RDNA 4, DisplayPort 2.1a and boost up to 3,290MHz. Do not automatically assume that its exact dimensions, power limit or connector arrangement match the 16GB Pulse; verify the specific SKU at Sapphire’s 8GB product page.

Pure versus Pulse: which design suits your build?
| Priority | Better fit | Why |
|---|---|---|
| White or silver theme | Pure 16GB | White/silver exterior |
| Black conventional build | Pulse | Dark styling and broad 8GB/16GB choice |
| Long-term gaming | Pure 16GB or Pulse 16GB | More memory headroom |
| Lowest entry price | Pulse 8GB | Usually the budget-oriented configuration, subject to actual pricing |
| Compact case | Check the exact SKU | Length, 2.3-slot thickness, airflow and cable clearance all matter |
| Maximum Sapphire tier | NITRO+ | Higher-tier design, generally larger and outside this comparison |
Pure and Pulse cards use the same GPU class and similar advertised clocks, so the cooler and colour do not transform their underlying rendering performance. Noise and temperature should be judged from measurements of the exact model and its fan profile rather than from the product name alone.
Should you buy 8GB or 16GB?
The 16GB version is the safer general purchase when the price difference is close to AMD’s original $50 launch gap. Both versions have 32 compute units and a 128-bit bus; the larger model mainly provides capacity headroom rather than twice the speed.
Choose 16GB for
- 1440p gaming or a multi-year ownership period.
- Modern AAA games with high-resolution textures.
- Heavily modded games and texture packs.
- Ray tracing, frame generation and newer releases where memory pressure is higher.
Choose 8GB for
- A tightly constrained 1080p budget.
- Esports and older games.
- A short-term or transitional upgrade.
- Buyers willing to reduce texture quality when a game exceeds available VRAM.
Eight gigabytes is not automatically unusable, but it leaves less room for future titles. Conversely, 16GB does not remove the need to tune settings or guarantee high frame rates in demanding games.

Performance and software features
AMD positioned the RX 9060 XT against NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5060 Ti and older Radeon RX 7600-series cards. AMD claimed the 16GB model could be up to 6% faster than the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB across 40 games at 1440p Ultra; that is a vendor result under stated test conditions, not a universal ranking. Independent reviews find performance varies with game, resolution, ray tracing, upscaling and the competing card’s street price. See Tom’s Hardware’s 16GB review and TechPowerUp’s Sapphire Pulse testing.
RDNA 4 provides hardware ray tracing and second-generation AI accelerators. Sapphire lists support for FSR 4, HYPR-RX, AFMF 2 (Fluid Motion Frames), Anti-Lag 2, Radeon Super Resolution, FreeSync and AMD Adrenalin software. These features require compatible drivers, operating systems and game implementations; a feature on the specification page does not mean every title supports it. Display connectivity includes DisplayPort 2.1a and HDMI 2.1b on the listed 16GB Pulse.
Case, power and driver checklist
- Measure from the case’s rear expansion brackets to the front fans or radiator. A nominally 240mm card can still conflict with front hardware.
- Reserve 2.3 expansion slots for the 16GB Pulse and check whether the cooler blocks a neighbouring slot.
- Confirm that the PSU has a native 8-pin PCIe cable. Sapphire’s 450W figure is a minimum recommendation, not a guarantee for systems with unusually power-hungry CPUs, poor-quality power supplies or extensive overclocking.
- Leave room for the connector and its bend radius; do not force the side panel against the cable.
- Verify the exact regional SKU’s dimensions, outputs and warranty before ordering.
- Install the current AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition package from AMD’s driver download page rather than relying on an old boxed driver or generic Windows driver. Sapphire lists Windows 10 64-bit, Windows 11 and Linux compatibility for the 16GB Pulse.
Price and availability in 2026
The only firm prices established for this launch are AMD’s US suggested prices of $299 for 8GB and $349 for 16GB, announced May 20, 2025 for the June 5 launch. Sapphire partner cards can cost more because of cooling, factory overclocking, design, retailer margins, taxes and regional distribution. No August 16, 2026 retailer price is established here, so compare current listings rather than treating the launch SEP as today’s price.
At the checkout price, also compare NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, discounted Radeon RX 7700 XT or RX 7800 XT cards, other RX 9060 XT designs and suitable used hardware. Warranty, return policy, dimensions, measured noise and actual stock can outweigh a small clock-rate difference.
Quick Recap
Buying verdict
- Best default: Pulse 16GB when it is priced close to other 16GB RX 9060 XT cards.
- Best for a white build: Pure 16GB, provided its styling premium is acceptable.
- Best budget choice: Pulse 8GB for 1080p esports or older games when it is meaningfully cheaper.
- Do not overpay: If a Sapphire premium approaches the price of a materially faster GPU, choose the faster alternative instead.
