SAP’s published commitment is to provide mainstream maintenance for specified SAP Business Suite 7 core applications through the end of 2027. It does not set September or January as the end month. Eligible customers can choose optional extended maintenance through the end of 2030 for a stated two-percentage-point premium on the maintenance basis. This is a maintenance deadline for covered products and releases—not a universal shutdown of SAP software or an automatic end date for every customer’s contract.
Which SAP products does the end-of-2027 commitment cover?
SAP names SAP ERP 6.0, SAP Customer Relationship Management 7.0, SAP Supply Chain Management 7.0, SAP Supplier Relationship Management 7.0, and SAP Business Suite powered by SAP HANA. The commitment covers the latest three enhancement packages of the named core applications; it should not be read as a date applying automatically to every SAP product, release, or customer entitlement. What happens to maintenance after 2027?
SAP describes three phases. Their availability and coverage are not interchangeable: customer-specific maintenance is not a continuation of mainstream maintenance on identical terms.

The dates and premium above describe SAP’s published policy, not a determination of a particular customer’s eligibility, contract price, or support coverage. Confirm those with SAP and the applicable agreement.
How should customers choose a route?
The practical choice depends on how much conversion work remains, the need for maintenance coverage, the cost of an extension, and whether the installed product and release qualify. A system-specific assessment is necessary; the general policy alone cannot identify the right route.

Before deciding, inventory the exact SAP product, release, and enhancement package; confirm support dates in SAP’s Release Strategy and PAM; check SAP Note 52505 and the maintenance agreement; then compare the remaining conversion schedule with the coverage and cost of the available maintenance route.

What is different about SAP Solution Manager 7.2?
SAP Solution Manager 7.2 follows the Business Suite 7 maintenance approach, but its extended maintenance is described for selected functions, including requirements, project, process, and test management; change control; IT service management; and landscape management. Customers choosing Business Suite 7 extended maintenance receive the Solution Manager extension at no additional cost, according to SAP’s Solution Manager information. SAP recommends transitioning to SAP Cloud ALM before the end of 2027. Solution Manager can continue under customer-specific maintenance after the stated periods, subject to SAP’s restrictions and the customer’s terms.

SAP’s February 11, 2020 announcement addressed a separate issue: dual-use rights during an SAP S/4HANA conversion. Under the announced policy, customers executing a conversion received dual-use rights for Business Suite 7 and SAP S/4HANA until completion of their transition, extending beyond the prior end-of-2025 dual-use limit.
