It fits the console’s expansion slot and supports playing games directly from the card. But the available evidence does not verify that its Prime Day price is the lowest ever, or establish a current Amazon price.
What the SanDisk 2TB card is—and which Xbox it fits
SanDisk identifies the 2TB model as the SANDISK Optimus GX C50 Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X|S, model SDCEOGN-2T00-GNAGX. Its product page specifies an Xbox expansion-slot interface, compatibility with Xbox Series X and Series S, and direct game play from the card. SanDisk also lists a five-year limited warranty. SanDisk’s product page describes capacity for “up to 50 additional games”; that is the manufacturer’s estimate, not a guarantee, since game sizes vary.

SanDisk says the card integrates with Quick Resume and describes its performance in relation to the console’s internal SSD. Those are manufacturer claims; no independent performance testing is established here.

Can you play Xbox Series X|S games from an external hard drive?
Not if they are optimized for Series X|S and the drive connects through USB. SanDisk’s support guidance says optimized games cannot be played from external USB storage; an Xbox expansion card is needed to play them directly from added storage. SanDisk’s support article explains the distinction.
#1 Best Overall
- EFFORTLESS XBOX INTEGRATION. Officially licensed for Xbox Series X|S consoles.
- ROOM FOR MORE GAMES. Up to 2TB(1) of storage gives you space to grow your library by up to 50(4) more games.
- NVME SPEED YOU CAN FEEL. Low-latency performance matches Xbox Velocity Architecture, so games play directly from the card.
- QUICK RESUME READY. Instantly switch between multiple suspended games without losing progress or waiting.
- XBOX GAME PASS ULTIMATE. Enjoy a 1-month trial with access to hundreds of games across console, PC, and cloud(2).
USB drives can still be useful for storing games or media, but they are not interchangeable with an expansion card for direct play of optimized titles. SanDisk also warns that formatting a drive erases its data, so back up anything important before formatting.
Is the Prime Day offer really the lowest price ever?
That claim is not verified by the available price information. The current US Amazon price, seller, stock status, promotion terms, and historical low for the exact SanDisk model are not established. A sale price alone cannot show that an offer is a record low.

GamesRadar reported launch prices on August 10, 2026, of $109.99 for 512GB, $199.99 for 1TB, and $339.99 for 2TB. These were reported US-dollar launch prices, not confirmed current Amazon prices or proof of a price record. GamesRadar’s launch coverage said SanDisk’s page had no release date listed at the time.
For context only, Windows Central’s 2026 Prime Day coverage listed a WD_BLACK C50 2TB at $212.49 and a Seagate 2TB expansion card at $259.99 during that promotion. Those are competing products’ promotion-specific prices, not SanDisk prices and not evidence of SanDisk’s price history. Windows Central’s Prime Day coverage gives that competitor context.

What to check before buying
- Match the model. Confirm the listing says SANDISK Optimus GX C50, 2TB, model SDCEOGN-2T00-GNAGX. Similar Xbox cards or older WD_BLACK-branded listings are different products.
- Confirm the seller and offer. Check the live price, seller, stock, and promotion terms on the retailer’s listing; none is established here for Amazon US.
- Check the price history. Use a reliable history for the exact model before calling the deal a lowest-ever price. A launch price or a competitor’s discounted price cannot establish that.
- Choose the right kind of storage. If your priority is playing optimized Series X|S games without moving them back to the console, choose a compatible expansion card rather than a generic USB drive.
How it compares with the Seagate expansion card
Xbox lists Seagate expansion cards in 1TB and 2TB capacities and says they maintain the console’s internal-SSD peak speed and performance. Xbox notes that retailer pricing and availability can vary. See Xbox’s Seagate expansion-card page for its product information.
The SanDisk product page establishes a 2TB option and a five-year limited warranty; the Xbox page establishes Seagate’s 1TB and 2TB options. Current prices and stock for either product depend on the retailer, so compare live listings and confirm each exact model before choosing.
