Samsung has since introduced intelligent eyewear developed with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Its official announcement confirms Android XR, Gemini, a camera, Snapdragon AR1 Gen1, touch interaction and a manufacturer claim of up to nine hours of use—not the leak’s codenames, camera sensor, battery capacity or micro-LED display.
What the April 2026 leak claimed
On April 28, 2026, Spanish newspaper Cinco Días, citing reporting by Android Headlines, described two Samsung smart-glasses designs in development. These were leak claims, not specifications Samsung had announced. Cinco Días’ report called the first design “Jinju” and said a more advanced model, “Haean,” could follow with a micro-LED panel targeted for 2027.

Reported Jinju specifications
The report attributed these components and features to Jinju:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 processor
- Sony IMX681 camera with a 12-megapixel resolution
- Approximately 155 mAh battery and estimated weight of about 50 grams
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3 and directional speakers built into the temples
- Photochromic lenses, touch controls on a temple, and voice interaction using Gemini
The leak described Haean as a later, more advanced design with a micro-LED display. Samsung’s subsequent official announcements do not confirm either codename, these Jinju component details or the alleged Haean display. Treat them as reported, unverified specifications—not as the spec sheet for Samsung’s announced eyewear.

What Samsung later announced
On May 20, 2026, Samsung and Google previewed two premium intelligent-eyewear styles made with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker at Google I/O. Samsung positioned the glasses as a companion to a mobile phone, with voice interaction and access to navigation assistance, notifications, translation and photo capture. It said the first collections were scheduled for fall 2026 in select markets, with further details to come. Samsung’s May announcement did not give a complete market list or a consumer price.
At Galaxy Unpacked on July 22, Samsung officially introduced its intelligent eyewear. Its July announcement confirms that the product runs on Android XR, brings Gemini into a wearable form, includes a camera and uses Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen1. Samsung also describes touch interaction. The official processor name is more specific than the leak’s “Snapdragon AR1,” but Samsung did not confirm the leak’s other component-level details.

The battery figures are Samsung’s manufacturer claims, not independent measurements. In an August 3, 2026 interview, Samsung Executive Vice President and Head of XR R&D James Choi said the design prioritizes fit, comfort, materials, thermal management and battery efficiency. He described split computing between the glasses and a connected Galaxy phone, and said the device is intended to accompany Galaxy phones and other wearables. Samsung’s interview described up to nine hours of active use, including demanding Gemini and video-recording experiences, and more than seven full case recharges. Those are also company claims, not independent battery test results.
Does Samsung’s eyewear have a display?
The official product information cited here does not say that Samsung’s introduced eyewear has a display. That means the April leak’s micro-LED claim for Haean cannot be treated as confirmation of a screen in the announced product—or proof that a separate display-equipped model will ship. Samsung’s listed experiences emphasize voice, audio, camera capture and phone-connected assistance; the public announcements leave the display question open.

What the Unpacked preview did—and did not—demonstrate
Samsung introduced the eyewear at Galaxy Unpacked, but the event preview was not a working-product test. Android Central reporter Derrek Lee said the models he handled were not functioning products and that he neither used them nor put them on. His account therefore offers no independent validation of everyday comfort, camera performance, Gemini responses, battery life or other operation. Android Central’s event report is useful for understanding the limits of that preview, not as a hands-on review.

Samsung’s May 20 announcement scheduled the first collections for fall 2026 in select markets. The cited announcements do not establish a precise on-sale date, a complete list of launch regions or a price. They also do not confirm whether the leak-reported Haean model will be released. Until Samsung publishes those details, a specific price, availability claim or promised launch date would go beyond what the company has announced.

How to read the leak now
The leak was an early report about designs Samsung was allegedly developing, not a final product announcement. Later official information supports some broad themes—Gemini, a camera, touch interaction and Qualcomm’s AR1 platform category—but does not validate the specific Jinju and Haean hardware claims. The confirmed eyewear is a phone companion developed with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker; detailed specifications beyond those Samsung has published remain uncertain.
Samsung executive James Choi framed the design goal this way: “AI glasses will only become mainstream if people genuinely want to wear them every day.” He also said the aim is “not to replace the mobile phone,” but to help people get more value from the mobile experiences they already rely on. Those remarks fit Samsung’s stated companion-device approach; they do not resolve the leak’s unanswered questions about display hardware, price or regional availability.
