Samsung announced three Odyssey OLED gaming monitors at CES 2024: a 49-inch G9, a 32-inch 4K G8 and a 27-inch G6 that reaches 360Hz. The headline figures describe different displays: the 49-inch G9 tops out at 240Hz, while the 360Hz G6 is 27 inches. As of August 2026, Samsung’s newer OLED models include a 27-inch G6 listed at up to 500Hz.
What Samsung announced at CES 2024
Samsung Electronics America announced the G95SD, G80SD and G60SD on January 2, 2024, ahead of CES 2024 in Las Vegas. They share OLED technology and a Samsung-rated 0.03ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time, but target distinct screen sizes, resolutions and refresh rates.

The G95SD combines a curved 49-inch screen with a 32:9 aspect ratio, 5,120 × 1,440 DQHD resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate. Its wide canvas can be useful for immersive games, racing simulators and multitasking. As a practical analogy, its resolution is like two 2,560 × 1,440 screens placed side by side, without a bezel down the middle; it is not a Samsung specification about physical screen equivalence.

A 32:9 screen is not a safe assumption for every game. Some titles may use side bars, stretch menus or cutscenes, or need community fixes. Streaming video made for narrower screens may also leave unused space. Check support for the games and applications you use, and make sure your desk has room for a 49-inch curved monitor.
The G9 also includes Samsung’s Smart TV platform, Gaming Hub and SmartThings Hub. Samsung lists Multi Control for compatible Samsung devices, but that feature has specific device and software requirements described below.
Odyssey OLED G8 G80SD: 32-inch 4K at 240Hz
The flat 32-inch G80SD has a 16:9 screen, 3,840 × 2,160 4K UHD resolution and a 240Hz maximum refresh rate. It suits buyers who want more detail than the G6’s QHD resolution while keeping a conventional widescreen layout and high refresh rate. That combination can work well for detailed games, desktop work and high-resolution media.
Driving demanding games at high frame rates in 4K takes a powerful graphics card. If your PC cannot deliver the frame rates you want, a lower-resolution display may make better use of its performance. The G8 shares the Smart TV platform, Gaming Hub and SmartThings Hub features of the G9.
Odyssey OLED G6 G60SD: 27-inch QHD at 360Hz
The G60SD is the lineup’s 360Hz model: a flat 27-inch, 16:9 QHD display at 2,560 × 1,440. Samsung also lists AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and a 0.03ms GTG response time. The high refresh rate makes it the most directly esports-focused choice in the 2024 group, provided the PC and game can produce a correspondingly high frame rate.
Refresh rate alone does not make every game look or feel better. The value of 360Hz depends on frame rate, the game, motion clarity and the player’s sensitivity. Competitive games are more likely to make use of very high frame rates than visually demanding games that run well below 360 frames per second.
Shared display features, ports and adjustments
Samsung specified OLED Glare-Free technology, VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro across the 2024 trio. The Glare-Free coating is intended to reduce reflections; it does not eliminate them. Room lighting, windows, viewing angle and screen treatment still affect what you see.

- Samsung’s 27” Odyssey OLED G6 Gaming Monitor is engineered for perfection with a QD-OLED Display featuring QHD resolution made to deliver high brightness and a wide range of colors for gameplay
- OLED Safeguard technology supports performance by actively helping to prevent burn-in with a thermal modulation system
- Glare Free Technology keeps screen clear of reflection from external light sources
- The Pantone Validated screen accurately reproduces 2100+ lifelike colors and 110+ skin tone shades
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadows for added depth and more realistic scenes
Samsung lists two HDMI 2.1 ports, DisplayPort 1.4, a USB hub, VESA mounting compatibility and height-adjustable stands for the lineup. The G80SD and G60SD also support swivel and pivot adjustments. The port list alone does not establish that every input supports every resolution-and-refresh combination; check the monitor manual and confirm support across the monitor, graphics card and cable for your desired mode.
SmartThings and Multi Control requirements
Samsung says Multi Control works with compatible 2024-or-later Tizen monitors, Galaxy Books released in 2021 or later, and Galaxy devices running One UI 5.1.1 or later. SmartThings requires a Samsung Account. Samsung says a separate SmartThings dongle is needed to control Zigbee and Thread devices, and Z-Wave is not supported.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which 2024 model fits your setup?
- Choose the G6 G60SD if competitive gaming is the priority, you prefer a standard 16:9 screen, and your system can deliver high frame rates at QHD.
- Choose the G8 G80SD if you want 32-inch 4K for games and general use, and your graphics card can handle your target frame rates at that resolution.
- Choose the G9 G95SD if a very wide screen for immersion or multitasking matters more than a 360Hz refresh rate, and your desk and games suit 32:9.
OLED’s deep blacks and fast pixel response are attractive for gaming, but long periods of static desktop content can create burn-in risk. If your monitor spends most of its time showing fixed work interfaces, compare OLED with modern Mini-LED or IPS alternatives. Brightness behavior, protective routines and warranty coverage vary by model and region.
What has changed in Samsung’s OLED lineup by August 2026?
The 2024 models are no longer the whole picture. Samsung’s current U.S. OLED catalog lists a 27-inch Odyssey OLED G6 G60SF with up to 500Hz, alongside the older G60SD at 360Hz. Samsung’s 2026 announcements also introduced a 32-inch 4K QD-OLED G8 G80SH at 240Hz. These are different models, not upgrades that change the original G60SD or G80SD specifications.
Samsung’s 2026 Odyssey range also includes non-OLED options: the 27-inch G8 G80HF is an IPS display with 5K at up to 180Hz or QHD at up to 360Hz in Dual Mode, while the 32-inch G8 G80HS offers 6K at up to 165Hz or 3K at up to 330Hz in Dual Mode. The 2026 OLED G7 G73SH offers 4K at up to 165Hz or FHD at up to 330Hz in Dual Mode. Samsung describes these modes in its 2026 Odyssey lineup announcement and global product launch coverage. For the current U.S. OLED listings, see Samsung’s OLED monitor catalog.
U.S. price and availability note for the G60SD
On August 18, 2026, Samsung’s U.S. product page listed the G60SD at $899.99 and showed delivery and in-store pickup as unavailable. This is a dated U.S. store listing, not the original launch price or proof that the monitor is discontinued everywhere. Check Samsung’s G60SD product page for current regional stock and pricing.
