Samsung really did advertise a $150 Galaxy Ring trade-in credit in June 2025. Droid Life reported that Samsung’s Discover sale accepted “Any Smartwatch, Any Condition,” cutting the cited $399.99 price to $249.99 before tax and shipping. That promotion is historical, however. Samsung’s currently indexed U.S. pages show the ring at $399.99 with trade-in savings of up to $150, not a guarantee that every smartwatch still earns the full amount.

What the original $150 promotion offered
The deal was reported on June 5, 2025, as part of a Samsung Discover sale. The discount required a smartwatch trade-in; it was not an unconditional coupon. Droid Life described the qualifying category as “Any Smartwatch, Any Condition” and noted that even an old watch such as a Galaxy Watch Active2 could unlock the same promotional credit.

The $150 represented the value Samsung applied for the submitted watch. It was not necessarily more valuable than selling that watch privately, and Samsung could reverse the credit if the device failed its terms.

Is the $150 deal still active?
Do not treat the June 5, 2025 article as proof of a current offer. Samsung’s indexed U.S. Galaxy Ring purchase page lists a $399.99 price and trade-in savings of up to $150. “Up to $150” is different from “any smartwatch, any condition for $150.” Eligible models, conditions and values can change, and Samsung says it may modify or discontinue trade-in offers.
For the current amount, open Samsung’s Galaxy Ring purchase page, select trade-in, identify your make and model, and check the credit shown in the cart. Unless checkout displays the full $150, budget using the lower confirmed amount. Samsung’s product page likewise does not establish that the 2025 wording remains available.
How to claim a current trade-in offer
- Open Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy Ring purchase page.
- Choose the ring color and either a confirmed size or the free sizing-kit option.
- Select the smartwatch trade-in option.
- Choose the device category, then enter the watch’s manufacturer and model.
- Review the exact credit, final pre-tax price and whether other discounts can be combined.
- Place the order only after confirming phone compatibility and the return terms.
- Back up the old watch, remove accounts and locks, and factory-reset it.
- Photograph the watch and its condition, then ship it within Samsung’s stated deadline using the supplied instructions.
- Keep the shipping receipt and tracking information until Samsung confirms the trade-in.
Trade-in rules that can affect the credit
The broad “any smartwatch, any condition” wording came from the 2025 promotional coverage. It should not be read as permission to send literally any device. Samsung’s current indexed terms generally require the watch to:

- Power on, hold a charge and avoid unexpected shutdowns.
- Have a functioning display without prohibited cracks, breaks, liquid damage or other disqualifying defects.
- Not be blacklisted and have a verifiable FCC ID.
- Be owned by you, rather than leased or still subject to another party’s ownership.
- Be reset to factory settings with personal information removed and software locks disabled.
Samsung currently says the trade-in must be shipped within 15 days of receiving the qualifying purchase. There is a limit of one trade-in per qualifying purchase. If the watch is late or fails inspection, Samsung may charge back the applied credit; the current page describes a $25 deduction in the circumstances specified in its terms. Trade-ins generally cannot be combined with other Samsung, carrier or retailer promotions unless the particular offer permits it.

Size the ring before you commit
Galaxy Ring sizing is not identical to ordinary ring sizing. Samsung offers a free sizing kit, which is the safest choice if you are uncertain. Reviewed U.S. pages list sizes 5 through 15, although availability can vary by product, color and date. Size-specific examples include Samsung’s size 10 page and size 6 page.

Finger size changes with heat, exercise and swelling. Guessing can turn a discount into an inconvenient return, and Samsung’s reviewed purchase page says Galaxy Ring returns may incur a 5% restocking fee unless the product was damaged or defective. Droid Life also reported that some buyers could use nearby Best Buy locations for sizing help, but availability is location-dependent rather than a guaranteed nationwide service.
What the Galaxy Ring requires
The ring connects to a compatible Galaxy phone over Bluetooth, with health data viewed in Samsung Health. A Samsung account and compatible phone are required for some functions. Samsung says Energy Score requires a compatible Galaxy AI phone, Samsung Health and a Samsung account. Feature availability can vary by phone, software, region and account.
Samsung presents sleep and wellness tools as consumer wellness features, not medical diagnosis or treatment. Buyers using an iPhone or a non-Samsung Android phone should verify supported features before purchasing; the full Galaxy ecosystem experience is aimed at Galaxy-phone owners.

Samsung advertises up to six days of battery life for sizes 12 and 13, with smaller sizes potentially differing. That is a manufacturer claim, and actual runtime varies with size, settings and use. Samsung lists 10ATM water resistance and an IP68 rating under stated test conditions. The box includes the ring, charging case and charging cable.
When paired with a compatible Galaxy Watch, Samsung says shared health features can extend ring battery life by up to 30%. That is also Samsung’s claim, not an independent test result. Details are listed on Samsung’s Ring-and-Watch support page.
Is there a subscription fee?
The Samsung pages reviewed do not identify a required recurring Galaxy Ring membership fee. That differs from Oura’s subscription model, which Droid Life mentioned in its comparison. This does not guarantee that every Samsung Health or Galaxy AI feature will remain free forever; account, phone, regional and service requirements can change.
When the deal makes sense
Buy if these conditions fit
- You already own a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone.
- Your old smartwatch has little resale value and Samsung’s selector grants the full or near-full credit.
- You want discreet sleep and wellness tracking rather than a screen.
- You have confirmed the Galaxy Ring size before sending in the watch.
Keep the watch or skip the ring if these conditions fit
- The watch could sell privately for more than Samsung’s credit.
- It is leased, financed, locked, blacklisted, badly damaged or unable to power on.
- You need notifications, GPS, cellular service, apps, workout controls or a display.
- You use an iPhone or expect identical features on a non-Samsung Android phone.
- The live checkout credit is materially below $150.
Alternatives to consider
Keep an existing Galaxy Watch if screen-based controls, GPS and notifications matter more than a screen-free form factor. Consider Oura Ring if cross-platform use and its analysis ecosystem justify a recurring membership. A conventional fitness tracker may be better when exercise metrics and at-a-glance access are the priority.
