What the WD85N74FNOR is—and what its capacities mean
This is a combination washing machine and dryer, model WD85N74FNOR/SA, rather than a washer that can dry a full wash load. Samsung lists separate capacities: 8.5kg for washing and 6kg for drying. A load that fills the washer to its wash limit may therefore need to be split before drying. Check the load limits and cycle guidance in the manual and support page for this exact model.

Samsung lists a maximum spin speed of 1400 rpm, a four-star energy rating and a 4.5-star WELS water rating on its Australian product page. Those ratings are product specifications, not a guarantee of what a particular household will use on every program.
Features and the QuickDrive claim
Listed features include QuickDrive, Hygiene Steam, AddWash, Air Wash, BubbleSoak, BubbleWash, Wi-Fi Smart Control, Smart Check, Q-rator, Child Lock and StayClean Drawer. These are the manufacturer’s feature descriptions; their presence alone does not establish a particular wash or drying result.

Samsung says QuickDrive “delivers a full clean performance in up to half the time with 20% less energy.” The qualification matters: Samsung compares it with the earlier Samsung WW6500K on a Cotton cycle at 40°C and half load, based on third-party testing to AS/NZS 2040.1:2005 and AS/NZS 2040:2:2005. The company also says cycle duration can vary with water supply and laundry weight or type. This is a qualified manufacturer claim, not evidence that every cycle—or a typical household load—will be half as long or use 20% less energy.
Installation: allow for the hose-inclusive depth
Samsung lists the body dimensions as 600 × 850 × 600 mm (W × H × D), and a gross depth of 736 mm including the hose. For an initial fit check, use the larger, hose-inclusive depth rather than assuming the appliance only needs 600 mm from front to back. Confirm the required clearances, hose routing and connections in the model’s manual before installation.

How well does it wash and dry?
The available public information does not establish an independent performance verdict for this model. CHOICE has a page for the WD85N74FNOR, but its detailed wash and drying results, expert rating, recommended status, efficiency scores, cycle time, noise results, and reliability and satisfaction findings are restricted to members. CHOICE’s visible specification fields display 320 kWh/year for washer energy, 229 kWh/year for dryer energy, 73 L for wash water and 48 L for dryer water. The accessible page does not show publication dates for these label entries. Treat them as displayed label values, not independently measured current household consumption or a prediction of your bills.

Samsung’s Australian product page shows 3.9 out of 5 from 20 customer reviews, with 57% recommending the product (page accessed 2026). This is a small, manufacturer-hosted, self-selected sample—not a representative owner survey or a performance test. Comments dated 2019–2021 include praise for convenience, wash-and-dry operation and the AddWash door, as well as complaints about long drying cycles, odor, lint around the door seal, spin noise and drainage or filter issues. These past anecdotes do not establish how often a problem occurs, a defect rate or expected service life.
Is it still available, and what should a used buyer check?
Samsung’s Australian product page currently labels the model “Not for sale.” That status does not establish whether a particular retailer or second-hand seller has stock, and the page’s historic reviews or any past list price do not prove current availability or value. Check local stock directly if considering remaining inventory.

For a used unit, assess the specific machine rather than relying on the review average. Where possible, ask for a demonstration and check that it can complete wash, drain, spin and dry functions; inspect the door seal and drawer for residue or odor; listen for unusual spin noise; and confirm that drainage works. These are practical checks prompted by the kinds of issues past hosted comments mention, not a claim that those faults are common.
Compare it with any alternative using the same questions: does the drying capacity suit your usual load, will the hose-inclusive depth fit, and are cycle duration, drying outcome, energy and water use, noise, warranty, price and availability acceptable? Public sources cited here do not provide comparable test results for another model, so they do not support ranking this combo against competitors.
