What the Samsung Wallet tab actually is
The small handle or tab at the bottom edge of a Galaxy phone is Samsung Wallet’s Quick access swipe-up shortcut. When Quick access is enabled for a particular screen, swiping up from the bottom opens Wallet instead of leaving that gesture unused. It is not a separate app or a removable physical part of the phone interface.

Samsung provides three separate location switches: Home screen, Lock screen, and Screen off. This means the shortcut can be removed from the Home screen while remaining available on the Lock screen, or it can be disabled in all three places. Each location must be changed deliberately; turning off one does not automatically turn off the others.

Remove the tab from the Home screen
- Open the Samsung Wallet app.
- Tap Menu.
- Tap the Settings gear.
- Open Quick access, then tap Swipe up gesture.
- Turn off Home screen.
Return to the Home screen and swipe up from the bottom edge to check the result. With the Home screen switch disabled, that swipe should no longer launch Samsung Wallet there. Wallet itself remains installed, and its app icon can still be used to open it.

Disable the other locations when necessary
If the same handle appears while the phone is locked or while the display is off, stay on the Swipe up gesture page and turn off Lock screen and/or Screen off. These are optional changes. Leave either switch enabled if you still want one-touch Wallet access in that location.
Which switch controls which screen?

The switches are intentionally independent. For example, turning off only Home screen addresses the common complaint about a tab at the bottom of the Home screen without removing the gesture from the Lock screen.
Choose the least disruptive setup
Remove only the Home screen tab
Use this option if the handle interrupts normal Home screen navigation but you still want Wallet available from the Lock screen or when the display is off. Turn off Home screen and leave the other switches unchanged.

Remove every swipe-up Wallet shortcut
Turn off Home screen, Lock screen, and Screen off. This prevents the Quick access gesture in all three locations while keeping Samsung Wallet available through its app icon.
Keep a shortcut in one location
You can mix the settings. For instance, disable Home screen and Screen off but leave Lock screen enabled. The available shortcut then depends on the screen where you begin the swipe.
Disabling the shortcut does not uninstall Wallet
Quick access is only an entry method. Samsung’s Wallet FAQ explains that after Quick access shortcuts are disabled, Wallet can still be opened from its app icon. You therefore do not need to uninstall Wallet to remove the tab, and changing these switches is the supported way to stop the swipe-up launch in selected locations.

Use the normal Samsung Wallet icon whenever you need the app after changing the gesture settings. The shortcut controls affect how Wallet opens, not whether the app icon remains available.
Handle transparency and shortcut removal are different
Samsung also documents a handle-transparency slider. That slider changes how visible the handle is; it does not provide the same per-screen control as the Home screen, Lock screen, and Screen off switches. If your goal is to stop the swipe from opening Wallet, turn off the relevant location switch. If your goal is only to make the handle less noticeable, adjust transparency instead.
A less-visible handle can still be active. Treat transparency as a visibility preference and the location switches as the controls that disable Quick access in those locations.

If the tab or menu does not behave as expected
The tab is still visible on the Home screen
Open Samsung Wallet again and verify that Home screen is off under Menu > Settings > Quick access > Swipe up gesture. Then return to the Home screen and test the same bottom-edge swipe. If the handle is present in another screen state, check that state’s separate switch rather than changing the Home screen setting again.
The tab appears on the Lock screen or with the display off
These locations have their own controls. Turn off Lock screen for the Lock screen and Screen off for the display-off state. Disabling Home screen alone does not change those settings.

Samsung notes that exact labels can vary as phone software is updated. If the documented path or a switch is not available, check Samsung Wallet and the phone software for available updates, then look again in Wallet’s settings. The support instructions do not establish one universal alternate path for every Galaxy model or region, so avoid applying a menu route from a different device without confirming the labels on your phone.

You are using an older guide that says Samsung Pay
Samsung Pay is the earlier name that appears in some older discussions. Current instructions and the settings screen use Samsung Wallet. The Quick access concept is the same: locate the Wallet settings for the swipe-up gesture and change the switch for the screen where the shortcut appears.
A quick removal checklist
- Open Samsung Wallet.
- Go to Menu > Settings > Quick access > Swipe up gesture.
- Turn off Home screen to remove the usual bottom-of-Home-screen tab.
- Turn off Lock screen and/or Screen off if you also want those shortcuts gone.
- Test the swipe in each screen state you changed.
- Use the Samsung Wallet app icon when you want to open Wallet afterward.
- If labels differ or a control is unavailable, check for Wallet and phone software updates.
These settings let you remove the unwanted Samsung Wallet tab without uninstalling the app and without giving up Wallet access where you still want it.
