The Samsung UE55M80HAUXXU is Samsung’s 55-inch 2026 M80H 4K Mini LED TV, with 144 Hz variable refresh support and three HDMI inputs specified for 4K at 144 Hz. Its main question mark is brightness: in tests reported by TechRadar, the M80H measured substantially dimmer than the QN80H used for comparison. Samsung’s UK listing currently marks this model no longer available, so check local stock and the exact regional model number before considering a purchase.
What is the Samsung UE55M80H?
Samsung identifies UE55M80HAUXXU as the UK model number for its 55-inch M80H Mini LED 4K Samsung Vision AI Smart TV (2026). Samsung’s UK product page currently says it is no longer available. Other countries may use different suffixes and have different availability or services, so the model number on a listing matters more than a shortened name such as “M80H.” Samsung’s UK product page identifies the specific SKU and advertised features.

Samsung positions the M80H for sports, gaming and everyday viewing. Its UK newsroom lists 55-, 65-, 75- and 85-inch sizes for the 2026 lineup; that is Samsung’s lineup description, not an independent ranking of performance. Samsung’s lineup announcement provides the company’s positioning.

How bright is the M80H?
The most useful independent performance evidence in the cited coverage is TechRadar’s June 5, 2026, side-by-side report. TechRadar measured the M80H at 179 nits full-screen SDR and 269 nits full-screen HDR in Standard mode. For peak HDR, it reported 252 nits in Movie mode and 259 nits in Filmmaker Mode. These are measurements from the outlet’s stated modes and test, not results from testing for this review; brightness in other scenes and viewing conditions may differ. Read TechRadar’s M80H and QN80H brightness comparison.

In the same comparison, TechRadar reported 325 nits full-screen SDR and 634 nits full-screen HDR for the QN80H in Standard mode, plus peak HDR figures of 1,152 nits in Movie mode and 1,149 nits in Filmmaker Mode. This puts the M80H’s reported brightness well below that comparison set in those measurements. It does not establish how every competing TV performs, nor does brightness alone determine picture quality: the cited results do not settle questions such as local-dimming behavior, dark-scene blooming, reflections or viewing angles.
Samsung advertises Mini LED HDR, Supreme Mini LED Dimming and HDR10+ support, but those specifications are not independent proof of a particular HDR impact. If you watch in a bright room or want conspicuous highlights in HDR, the reported measurements are a reason to compare the M80H with other TVs using independent results in the same picture modes and conditions.
Is the M80H good for gaming?
On paper, the M80H offers strong high-refresh input specifications. Samsung lists 3840 × 2160 resolution, 144 Hz VRR support with a 100 Hz native refresh rate, Motion Xcelerator 144 Hz, and three HDMI inputs each specified for 4K at 144 Hz. The distinction matters: 144 Hz is the supported variable-refresh/input figure, while Samsung lists the panel’s native refresh as 100 Hz. Samsung also advertises 4K AI Upscaling and an NQ4 AI Gen2 processor; these are manufacturer specifications rather than independent assessments of image processing.
Those features make the M80H worth considering for a compatible gaming setup, but they do not answer every practical gaming question. The cited sources do not establish input lag, VRR behavior in every mode, or performance with specific consoles and PCs. Check the exact source device’s output capabilities and the TV’s regional specifications before relying on a particular refresh-rate combination.

Picture and processing
Samsung lists HDR10+ support, Auto HDR Remastering and 4K AI Upscaling. HDR format support and advertised processing features can help describe compatibility and intended functionality, but they should not be read as measurements of brightness, contrast or upscaling quality.
Smart TV and updates
The UK model page lists Tizen Smart TV and regional voice-assistant and service availability. Apps and voice features can vary by country, so confirm that the services you use are offered for the precise local variant. Samsung’s UK page says the security update period is at least five years from launch, through 31 December 2031. Separately, Samsung’s EU product information sheet specifies a minimum of eight years of software/firmware update availability, seven years of spare-parts availability and seven years of product support; those are EU-scoped product-information terms, not interchangeable promises about security updates. Samsung UK product information and the Samsung business product page and product information sheet describe the respective terms.
Sound and connections
Samsung specifies 20 W RMS output from two-channel speakers, with OTS Lite, Adaptive Sound+, Active Voice Amplifier and Q-Symphony. Connectivity listed for the UK SKU includes HDMI eARC, one USB-A port, Ethernet, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.3. The built-in speaker specification does not establish whether the set will fill a particular room; if stronger room-filling sound is important, assess your room and audio setup rather than assuming the TV’s speakers will suffice. eARC provides an external-audio connection, while Q-Symphony is Samsung’s advertised feature; verify compatibility for any particular sound system.

- Exact model and region: Match the full SKU, including suffix, to your country. The UK UE55M80HAUXXU listing is marked no longer available, and regional models can differ in services and availability.
- Brightness evidence: Compare independent full-screen and peak brightness measurements by picture mode if you watch in a bright room or prioritize HDR highlights. TechRadar’s figures are a single outlet’s test, not replicated measurements.
- Gaming needs: Confirm the resolution and refresh modes supported by your console or PC, and seek independent input-lag and VRR evidence if those are decisive.
- Mount fit: Samsung lists support for its Full Motion Slim Wall Mount (Y22). Confirm the mount SKU, VESA fit, wall construction and regional compatibility before ordering.
- Local price and terms: Check current stock, price, warranty and support conditions for the actual seller and country; the cited material does not establish a current local offer.
For a meaningful comparison with another TV, look beyond the Mini LED label: compare brightness in equivalent modes, HDR formats and tone mapping, local dimming and blooming, high-frame-rate inputs, reflections and viewing angles, audio connections, operating-system features, and current local price. The available independent comparison cited here covers brightness against one Samsung model, not the full set of buying criteria.
