On paper it covers the basics well: 4K resolution, HDR with HDR10+, the Tizen Smart TV platform, Gaming Hub, and 20 W two-channel audio. It is a mainstream set rather than a premium one, and the owner feedback available is small and mixed.
This review is based on Samsung Australia’s published specifications and support pages, plus a small set of owner reviews checked in 2026. It is not a hands-on test, and no independent measurements of this exact model were available when this article was written.

What this model is
The UA65DU7700WXXY is the 65-inch size in Samsung’s 2024 DU7700 family, which Samsung Australia markets as the DU7700 Crystal UHD 4K Smart TV. The “WXXY” suffix identifies the Australian version of the model, so use the full code when checking stock, support files or warranty terms. Samsung’s Australian retailer specification sheet is the main source for the specifications below: Samsung Australia, DU7700 – Crystal UHD 4K Smart TV (2024) retailer specification sheet.

| Area | Published for UA65DU7700WXXY | What it does not tell you |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | 4K, 3,840 × 2,160 | Sharpness of real content, which depends on source material and upscaling |
| Refresh rate | 50 Hz listed | Motion smoothness in practice; see the note on motion-rate labels below |
| HDR | HDR and HDR10+ | Measured brightness or how well HDR is mapped on screen |
| Picture features | UHD Dimming, Filmmaker Mode, 4K upscaling | Whether these measurably improve contrast or accuracy |
| Smart platform | Tizen Smart TV, Smart Hub, Gaming Hub | App availability in your region at the time you buy |
| Audio | 20 W, 2-channel, with Q-Symphony | Loudness, bass or clarity in a real room |
| Dolby Atmos | Not listed on the sheet for this model line | Whether the TV decodes or outputs Atmos; do not assume it does |
The sheet also carries a separate “Motion Rate 100” entry. That is a marketing motion figure and is not the panel’s native refresh rate. For this model, read the panel as 50 Hz.
Picture quality: what is and is not established
Samsung lists HDR, HDR10+, UHD Dimming, Filmmaker Mode and 4K upscaling. Those labels tell you which processing features are present. They do not tell you how bright the screen gets, how deep its blacks are, or how accurate its colours look. No measured brightness, contrast or HDR result for this exact model was found in the sources reviewed.
Owners who wrote reviews praise the picture for the price, which is the most consistent positive theme in the feedback. Treat that as a satisfaction signal, not a measurement. If picture performance is decisive for you, look at an independent lab or reviewer’s measurements of the model, and compare them against the brightness and HDR figures from another set you are considering.

Gaming and Gaming Hub
The Gaming Hub is the TV’s built-in cloud gaming destination. Samsung’s sheet names Xbox Game Pass and other cloud gaming services, but it attaches conditions to them. Samsung’s own wording on the DU7700 2024 sheet reads:

“A controller may be required depending on the specific game being played on the Gaming Hub. Internet connection, additional gaming service subscriptions and third party apps (depending on game or service) may be required.”
In practical terms, before you buy for gaming, check the following:
- A stable internet connection. Cloud games depend on your network, not the TV alone.
- Whether the service you want charges a separate subscription.
- Whether the game needs a third-party app that is available in your region.
- Whether you need a controller, and whether you already own one that works with the service.
The 50 Hz listed refresh rate also matters for gaming. It is the figure to compare against any other set you are considering for fast-moving games.

Connection matters more than the soundbar’s brand. Before you buy one, confirm three things against the TV manual and the soundbar’s own specifications:
- The soundbar’s HDMI connection supports eARC, or at minimum ARC, on the port you plan to use.
- The format you want (for example Dolby Atmos) is supported on both ends. Do not assume the TV passes Atmos, because the sheet does not list it for this model line.
- The TV’s digital audio output options match the soundbar’s inputs, since one owner reported that the set’s audio output options were limited.
One owner review describes an ARC soundbar working well with the set, while another criticises the TV for limited connectivity with a surround system. Both are individual experiences, and the difference often comes down to which connection and format was used.
Setup, remote and support
Samsung Australia’s support page for the exact model lists an installation guide, a remote guide, an e-Manual and software downloads. The files were shown as modified in 2026, so check the page for the current versions before you set up the TV. The e-Manual is the best reference for on-screen menus, since menu names can change between software updates.

Wall mounting
The support page lists an installation guide, but the content available for this review did not establish the TV’s VESA mounting pattern or mounting dimensions. Do not buy a wall mount on the assumption that it fits. Confirm the VESA pattern and mounting screw specifications in the installation guide for the exact model, and check that the mount’s rated weight and dimensions match them.

ProductReview.com.au showed a 3.0 out of 5 score from four reviews for this exact model when it was checked in 2026. Four reviews is a very small sample, so the score should not be read as a reliable measure of owner satisfaction across the model. The reviews are still useful for showing the themes owners raise.
Positive themes include picture quality, setup, smart features and soundbar operation through ARC. One owner summed it up this way: “Overall a really impressive TV for a decent Price.” Another review’s headline phrase was “Good Bang for Buck.”
The negatives were the compact remote and connectivity. One reviewer wrote: “Limited connectivity cannot connect to surround sound system.” These are individual accounts. They are not confirmed faults with the model, and they are not evidence of a defect that affects every unit.

ProductReview.com.au listing for the Samsung DU7700 UA65DU7700WXXY (65″)
Who this TV suits
- Viewers who want a 65-inch 4K set with HDR and a full smart platform for streaming, at a mainstream price point.
- Casual gamers who will use cloud gaming and are willing to pay for any subscription the game requires.
- Buyers who will add a soundbar and can confirm the HDMI eARC or ARC connection before buying.
It is a weaker fit for buyers who need measured HDR brightness, a strong built-in sound system, or a remote that is easy to use without looking at it.
Verdict
The UA65DU7700WXXY is a sensible, mainstream 65-inch 4K Smart TV on Samsung’s published specifications. Its strengths are the 4K panel, HDR support, a full smart platform and a Gaming Hub for cloud games. Its weak points, according to a small set of owner reviews, are the compact remote and connection options for surround systems. Because no independent measurements or current Australian pricing and warranty terms were available for this review, confirm the current price, stock and warranty with a retailer before you buy.
