The Samsung UA55CU8000WXXY is an Australian 55-inch 4K smart TV with a manufacturer-listed native refresh rate of 50 Hz. Samsung lists three HDMI ports, Tizen, and entry-level gaming features including Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and HGiG. Those specifications do not establish measured picture or sound quality, nor do they mean the TV supports 120 Hz gaming. Samsung Australia currently marks the model “Not for sale”; that is not proof that every retailer or second-hand seller is out of stock.

No measured picture-quality results for the Australian WXXY variant are established here.

Gaming: useful features, but not a 120 Hz set
Samsung lists Auto Game Mode (ALLM), HGiG and Gaming Hub. ALLM can support automatic low-latency switching with compatible devices, while HGiG is a gaming HDR feature. These listings do not establish a high-refresh gaming capability: the stated native refresh rate is 50 Hz, and Samsung’s page does not establish HDMI 2.1 or a refresh rate above 50 Hz. Do not buy this model expecting 120 Hz gaming.
What independent reviews can—and cannot—tell you
CHOICE has a listing for the exact Australian model, but the price shown in a search result was not verified as current and should not be treated as a present-day buying price. Samsung’s page also displays a 4.5/5 rating from 1,163 customer reviews and says 83% recommend the TV. Those are changing, Samsung-hosted customer-review aggregates—not lab measurements or a representative survey.

RTINGS’ CU8000 series review tests North American model codes, including UN55CU8000FXZA, and describes the CU8000 as slightly worse than the AU8000. That is limited series-level context, not a direct test of the Australian UA55CU8000WXXY. Regional variants can differ, so do not assume that North American connectivity, tuner details or measured results apply to this Australian model.

If comparing it with a newer television, weigh the actual asking price against features that matter to your setup rather than relying on the CU8000 name alone:
- Motion and gaming: compare native refresh rate and supported input features with the games and consoles you use.
- Picture: compare HDR formats and independent measurements of brightness and contrast; the listed feature names alone do not provide those results.
- Connections and sound: check HDMI count, eARC needs and whether the built-in audio suits your room.
- Ownership: check smart-TV app availability and update support, warranty, dimensions and mounting requirements.
The available information confirms Samsung’s specifications for this model but does not establish comparable lab results against current alternatives. Use a current, exact-model review or an in-person comparison when measured picture performance is decisive.
