The Samsung UA43DU7700WXXY is a 43-inch 4K Smart TV with a basic feature set that suits everyday streaming in a bedroom or smaller living room. It is a reasonable budget choice if you do not need fast motion handling, measured HDR brightness or built-in recording, and if you check the wall bracket and remote before you buy.
This review is based on Samsung’s Australian support listing and 2024 specification sheet, Australian retailer answers, and public owner feedback. It does not include lab measurements or long-term use, so the claims below are limited to what the published material supports.

Confirm you are buying the right model
The Australian SKU is UA43DU7700WXXY. Samsung’s Australian support page lists this exact model, and the 2024 specification sheet uses the same code. Do not treat the New Zealand SXNZ model, another DU7700 screen size or another DU-series set as equivalent. Check the code on the box or the rating label before you compare prices.

| Refresh rate | 50Hz | Limits motion smoothness for fast sport and high-frame-rate gaming |

These are published figures from Samsung’s 2024 sheet. They do not establish measured brightness, black level, colour accuracy or real HDR impact.
Picture quality: what you can and cannot conclude
The 4K resolution, HDR format support and picture processing features are listed on the specification sheet. No independent laboratory measurements of this exact model were found, so this article does not rank its contrast, brightness or colour against other sets.
Owner comments praise picture quality in some 43-inch reviews from 2024. Others criticise it relative to an older Samsung model. These are individual impressions, not a controlled comparison.

Motion and gaming
The 50Hz refresh rate is the main limit here. It is fine for film, drama and most streaming, but fast-panning sport and high-frame-rate gaming will show less motion smoothness than a higher-refresh panel. The sheet lists ALLM and VRR, which help with input switching and frame pacing, but it does not publish input-lag figures for this model.
Cloud gaming is listed through Gaming Hub. The specification sheet specifically flags that some cloud services, such as Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, carry their own fees and that a compatible controller may be required. Factor those costs in before assuming the set is a cheap gaming solution.

Smart TV apps and the Foxtel question
Tizen is the platform, and Samsung TV Plus, a web browser, Bixby and built-in Alexa are included. Apple AirPlay is listed. App availability and interface layout can change without notice, so confirm each service you rely on in the Tizen app store before buying.

The published specifications this review relies on do not list a Foxtel app. Readers who ask about it should check availability directly with Foxtel and the Samsung app store, because retailer questions on this point were not answered in the material reviewed.
Recording and PVR
An Australian retailer answer states that the set does not have built-in PVR and that a separate device is needed to record broadcast TV. The specification sheet lists the DVB-T (T2 Ready) and analogue tuners but does not describe recording. If recording is essential, confirm the requirement against Samsung’s current manual for this SKU, and budget for an external recorder if needed.
Audio and whether you need a soundbar
The built-in output is 20W RMS across two channels. That is adequate for news, dialogue and background streaming in a small room, but it is not a surround system. Dolby Atmos is listed as unavailable.
A soundbar is an optional upgrade, not a requirement. If you want fuller sound for films or music, choose one that supports HDMI ARC or eARC and confirm that the TV’s HDMI port supports the same standard in the manual. Owner comments on sound are mixed, so decide based on how you listen rather than on the speakers alone.
Remote, setup and the program guide
Owner reviews praise straightforward setup and the streaming features, while complaints focus on the remote feel and layout, which some owners find small or unfamiliar. One Samsung Members post dated 14 April 2024 names this model and reports that the programme guide shows only about five channels before scrolling. The poster compared it unfavourably with an older BU8000 guide layout and attributed the issue to font and sizing.

Wall mounting
Same screen size does not guarantee bracket compatibility. Before you reuse a wall bracket, work through this checklist:
- Find the VESA mounting pattern for the exact UA43DU7700WXXY in Samsung’s model documentation.
- Compare that pattern with the bracket’s rated pattern, not just its screen-size range.
- Check the set’s weight, the bracket’s load rating and the screw size and length the set requires.
- Measure the wall clearance and cable access at the bracket position before fitting.
If any item does not match, use a bracket rated for this model.
Who should buy it
- Buyers who want a 43-inch 4K smart TV for streaming in a bedroom, study or small living room.
- Casual gamers who value ALLM and VRR support and do not expect high-refresh performance.
- Households that want multiple HDMI inputs for a console, streaming device and soundbar.
Who should look elsewhere
- Viewers who watch a lot of fast sport or competitive gaming and need a higher refresh rate.
- Buyers who need built-in PVR or a guaranteed Foxtel app.
- Anyone who wants measured HDR brightness or proven colour performance before paying.
Verdict
The Samsung UA43DU7700WXXY offers a 43-inch 4K smart-TV feature set, everyday streaming, basic gaming functions and three HDMI inputs. Its 50Hz panel, lack of measured performance data and absence of built-in recording mean it is best for undemanding viewing rather than premium picture or motion.
Before you buy, confirm the SKU, check the current price and warranty with your retailer, test the remote and programme guide if you can, and verify any wall bracket against the model’s VESA pattern.
