What matters most when comparing Samsung and LG TVs?
Start with a Samsung and an LG model in the same screen size and broadly comparable product tier. Then compare the price you can actually pay, the features you will use and the way the TV will fit your room. A brand-wide reputation cannot settle whether one particular pair is better value.

- Price and size: Compare current prices for the same screen size, and account for delivery and return terms. Manufacturer prices can change, and an advertised price for a different size or tier is not a like-for-like comparison.
- Room and seating: In a bright room, check measurements of the exact TV’s brightness and reflection handling. If people watch from seats off to the side, compare viewing-angle performance.
- Display type: Both brands sell multiple display categories. Similar-sounding category labels across brands do not guarantee similar performance; identify the exact models before weighing picture quality or price.
- Gaming: Check the exact model’s refresh rate, HDMI 2.1 inputs, variable refresh support and input lag against your console or PC. A gaming-oriented label alone does not establish that a TV meets your setup’s needs.
- Smart features: Check that the apps, interface, remote and connected-device support suit your household. Feature support can vary by model and region.
- Installation: Confirm whether the specific SKU includes a stand or wall mount, and check mount compatibility before buying accessories. LG’s catalogue identifies supplied flush wall mounts on some G6 models.
Where does each brand tend to have an advantage?
RTINGS’ broad brand comparison finds that Samsung TVs generally perform better than average LG LED-backlit models for brightness and contrast, while LG TVs generally offer wider viewing angles and better smart features. These are broad tendencies, not guarantees for every TV. They are not a controlled, matched comparison of every 2026 model, so use them to frame questions about the pair you are considering—not as a substitute for model-specific evidence. Samsung’s Canadian guide describes a 2026 range spanning Micro RGB, OLED, Neo QLED, Mini LED, Crystal UHD and The Frame, with different families positioned for uses such as gaming, bright spaces, sports, lower-cost large screens and art display. This is Samsung’s own categorization; availability and model numbers can differ by country. Samsung Electronics America also announced refreshed 2026 Neo QLED 4K and Mini LED series. A company executive’s claim that the series offer “incredible value for shoppers at every price point” is Samsung’s marketing statement, not independent evidence that its TVs are better value.
LG’s US catalogue lists 2026 OLED B6 and C6 models alongside QNED and Mini LED products. At the time the catalogue was inspected, it listed a 65-inch B6 at $1,399.99 and a 55-inch C6 at $1,499.99. Those live manufacturer-listing prices are for different sizes and tiers, so they cannot establish which brand offers better value; promotions and prices may change.

How to decide which one is better value for you
- Set your budget and screen size. Decide what you can spend and what size fits the viewing distance and space.
- Choose a specific Samsung and LG model. Compare models in the same size and a similar tier rather than relying on brand-wide labels.
- Check the features that matter in your room. Compare brightness and reflection handling for bright spaces, viewing angles for off-center seats, and measured gaming specifications for your devices.
- Compare the total purchase. Verify current retailer prices, delivery, returns, included stand or mount, and any accessory costs.
- Choose based on the tradeoff you value. A lower price is not automatically better value if the TV lacks a feature you need; a higher price is not justified if you will not use its advantages.
There is no published market-wide statistic here that establishes one brand as better value overall. RTINGS’ review index states that it has bought and tested 553 TVs, but that catalogue size is not a Samsung-versus-LG performance result.
