Samsung The Sero is a 43-inch QLED 4K smart TV that rotates between portrait and landscape orientation. The often-quoted $899 figure should be treated as historical deal context: the available Samsung documentation does not establish a current seller, currency, promotion, or warranty at that price. Verify those details before buying.
What makes The Sero different?
The Sero’s defining feature is its motorized rotating display. It can switch between horizontal and vertical orientation so the screen matches the format of the content, much like a smartphone or tablet. Landscape mode suits conventional television, streaming shows and movies; portrait mode is intended for vertically filmed mobile videos and social-media content.

Samsung describes The Sero as its first television with an automated rotating display when it launched in Singapore in 2020. “Sero” means “vertical” in Korean. The product received a CES 2020 Best of Innovation award and an iF Design Award 2020, according to Samsung’s launch announcement.

How phone content works on The Sero
Tap View and screen mirroring
Tap View and screen mirroring are designed to put compatible phone content on the larger display. A phone video recorded vertically can use portrait mode instead of leaving large unused areas at the sides of a conventional television. Mirroring also lets the TV show other supported mobile content, subject to the phone, app and network involved.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Automatic orientation and manual control
The screen is built to rotate between its two orientations. Samsung’s product description says it rotates to fit what you are watching. In practice, orientation behavior can depend on the source and the phone’s compatibility; a mirrored app that does not provide orientation information may require manual control.
Smart-TV functions
Tizen provides the television interface and streaming features, while SmartThings and voice-assistant support are intended for control within Samsung’s compatible ecosystem. Feature availability can vary by country, software version and connected devices.

Design, sound and moving the set
The Sero’s stand is part of the product rather than a basic detachable support. Samsung’s 2021 brochure rates the integrated audio system at 4.1 channels and 60 watts, giving the set more substantial built-in sound hardware than many slim televisions. That figure is a published specification, not a guarantee of room-filling performance; room size, placement and listening position still matter.
For repositioning, Samsung lists a Sero Wheel rolling accessory. Confirm whether the wheel stand is included with a particular listing or sold separately, and check compatibility with the exact regional model suffix.

Is The Sero worth $899?
That depends mainly on how often you watch portrait-format material. A conventional 43-inch 4K television may offer similar resolution and smart features for less, while The Sero asks you to pay for its rotating mechanism, lifestyle stand and phone-first design. The extra hardware is most defensible when vertical video is a regular part of your viewing rather than an occasional novelty.
- Its strongest case: frequent viewing of vertical phone videos, easy switching between mobile and traditional content, and a distinctive freestanding design.
- Its weaker case: mostly watching widescreen films, broadcast channels or console games, where rotation adds little value.
- Before purchasing: confirm the exact model, panel condition, return policy, warranty, included stand, shipping cost and software support for your country.
The $899 headline cannot currently be verified as an active offer from the supplied authoritative material. It does not identify a currency, retailer, date, condition or model suffix. Treat it as a historical price reference until a dated Samsung or retailer listing confirms the complete terms.

What to check in a listing
- Match the model suffix to your region; QN43LS05TA and QE43LS05T are examples from different markets.
- Confirm that the listing is for a 43-inch LS05-series display, not a similarly named accessory or another Samsung television.
- Ask whether the rotating stand is included and whether the Sero Wheel is part of the package.
- Check that the warranty is valid in your country and identify whether the unit is new, open-box or refurbished.
- Verify that the seller states the final currency and total delivered price rather than relying on an $899 headline.
Who should buy it?
The Sero is a specialized lifestyle television for viewers who want one screen to behave like both a TV and a large phone display. Its 4K QLED panel, HDR support and Tizen platform make it a conventional smart TV on paper, but the rotating mechanism is the reason to choose it. If your viewing is overwhelmingly landscape, a standard 43-inch 4K set is likely the more straightforward value; if portrait content is central to your routine, The Sero offers a capability ordinary televisions do not.
