What the published review can—and cannot—tell you
CHOICE identifies 2017 as the test year. That is historical evidence, not a current comparison against refrigerators sold today. The public listing shows a 2.5-star rating and headline specifications, but detailed temperature, freshness, noise, reliability, and satisfaction results are restricted to paid members. The visible figures therefore do not support a claim about the model’s specific performance in those categories or its present-day ranking.

The listed 665 kWh/year is a claimed energy-use figure from the CHOICE product listing, not a measurement of what every owner will use. Actual consumption depends on conditions such as installation and use; comparisons are most useful when figures are produced under comparable test conditions.
Owner reports mention ice-maker problems
Some public ProductReview posts describe ice-maker freezing or failure, including reports of repeat service issues. These are individual, self-selected accounts, not controlled diagnoses or a representative sample. They identify functions worth checking on a particular refrigerator but do not establish a failure rate or prove that every SRF719DLS has the same problem.

For a used unit, run the ice maker and water dispenser through their normal operation and ask for service records. A seller’s description or a brief demonstration cannot substitute for checking the functions yourself.

CHOICE labels the SRF719DLS discontinued. Samsung Australia still lists support information and a manual for the model, which can help existing owners identify instructions and settings; the manual is version 11, with a file modification date of 31 July 2019. A support page or manual does not confirm that replacement parts or repair service are currently available. Contact Samsung or a service provider with the exact model details before relying on a repair being possible.

- Measure the full route. Compare the refrigerator’s listed dimensions—183 × 91 × 74 cm—with the kitchen opening and measure doorways, hallways, stairs, and turns along the delivery route. CHOICE’s recommended installation dimensions are 188 × 101 × 79 cm; allow for the space your installation requires.
- Test water and ice. Confirm the dispenser works and the ice maker produces and releases ice. Ask whether either function has needed repair and review any service documentation.
- Check cooling operation. Let the refrigerator run and verify that both compartments are cooling as expected. If you cannot assess this during inspection, arrange an appropriate check rather than treating appearance as proof of operation.
- Confirm repair options before committing. Ask Samsung or a qualified service provider about current support for the exact SRF719DLS. The existence of online documentation does not guarantee parts availability.
- Judge the deal against current alternatives. Compare usable capacity and layout, fit, energy figures under comparable conditions, independent test results, water and ice functions, service coverage, and actual current prices. CHOICE’s displayed $5,149 is not evidence of what this discontinued model sells for now.
