There is no reliable, universal feature difference between Samsung QLED 6, 7, 8 and 9 Series TVs based on those digits alone. The series label is only part of a model identity: features vary by model year, country, screen size and exact model code. To compare two TVs, first find each full model code, then check the specifications for those exact sets.
Why the series numbers are not enough
Samsung uses series digits as labels within its model-coding system, but they do not form a complete specification. A digit cannot tell you by itself which processor, HDR format, backlight, refresh rate, ports or sound features a particular TV has. Nor does a number from one model year establish what a similarly numbered TV from another year can do.

The complete model code carries more identifying information, including the TV type, market, screen size, model, generation, tuner and design or country details. Samsung’s model-number guide explains how to interpret the code. Samsung’s Austrian guide describes 6, 7, 8 and 9 digits as series labels within its system; that does not make the digits a universal feature ranking across every market and year.

What a current Samsung QLED comparison shows
Samsung’s US comparison for 2025 lists Q8F, Q7F, Q6F and QEF1 families. These are specific model families, not verified equivalents of every older TV called a 6, 7, 8 or 9 Series. Their listed differences show why the exact model matters:

| 2025 US model family | Sizes listed | Processor and HDR | Motion specification | Design |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Q8F | 32–85 inches | Q4 AI Processor; Quantum HDR+ | Motion Xcelerator 144Hz for 55–85-inch sizes; the comparison does not list this rate for the 32-inch size | AirSlim |
| Q7F | 43–85 inches | Q4 AI Processor; Quantum HDR | Motion Xcelerator 60Hz | Slim Look |
| Q6F | 55–85 inches | Q4 Lite Processor; Quantum HDR | Motion Xcelerator 60Hz | Metal Stream |
| QEF1 | 55–85 inches | Q4 AI Processor; Quantum HDR | Motion Xcelerator 60Hz | Slim Look |
The same comparison lists 100% Color Volume with Quantum Dot for all four families. Samsung’s footnote says that measurement is in Movie Mode and DCI-P3 and is certified by VDE; it is not evidence that the four families perform identically in every respect. See Samsung’s US QLED comparison for the model-specific details.
For the Q8F, Samsung says 4K at 144Hz requires a compatible PC-connected game and graphics card. The listed 144Hz feature applies only to sizes 55–85 inches, so check the specification for the size you are considering rather than assuming every Q8F supports it. Samsung’s US catalog identifies Q8F and QEF1 as 2025 TVs; features and availability may differ in other countries or years. The catalog also lists the QEF1 family as a 2025 example.

QLED and Neo QLED are not interchangeable labels
QLED refers to Samsung TVs using quantum-dot technology with LED backlighting. Samsung describes Neo QLED as using Mini LED backlighting, while QLED models use Direct Full Array or Dual LED depending on the series. That distinction is separate from the 6, 7, 8 or 9 series digit. Check the exact TV’s listed backlight technology instead of inferring it from a series number. Samsung’s explanation is on its QLED guide.

How to compare the TVs you actually have in mind
- Find the full model code. On the TV, open Settings → Support → About TV. Record the complete model code, not just the series name.
- Confirm year, market and size. Check the exact code against Samsung’s support page or manual for your country. Do not assume that a model sold in another region has the same specifications.
- Compare the features that affect your use. Check the processor and HDR, backlight or dimming method, refresh rate and supported gaming input, ports, sound, size availability and price. Verify any refresh-rate claim for the specific screen size and input conditions.
- Use the exact model pages for the final decision. If a specification is absent from the official page or manual, treat it as not established rather than filling the gap using the series digit.
What can be concluded about 6, 7, 8 and 9 Series?
Without full model codes, year, market and size, a four-way ranking would be guesswork. Samsung’s current US 2025 comparison documents differences among Q8F, Q7F, Q6F and QEF1, but it does not establish a universal mapping between those names and older 6, 7, 8 or 9 Series televisions. Compare exact models, not series digits.
