Samsung’s Australian 2025 lineup announcement places the QN85F in a Neo QLED 4K range offered in 55-, 65-, 75- and 85-inch sizes, and says the range uses Quantum Matrix Mini LEDs. The announcement places the model in the lineup but does not compare it against the QN90F, QN80F or QN70F, or against rival brands.

Samsung also lists Filmmaker Mode, Supreme UHD Dimming, Wide Viewing Angle, Real Depth Enhancer and 4K AI Upscaling. Each is a named feature on the product page, and none has been independently measured for this model.
Picture and HDR: what Samsung claims and what is unverified
Samsung positions this set around Quantum Matrix Technology Plus, Neo Quantum HDR+ and Supreme UHD Dimming. In practice, the claims that matter most for a bright lounge or a dark home cinema are brightness in sustained HDR, black-level control from local dimming, blooming around bright objects on dark backgrounds, and how the panel handles reflections from windows and lamps. The manufacturer page does not give measured values for any of these, and the independent test data for this exact model was not available in the public material reviewed for this article.
That gap matters because the difference between two 75-inch sets with identical listed features can be large in a real room. If your viewing is mostly in a bright living room with large windows, look for independent figures for sustained HDR brightness and reflection handling before deciding. If you watch films in a darker space, local dimming behaviour and blooming are the measures to check.

Filmmaker Mode is the setting most worth using for film watching, because it is designed to keep the picture closer to the director’s intended colour and tone. Samsung lists it as a feature; whether it looks better to you than the default modes is a question for your own room.
Gaming: the 144 Hz claim has conditions
Samsung’s product page advertises “Get smooth motion for games up to 144Hz.” The same page ties the 144 Hz VRR capability to a compatible gaming PC that supports 4K resolution, 200 Motion Rate and 144 Hz VRR. That qualification is part of the feature, not a footnote. The 100 Hz figure in the specifications is the set’s native refresh rate, a separate value from the 144 Hz VRR capability.

Gaming PC
To use the 144 Hz VRR capability, you need a PC that can output 4K at 144 Hz over a cable and port that supports that bandwidth. Check your graphics card’s HDMI version and output specification, and the cable you are using, before assuming the full rate will work. Samsung lists FreeSync Premium Pro, ALLM and Game Motion Plus among the gaming features.
Consoles
The listing does not establish console-specific 4K at 120 Hz performance, and it does not confirm how each console’s output settings interact with the set’s VRR and ALLM options. Treat console support as something to verify with the console’s own display settings and the set’s input labels, rather than assuming parity with the PC claim.
Input lag
Measured input lag for this model is not established in the material reviewed. Samsung’s gaming features, such as Game Motion Plus and ALLM, are described as features; the listed specifications do not provide a latency figure. If input lag is central to your decision, look for a measured figure from an independent source for this exact model before buying.
Sound and connectivity
Samsung lists Dolby Atmos, Object Tracking Sound Lite, Q-Symphony and Adaptive Sound Pro for the built-in speakers, with a 40 W RMS output across a 2.2-channel configuration. Those are specifications. A set’s built-in speakers rarely match a separate soundbar or speaker system, and no independent audio measurement is available for this model, so do not assume the built-in sound will suit a home cinema setup.
For a soundbar or amplifier, the listed eARC port is what you need, and the optical digital audio output provides a fallback option. Confirm that the device you plan to connect supports eARC before buying.

The four HDMI inputs and two USB-A ports cover most set-top boxes, consoles, a PC and an external drive. Wi-Fi 5 is listed rather than Wi-Fi 6, which is worth knowing if your router supports a faster standard and you rely on streaming in a congested network. Ethernet is also available for a wired connection.
Software, apps and support period
The model runs Tizen Smart TV and lists Alexa, Bixby, AirPlay 2, SmartThings/Matter hub functionality and Multi-View. App, assistant and smart-home availability can vary by region, subscription, account and software version, so confirm that the services you use are offered in Australia before relying on them.
Samsung states that 2025 products receive Tizen OS upgrades for seven years starting in 2025. Its exact-model specifications state a security-update period of at least five years from launch, through 31 December 2030. These are Samsung’s stated software-support terms. They are not a promise about the television’s hardware life or about the continued availability of any app or service.

Samsung lists slim and full-motion slim wall-mount support. That statement refers to Samsung’s own mount types; it does not certify any third-party bracket or any particular wall. Check the bracket’s rated load against the 33.9 kg figure, confirm the bracket supports a 400 x 400 mm pattern, and make sure your wall can take the load.

- Measure the cabinet depth and width against the stand footprint and the front-to-back depth with stand.
- Plan for two people to lift and place the set, given its 33.9 kg weight with the stand.
- Confirm the wall construction and the mount’s rated load before drilling.
- Check the viewing height and the clearance between the bottom edge of the screen and any furniture or soundbar.

Samsung’s Australian support page for this model lists the user manual and the remote-control reference. The English user manual on that page was last modified on 24 September 2025, and the remote-control reference on 17 December 2025. The unanswered questions are the ones that decide most buying outcomes: sustained HDR brightness, local-dimming performance, reflection handling and input lag. Get those figures from an independent source for this exact Australian model before buying, check the console and gaming-cable requirements against your own setup, and confirm wall-mount capacity and room clearance before the set arrives.
For a bright room or a console-first setup, the gap in measured data is the main reason to wait for independent results. For a PC-based gaming room with a compatible graphics card and a compatible soundbar, the listed specifications give a clear starting point.
