Refresh rate: 100 Hz native and 144 Hz VRR
Samsung lists two different figures, and they should not be merged. The 100 Hz figure is the panel’s native refresh rate. The 144 Hz figure is the upper limit of variable refresh rate, which lets the TV adjust its refresh rate to match a compatible source’s frame rate, up to 144 Hz. The set is not described as a native 144 Hz panel.

- Confirm that your console or PC supports VRR over HDMI and that you are using a cable and port that carries the required bandwidth.
- Check the official manual for which HDMI input supports the gaming and VRR features you need. Samsung’s listing does not establish port-level capabilities in the sources reviewed.
- Turn on the VRR and game-mode options in the TV’s settings. The exact menu path varies with software version, so use the manual’s index rather than a fixed route.
- Test with a game that is known to run at a variable frame rate, and confirm that the picture stays smooth without visible tearing.

What Samsung claims
Samsung’s Australian product page describes Quantum Mini LED backlighting, Supreme Mini LED dimming and “100% Colour Volume”. It also says that VDE evaluated the QN80H series against DCI-P3 and cites test report 336574-TL6-1, valid until 8 February 2027. This is a manufacturer-published certification claim. It is not an independent measurement by this publication, and it does not state the measured figures.

Choose.tv’s review is the only independent assessment cited here. It describes the QN80H as capable and says that the number of local dimming zones can leave visible compromises in demanding scenes, such as high-contrast content with bright and dark areas close together. Reflections and room brightness
The retailer specification sheet does not list an anti-reflection treatment for the 65-inch model, so do not assume a glare-free screen. In a bright room, position the TV away from windows and direct light, and judge it under your own lighting before buying.

Audio and connectivity
The listing includes Dolby Atmos, Object Tracking Sound Lite, Q-Symphony and HDMI eARC. Those features are useful if you plan to add a soundbar. eARC is the usual route for sending audio back from the TV to a soundbar over HDMI, and the manual will show which port is labelled for it. Q-Symphony compatibility depends on the audio device you choose. The listing does not establish compatibility with any specific soundbar, so check that before buying one.
