The Samsung QA65Q7FAAWXXY is the Australian 65-inch version of Samsung’s 2025 Q7F: a 4K QLED smart TV with a wide set of streaming and gaming features, but a 50Hz native refresh rate and a 4K/60Hz input ceiling. It is best suited to everyday viewing in a dimmer room and casual gaming—not buyers seeking especially bright HDR or high-refresh gaming. Independent brightness measurements available for the Q7F come from a 43-inch US model, not this exact Australian 65-inch TV.
What the Australian QA65Q7FAAWXXY is
Samsung Australia identifies model QA65Q7FAAWXXY as a 65-inch 2025 Q7F 4K QLED Vision AI television. Its resolution is 3,840 × 2,160 and its native refresh rate is 50Hz. Check the full model suffix when comparing listings: Q7F names and features can vary by market, so a North American QN65Q7F is not necessarily the same product.

Samsung lists a Q4 AI Processor, 4K upscaling, Quantum HDR, HDR10+ support, Filmmaker Mode, Supreme UHD Dimming and Colour Booster Pro. “Supreme UHD Dimming” is Samsung’s picture-processing feature name; it should not be read as confirmation that the TV has local dimming.

The specifications confirm supported formats and processing features, but they do not establish how bright the screen gets or how much contrast it produces. Those measurements matter to how convincing HDR looks and how well a television copes with a bright room.

In a review published on 7 April 2026, Tom’s Guide reviewer Michael Desjardin reported that the publication bought and tested a 43-inch Q7F. That sample measured 307 nits SDR brightness and 309 nits HDR brightness on a 10% window. The reviewer described the series as direct-LED without local dimming and said its HDR effect was limited. These results are useful context for the Q7F line, not measurements of the Australian 65-inch QA65Q7FAAWXXY. [Tom’s Guide’s Q7F review]
Tom’s Guide recommends a dimly lit room and keeping the set out of sunlight. As the reviewer put it: “For everyday, good-ol’-fashioned TV-watching — cable TV, sports and the like — the Q7F will get the job done, but I highly recommend keeping it in dimly lit rooms, and especially out of the sunlight.”
Is the Samsung Q7F good for gaming?
It has useful gaming conveniences, but the panel and input specifications set a modest ceiling. Samsung lists Auto Game Mode (ALLM), Game Motion Plus, AI Auto Game Mode, HGiG and Gaming Hub. Its Australian specification sheet gives a maximum HDMI input of 4K at 60Hz across HDMI 1, 2 and 3.

Those omissions, alongside the 50Hz native refresh specification, make this a better fit for casual play than for players prioritising high frame rates and variable refresh on a console or gaming PC. Samsung’s published 4K/60Hz input limit is the key practical constraint; gaming modes do not turn the set into a 120Hz display.

Smart features
The TV runs Samsung’s Tizen platform and lists Samsung TV Plus, AirPlay 2, and SmartThings/Matter hub features. Availability of particular apps and services can depend on region, internet access, account requirements and subscriptions. Samsung notes that Kayo and BINGE are unavailable in very remote regions of Australia.

Samsung says products released in 2025 receive seven years of Tizen OS upgrades starting in 2025. That is a software-upgrade commitment, not a guarantee of hardware performance, features or durability for seven years.
Ports and wireless
Samsung specifies three HDMI inputs, one USB-A port, Ethernet, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3 and eARC. The three HDMI inputs share the stated maximum of 4K/60Hz. Consider how many devices—such as a console, set-top box and soundbar—need to remain connected when deciding whether the available inputs suit your setup.

The built-in speakers are rated at 20W RMS across two channels. Samsung also lists OTS Lite and Q-Symphony. A compatible soundbar is an optional route to a more substantial audio setup; check compatibility for the specific soundbar before buying it for Q-Symphony pairing.

The QA65Q7FAAWXXY may suit a buyer who wants a large 4K QLED with Samsung’s smart-TV features and gaming conveniences for ordinary viewing and casual play, especially in a room without strong direct sunlight. It is a less natural fit for someone who specifically wants punchy HDR in a bright room or advanced high-refresh gaming.
When comparing similarly priced 65-inch TVs, look beyond the QLED label and advertised HDR formats. Check:
