The Samsung QA65Q60DAWXXY is the Australian 65-inch QLED Q60D 4K smart TV, a 2024 model aimed at everyday television and streaming. An independent review of the Q60D series found crisp detail, vivid colour and better-than-expected contrast, but also limited built-in bass and no 4K 120Hz or variable refresh rate (VRR). That review tested the 50-inch version, so its hands-on findings are evidence about the series—not a direct test of this exact 65-inch set.
What the QA65Q60DAWXXY is
Samsung Australia identifies QA65Q60DAWXXY as its 65-inch QLED Q60D 4K Smart TV. The Q60D is a 2024 generation; TechRadar lists its release as April 2024. Samsung’s exact-model support page is the right place to check the manual and model-specific support material before installation or troubleshooting.

Samsung’s Q60D family materials describe Quantum Dot colour, 4K upscaling, Tizen, Quantum Processor Lite 4K, Dual LED, HDR10+, a 20 W two-channel speaker system, OTS Lite and Q-Symphony. The family specification sheet is not a substitute for the 65-inch model manual, so confirm size-specific details there rather than assuming every family specification applies identically.
How good is its picture?
TechRadar reviewer James Davidson’s September 22, 2024 review of a 50-inch Q60D reported refined detail and textures, vivid colour and solid, better-than-expected contrast for the series. That is encouraging for a buyer seeking a large 4K screen for general viewing, but it is not a measured assessment of the 65-inch panel in a particular room.
#1 Best Overall
- Breathtaking picture: Sharp 4K brings out rich detail on our 65" flat screen TV, while the QLED screen and HDR10 create bright, accurate colors. Roku Smart Picture cleans up incoming TV signals, optimizes them, and chooses the right picture mode.
- Seamless streaming: With fast Wi-Fi and apps that launch in a snap, Roku Select Series TVs get you to your entertainment quickly. You get excellent picture quality, clear sound, automatic updates, and more. It’s simple to use. Hard to outgrow.
- TV, simplified: With setup that only takes minutes, a simple-to-navigate Home Screen, and an uncluttered remote control that does all you need—Roku makes it easier to watch the TV you love.
- A world of free entertainment: Enjoy a huge selection of free live TV, news, sports, movies, shows, and much more—all just a click away.
- More streaming, less searching: With personalized picks right on your Home Screen, quick access to the sports and entertainment you watch most, and fast and easy search in one place—the days of endless scrolling are over.
Picture quality depends on more than the QLED label. If you watch in a bright room, care about dark-scene contrast, or sit at a wide angle, compare direct tests of the alternatives you are considering. In particular, the Q60D review notes entry-level mini-LED competition; mini-LED backlighting and local dimming can be relevant distinctions, but a category name alone does not establish which television looks better.
Is the Samsung Q60D good for gaming?
It is a more natural fit for casual play than for someone choosing a TV specifically for high-refresh-rate console or PC gaming. The series review identifies Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) and gaming features, but says the Q60D lacks both 4K 120Hz and VRR. Those omissions matter if your priority is smoother high-frame-rate play or a variable refresh rate to reduce tearing and stutter.

TechRadar’s specification table lists a 60Hz refresh rate and three HDMI 2.0 ports for the reviewed Q60D. Because that hands-on unit was 50 inches and not the Australian QA65Q60DAWXXY, check the exact 65-inch manual for its port and specification details before buying around a particular console, PC, or connection setup. Match the TV’s capabilities to the games and devices you actually use rather than treating the presence of ALLM as a substitute for 120Hz or VRR.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat is the sound like, and do you need a soundbar?
The review found dialogue clear but bass and soundstage limited. That may be adequate for news, casual viewing, or a secondary room; for films and a main living-room TV, an external soundbar is worth considering if fuller low end or a wider sound is important to you. The review supports the case for considering the category, not a particular soundbar model, so confirm connection and feature compatibility for any system you choose.

Which HDR formats does it support?
TechRadar lists HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG for the reviewed Q60D, and says Dolby Vision is not supported. This is a series-review specification, not a direct verification of the Australian 65-inch unit. If a service or disc library you use relies on Dolby Vision, check the exact model documentation and decide whether that format is a requirement before purchase.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the QA65Q60DAWXXY worth buying?
It is worth shortlisting if you want a 65-inch 4K smart TV for ordinary viewing and streaming, value the Q60D series’ reported colour and detail, and are comfortable with its gaming limits. It is less compelling for a buyer prioritising 4K 120Hz, VRR, Dolby Vision, stronger built-in bass, or the local-dimming approach associated with mini-LED sets. TechRadar’s review also names Samsung’s step-up Q80D as a comparison, but its price comparisons are dated and do not establish which set is better value in Australia now.

TechRadar listed AU$1,495 as the 65-inch Q60D release-era price in 2024. That historical figure is not a current price recommendation. Appliances Online has an Australian listing for the exact model, but a listing alone does not establish current stock or a live price. Compare current Australian offers, delivery and installation costs, and warranty terms before deciding.

What to verify before ordering
- Confirm the listing is for the Australian QA65Q60DAWXXY, not a Q60D variant with a different regional suffix.
- Use Samsung’s exact-model support page and manual to verify dimensions, ports, tuner, stand or feet, and installation requirements.
- Check that the refresh-rate, VRR, HDMI and HDR capabilities meet your console, PC and content needs.
- Compare the live local price and availability, plus delivery, installation and warranty terms; do not use the 2024 launch price as a current benchmark.
- Decide whether the built-in audio is sufficient for your room or whether a compatible soundbar belongs in your budget.
