The Australian Samsung QA55S95FAWXXY is the 55-inch S95F 4K OLED, and its clearest point of difference is its glare-reducing matte screen. That makes it a compelling option for rooms where reflections are a distraction. It also offers four HDMI inputs and gaming support up to 165Hz, subject to compatible equipment and settings. The trade-offs are that matte-screen rendering is a matter of taste, Samsung does not list Dolby Vision for this model, and current Australian availability and pricing need checking.

What is the Samsung QA55S95FAWXXY?

QA55S95FAWXXY is Samsung Australia’s model code for the 55-inch OLED S95F 4K Vision AI Smart TV. Samsung lists a 3,840 × 2,160 resolution, OLED Glare Free certification and a 100Hz native refresh rate. Its Australian specification sheet also lists a maximum HDMI input rate of 4K at 165Hz on all four HDMI ports. These figures describe different things: 100Hz is the stated native refresh rate, while 165Hz is the maximum supported gaming input under compatible conditions.

The 55-, 65- and 77-inch S95F models are identified as QD-OLED in TechRadar’s June 21, 2025 review. That panel description should not be generalized to the 83-inch S95F, which the review says uses a different panel type, or to models sold in other regions.

Is the S95F good in a bright room?

Bright-room viewing is the strongest reason to consider this TV. The matte, glare-reducing screen is intended to limit distracting reflections, and TechRadar describes it as a strength for brighter rooms. If a window, lamp or other light source regularly reflects in your current TV, that design may be more useful than a small difference in headline specifications.

Matte and glossy screens render reflections and the picture differently, so the finish is also a preference rather than an automatic upgrade. If possible, compare the S95F with a glossy OLED in similar lighting before buying. TechRadar’s comparison with the LG G5 says the LG has richer black levels in most conditions, while the Samsung is better suited to bright rooms; those are the reviewer’s judgments, not a guarantee for every room or viewer.

How good is it for gaming?

Samsung lists 4K 165Hz as the maximum HDMI input rate on each of the four ports. Its May 19, 2025 Australian gaming announcement also identifies NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) for the S95F. The 165Hz figure is not a promise that every console, PC, game or connection will run at that rate: the source device must support the desired output, and settings may need to be configured.

  • Samsung says G-SYNC requires a compatible NVIDIA graphics card and may require VRR settings to be enabled on both the TV and in the GPU driver.
  • Check that your PC or console can output the resolution and refresh rate you want, and use an appropriate HDMI connection.
  • There are four HDMI inputs, which gives room to connect multiple gaming devices without relying immediately on an external switch.

Samsung’s executive vice president Kevin Lee described the 2025 OLED range as delivering “elite-level performance” for competitive players. That is Samsung’s promotional characterization, not an independent performance test.

Picture quality, HDR and formats

Samsung lists an NQ4 AI Gen3 processor, OLED HDR Pro, HDR10+ Adaptive and HDR10+ Gaming, Ultra Viewing Angle, 4K AI Upscaling Pro and Auto HDR Remastering Pro. These are manufacturer-listed features; their presence alone does not establish how much each improves a particular film, game or broadcast.

The Australian specifications list HDR10+ but do not list Dolby Vision. TechRadar lists HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG for the S95F. If Dolby Vision is important for your streaming services or playback devices, check the format support of the TV and your complete viewing setup before purchase rather than assuming it is included.

No independent laboratory measurement specific to the Australian QA55S95FAWXXY is established here, so brightness figures or other test results from a different size, region or model should not be treated as measurements of this exact unit.

Sound and connections

The Australian specification sheet lists a 70W RMS, 4.2.2-channel speaker system, Dolby Atmos, Object Tracking Sound+ and Q-Symphony. It also includes eARC, which can send audio to compatible external equipment. The listed speaker configuration and features are useful on paper, but they do not replace listening for yourself if built-in sound quality is a major buying factor; no independent acoustic test of this exact Australian model is established here.

Will it fit your wall or TV unit?

Samsung lists VESA mounting dimensions of 400 × 300mm. The set weighs 13.8kg without the stand and measures 1,224.6 × 706.3 × 11.0mm without the stand; with the stand, the listed weight is 23.9kg. Confirm that any mount matches the VESA pattern, is rated for the TV’s weight and is appropriate for your wall construction. Check the stand dimensions and furniture support separately if placing it on a cabinet.

Software and support period

The TV runs Samsung’s Tizen Smart TV software. Samsung says Tizen OS upgrades are supported for seven years from the 2025 release year. Separately, its Australian product information lists a security update period of “at least 5 years from launch” and gives 31 December 2030 as a date. These statements refer to different kinds of support; check Samsung’s current terms for the precise coverage applicable to your purchase.

Price and availability in Australia

Samsung Australia’s product page showed “Not for sale” when checked for this review. That does not establish that Australian retailers have no stock. Check current local listings for the exact QA55S95FAWXXY code, and confirm price, delivery, warranty and stock before ordering. Historical launch prices and overseas model listings are not reliable substitutes for a current Australian offer.

Should you buy the Samsung QA55S95FAWXXY?

The S95F is most persuasive if you want a premium 55-inch OLED for a bright room and value a matte anti-reflection screen alongside extensive gaming inputs. Its 165Hz gaming support is attractive for compatible PC setups, but the stated 100Hz native refresh rate and conditional maximum input rate should not be conflated. The key decision is whether the matte finish suits your viewing preference, and whether its format support, current price and availability fit your needs.

For an alternative, TechRadar’s S95F versus LG G5 comparison frames the choice around room conditions and picture preference: it favors the Samsung for bright rooms and the LG for richer black levels in most conditions. Treat that as a reviewer comparison, not a universal result, and compare the screens in person if possible.
