The Samsung QA55S85FAEXXY is the Australian-market 55-inch S85F: a 4K OLED TV with a listed 100 Hz native refresh rate, HDR10+ Adaptive and Gaming support, and Samsung’s Tizen smart-TV platform. Its spec sheet makes it a feature-rich OLED option, but the available independent brightness result is from a different tested configuration—not this exact Australian SKU. Judge it against current Australian pricing and verified, region-matched tests before buying.
What is the Samsung QA55S85FAEXXY?
Samsung Australia identifies QA55S85FAEXXY as its “55" OLED S85F 4K Samsung Vision AI Smart TV.” The model code matters: S85F reviews and specifications can vary by market, screen size and panel configuration, so evidence about another S85F should not automatically be treated as a test of this Australian unit.

Samsung lists a 55-inch screen, 3,840 × 2,160 resolution and 100 Hz native refresh rate. That establishes the advertised panel resolution and refresh specification; it does not by itself establish measured motion performance, input lag or the exact refresh and variable-refresh options available to a connected gaming device.

What independent testing says—and does not say
TechRadar’s S85F review describes the television as a more affordable, feature-packed OLED in Samsung’s 2025 range. It also notes market and panel variation, including a report that US 55- and 65-inch versions use QD-OLED panels. That does not establish the panel type in every market, or in the Australian QA55S85FAEXXY. Check the exact Australian model and seek testing of that configuration rather than transferring a result across regions.
In a separate comparison, TechRadar reported a 777-nit HDR peak-brightness measurement for its tested S85F in Filmmaker Mode. The same article reported 2,132 nits for its tested S95F. Those are reviewer measurements of the configurations tested, not Samsung specifications; the S85F figure is not an official brightness rating for this Australian SKU and should not be generalized to every size, region or panel type.
No exact-SKU independent lab test is established here. Without one, there is no sound basis for claiming measured brightness, reflection handling, HDR performance, motion quality, gaming latency or speaker performance for the QA55S85FAEXXY. For a bright room or demanding gaming use, look for measurements that identify the precise model code, region, panel variant, firmware and test method.

Is the S85F a good fit for your room and devices?
Picture quality and viewing conditions
The OLED designation and Samsung’s listed picture features identify the product category, but they do not tell you how bright this exact unit gets or how well it handles reflections in your room. If you watch in daylight or opposite windows, prioritize a region-matched review that measures both HDR brightness and reflection handling. For dark-room viewing, also compare measured HDR behavior and picture-mode results rather than relying on a feature name alone.
Gaming
Samsung lists a 100 Hz native refresh rate and HDR10+ Gaming. Those facts may be relevant when comparing TVs, but they are not a complete gaming-compatibility verdict. Before buying for a console or PC, verify the specific HDMI capabilities, variable refresh rate support, supported resolutions and refresh rates, and measured input latency for this exact SKU. The official listing cited here does not establish those results.
Streaming, HDR and sound
Samsung lists HDR10+ Adaptive/Gaming and Dolby Atmos. Compare HDR-format support with the streaming services and devices you actually use; a format label does not show whether every app or source supplies compatible content. Dolby Atmos support is likewise not proof of a particular built-in sound quality or a requirement to buy a soundbar. Check the TV’s sound performance and connection needs against your room and equipment.

Software longevity
Samsung’s stated commitment is “Tizen OS upgrades will be provided for 7 years, starting from release year 2025.” It is a useful support commitment when considering how long you expect to keep the TV, but it is Samsung’s promise about Tizen OS upgrades—not a guarantee of a particular feature, app’s continued availability or a specific update schedule.
How to compare its value in Australia
Prices and stock change, and no current price or live offer is established here. Compare the exact QA55S85FAEXXY against other 55-inch OLEDs at the price you can actually buy, using the details that affect your viewing rather than a generic model-family comparison.
- Brightness and room fit: Find measured SDR and HDR brightness and reflection handling for the relevant regional model.
- Panel and model code: Confirm the panel type and full SKU; do not assume another country’s S85F configuration is identical.
- Gaming: Match verified HDMI, VRR, supported refresh modes and input-lag results to your console or PC.
- HDR formats: Check format compatibility against the services and devices you use.
- Audio: Assess built-in sound for your room and decide whether your existing audio equipment is sufficient.
- Software: Weigh Samsung’s seven-year Tizen OS upgrade statement against the competing TVs’ update policies and interfaces.
- Total purchase terms: Compare current Australian price, delivery, returns and warranty for the exact model and seller.
The Good Guys lists the exact Australian model, but that listing alone does not establish current stock, price or warranty terms. Check the live retailer details before ordering. Samsung’s Australian product page is the primary source for its advertised features; its model support page is the starting point for manuals and service resources.

Wall mounting the QA55S85FAEXXY
Samsung names WMN-B05FB/XY and WMN-B50EB/XY as supported slim and full-motion slim wall-mount models. Verify compatibility for the exact TV and mount SKU before purchase, and check the installation manual for included hardware, wall construction and load requirements. A model being listed as supported does not establish that every wall or installation is suitable.
Verdict
The QA55S85FAEXXY is worth considering if you want a 55-inch Australian-market OLED and value Samsung’s listed picture features, 100 Hz native refresh rate and stated Tizen upgrade commitment. The main buying caveat is evidence: independent results cited for the S85F do not establish performance for this exact Australian SKU. Buy on the strength of verified local testing and a competitive current price—not on a brightness figure or panel assumption borrowed from another market.
