The Samsung QA55QN80HAWXXY is the Australian 55-inch 2026 QN80H Neo QLED 4K TV. Its published specifications include four HDMI inputs rated for up to 4K at 144 Hz, a 100 Hz native refresh rate with 144 Hz VRR, Quantum Mini LED backlighting and Tizen OS. That makes it a feature-rich option on paper, but there is no independent instrumented review of this exact Australian model in the evidence available here. Treat its picture and gaming features as manufacturer specifications, not verified test results.

What is the Samsung QA55QN80HAWXXY?

Samsung Australia identifies QA55QN80HAWXXY as the 55-inch QN80H, a 2026 Neo QLED television with a 3840 × 2160 resolution. Its official specifications list an NQ4 AI Gen2 Processor, 4K AI Upscaling and Tizen OS. These are product claims and feature names; they do not establish how well the TV performs in independent testing.

The QN80H’s picture system combines Quantum Mini LED backlighting with Supreme Mini LED Dimming. Samsung also lists Real Depth Enhancer, Colour Booster Pro, HDR Brightness Optimiser, Filmmaker Mode and basic Smart Calibration. Those features describe the set’s processing and modes, but the published page does not provide independent measurements of brightness, contrast, blooming, colour accuracy or reflection handling for this exact 55-inch SKU. Samsung Australia’s product page has the full specification list.

How good is its picture and HDR support?

Samsung lists HDR10+ Adaptive, HDR10+ Gaming and HDR10+ Advanced, along with Filmmaker Mode. HDR10+ support is a useful format specification, but it does not by itself predict the visible HDR impact: that also depends on the content and the TV’s actual peak brightness, tone mapping and dimming performance, none of which is established here by independent measurement.

Samsung’s product page reports that VDE Testing and Certification Institute evaluated the QN80H series at 100% colour volume according to DCI-P3. The cited report is 336574-TL6-1, valid through 8 February 2027. This is a Samsung-reported, series-level evaluation—not an independent measurement of the QA55QN80HAWXXY sample or proof of its colour accuracy in a particular picture mode.

Is the QN80H suitable for gaming?

Samsung specifies a 100 Hz native refresh rate and 144 Hz VRR, and lists a maximum HDMI input rate of 4K at 144 Hz on HDMI 1–4. In practical terms, the TV has four HDMI inputs with that stated capability; a connected console or PC must also support the desired resolution and refresh rate, and the source, settings and content determine what signal it can deliver. The TV’s listed DLG 240 Hz feature is a separate specification and should not be confused with a native 240 Hz panel refresh rate.

The set also lists Anynet+ HDMI-CEC, eARC and two USB-A ports. Samsung’s specifications do not establish input lag or performance in particular games, so those should not be inferred from the refresh-rate figures alone.

App availability and service features can vary by region and change over time. Check that the services you use are available on the Australian model before buying.

Is the built-in audio enough?

The QA55QN80HAWXXY has a listed 30 W RMS, two-channel speaker setup. Samsung also specifies Dolby Atmos, OTS Lite, Q-Symphony, Active Voice Amplifier Pro and Adaptive Sound Pro. These are the manufacturer’s audio features; the specifications do not establish how loud or convincing the speakers sound in a particular room.

If you want fuller sound or stronger bass, an external sound system is an option. The Good Guys lists Samsung’s HW-Q600H/XY as suitable for this TV, but that is a retailer compatibility lead rather than confirmation of every feature or regional pairing. Check current Samsung documentation for exact compatibility before choosing a soundbar. The Good Guys’ listing also contains retailer-provided product details.

What evidence is available about real-world performance?

The available independent editorial evidence is a comparison, not a lab review of the Australian QA55QN80HAWXXY. In a 5 June 2026 side-by-side comparison, TechRadar’s James Davidson said he would favor the QN80H over the M80H for movies, motion handling and brightness, and also mentioned the previous-year QN90F as an alternative. That judgment is useful context, but it is one writer’s comparison and does not establish measured results for this exact Australian SKU. The article’s pricing references are dated, so they should not be used as current Australian prices. Read the TechRadar comparison.

Samsung’s product page includes customer reviews, some of which are identified as incentivised or republished from other regional model pages. The Good Guys says its reviews come from verified purchasers who may have received incentives. Such comments can describe individual ownership experiences, but they are not controlled tests or a reliable population-wide measure of performance.

How long will Samsung support it?

Samsung’s product page states: “Tizen OS upgrades will be provided for 7 years, starting from release year 2025.” The page separately gives a security update period ending 31 December 2031. These are distinct statements: the seven-year OS policy begins from the stated 2025 release year, while the listed security period has its own end date. Check Samsung’s support information for current files and model-specific details.

When accessed for this article, Samsung’s Australian model support page listed software file version 0100-1204.6, modified 2 July 2026, and a user manual modified 9 April 2026. Support files and dates can change.

What should Australian buyers check before purchase?

  • Compare the current Australian price and stock for this exact model code; the available comparison article’s prices are no longer a dependable guide.
  • Confirm the retailer’s current warranty terms and the applicable Australian energy label. The Good Guys listing gives a one-year manufacturer warranty, a 4.5-star energy rating, 375 kWh/year and 0.5 W standby, but retailer listings can change.
  • If wall-mounting, The Good Guys lists a 300 × 200 mm VESA pattern and a recommended viewing distance of 170 cm. Verify the mount’s load rating, wall construction and installation requirements independently.
  • If planning to use a soundbar, confirm the exact model’s regional compatibility and intended connection with current Samsung documentation.

Is the Samsung QN80H worth buying?

The QA55QN80HAWXXY is worth considering if you want a 55-inch 4K Mini LED TV with four HDMI inputs specified for up to 4K/144 Hz and Samsung’s stated Tizen upgrade policy. Its appeal is clearest from the breadth of its published features. The central limitation for judging value is that there is no independent instrumented test of this exact Australian model here, so picture quality, gaming responsiveness and audio performance remain unverified. Make the decision against its current price and your priorities rather than treating the feature list as a performance verdict.
