The Samsung QA55QN70FAWXXY is the Australian 55-inch version of Samsung’s 2025 QN70F Neo QLED 4K TV. Its headline appeal is a 100 Hz native panel with support for gaming input up to 4K at 144 Hz, plus four HDMI ports. Samsung’s specifications make it a well-connected option for gaming and everyday viewing, but independent testing of a different-size, US-market QN70F found shortcomings in HDR and color accuracy. That review is useful family-level context, not a direct test of this Australian 55-inch model.
What is the Samsung QA55QN70FAWXXY?
It is a 55-inch 4K (3840 × 2160) Neo QLED television in Samsung’s QN70F range, listed for Australia. Samsung specifies a 100 Hz native refresh rate and separately advertises Motion Xcelerator support for gaming input up to 144 Hz. Those figures describe different things: 100 Hz is the stated native refresh rate, while 144 Hz is the maximum supported gaming input claim. A compatible source, connection and signal configuration are needed to use high-refresh modes.

The set runs Samsung’s Tizen platform and uses the NQ4 AI Gen2 processor, with features including 4K AI Upscaling, HDR10+ Adaptive and HDR10+ Gaming, and Filmmaker Mode. Samsung also lists a built-in Zigbee/Thread module, an Aero Center stand, an AirSlim design and a TM2360E remote. The feature list describes capabilities, not a guarantee that every source will look better with AI processing enabled.
Picture quality: what the available evidence says
Samsung’s product specifications establish the resolution, refresh claims and supported formats, but do not provide independent measurements of brightness, contrast or color accuracy for this exact Australian 55-inch SKU. The most relevant independent review in the available evidence is Tom’s Guide’s review by Sean Captain, published 8 April 2026. It tested a US-market 65-inch QN70F, not the QA55QN70FAWXXY.

Tom’s Guide praised that tested model’s standard-mode brightness and AI enhancement, while criticizing HDR performance and color accuracy. It also reported that Filmmaker Mode was dim. The reviewer’s overall assessment was that AI Mode made color and HDR rendering more pleasant but did not close the gap with stronger-performing TVs. Treat these observations as a warning about the QN70F family, not measured results for the Australian 55-inch set.
The tested US model did not support Dolby Vision, and Samsung’s Australian specification list names HDR10+ formats rather than Dolby Vision. Buyers who specifically want Dolby Vision should verify format support on the exact TV they are considering rather than assume that a broad HDR label includes it.
Is the QN70F good for gaming, and does it support 144 Hz?
Samsung lists maximum 4K 144 Hz input on all four HDMI ports for this model, alongside a 100 Hz native refresh specification. The 144 Hz figure is therefore a supported input mode, not the panel’s stated native refresh rate. For a high-refresh signal, confirm that the console or PC, game, cable and output settings support the resolution and refresh combination you intend to use.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTom’s Guide described the US 65-inch QN70F it tested as responsive for gaming and highlighted low input lag and high-refresh support. That is encouraging family-level evidence, but it does not establish measured input lag or performance for this Australian 55-inch unit. Samsung’s listed specifications are the stronger guide to its supported connections and input modes.
Ports, connectivity and sound
| Feature | Samsung Australia specification for QA55QN70FAWXXY |
|---|---|
| HDMI | 4 ports; maximum input rate listed as 4K 144 Hz on HDMI 1–4 |
| Audio return | eARC |
| USB | 2 USB-A ports |
| Other wired connections | Optical digital audio output and 1 Ethernet LAN port |
| Wireless | Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.3 |
| Built-in audio | 20 W, 2-channel |
The four HDMI inputs offer room for several sources, and eARC provides a straightforward connection for an optional compatible soundbar. Samsung specifies built-in audio at 20 W over two channels; the specification alone does not establish how it sounds in a particular room. A soundbar is an option for viewers who want a different audio setup, not a requirement implied by the published figures.
Design, mounting and software support
Samsung lists an Aero Center stand and slim AirSlim design, and says the set supports slim or full-motion wall mounts. The product information cited here does not establish a particular third-party mount’s fit, so check the mount’s size, load rating and compatibility with the TV before buying.

Samsung’s Australian product page states a seven-year Tizen upgrade commitment for 2025 releases. The company excludes hardware-related performance, features and durability from that commitment; it should not be read as a seven-year guarantee of unchanged hardware capability or overall product life.

Samsung Australia’s 2025 QN70F launch announcement gave a 55-inch launch RRP of A$2,069. The same announcement listed A$2,529 for 65 inches, A$3,449 for 75 inches and A$4,599 for 85 inches, and said dealer pricing was at dealer discretion. These are historical launch RRPs, not current street prices.
CHOICE’s public listing for the exact QA55QN70FAWXXY currently marks it discontinued and displays $1,799. That displayed figure is not evidence of a live offer or available stock. Check that any Australian retailer listing is for the exact Australian SKU, and confirm current price, stock and warranty before purchasing. CHOICE’s public listing gives a one-year warranty, but its members-only test scores and other metrics cannot be inferred from the public information.
Should you buy the Samsung QA55QN70FAWXXY?
Consider it if you want a 55-inch 4K Samsung with four HDMI ports, eARC and a clearly stated 4K 144 Hz input capability for gaming sources. Be more cautious if your priorities are proven HDR performance, color accuracy or Dolby Vision: the independent review evidence is from a US 65-inch model, and its criticisms are relevant context rather than a direct verdict on this SKU.
Because the exact model is marked discontinued by CHOICE, availability and price may matter more than the original launch positioning. Compare any remaining offer with current Australian alternatives on native refresh and gaming input support, HDR and color performance, Dolby Vision, dark-room contrast, connection needs, and warranty. US-market comparisons discussed by Tom’s Guide should not be treated as Australian recommendations without checking local model names, availability and pricing.
