To find junk mail on a Samsung phone, first check which email app you use: Gmail keeps it in Spam, while Samsung Email lists it as Spam or sometimes Junk under the relevant account. The phone brand does not determine which app or folder name you’ll see.
Find the spam folder in Gmail
- Open the Gmail app.
- Tap the three-line menu in the top-left corner.
- Scroll the menu if needed, then tap Spam.
To return a legitimate message to your inbox, open it, tap More (the three-dot menu), then tap Report not spam. Gmail removes it from Spam. Google says future messages from that sender will not go to Spam after you take this action. Google’s Gmail Help for Android also explains that reporting spam helps Gmail identify similar messages more efficiently.

To report an unwanted message from your inbox, open it, tap More, then choose Report spam. Google says Gmail receives a copy of messages users report or move to Spam and may analyze it to help protect against spam and abuse.

- Open Email or Samsung Email.
- Tap the three-line menu in the top-left corner.
- Expand the account you want to check, then tap Spam or Junk, depending on the account’s folder naming and the app display.
To restore a wanted message, open it and choose Not spam. Samsung’s support instructions use this label for moving a message back to the inbox. Samsung’s Email instructions show the folder and recovery steps.

If the folder is missing
In Samsung Email, check that you expanded the correct account. If you still cannot see the folder, look for All folders. Samsung’s folder-management options let you show or hide folders and change their order; the precise menu wording can vary by app version and device software.
Check which mail app you have
Search your phone for Gmail, Email, or Outlook, or check the app name and icon. A Galaxy phone may use Gmail, Samsung Email, Outlook, or another mail app, and each app has its own folder list. Samsung Email supports multiple providers, including Google, Yahoo, and Microsoft. Samsung’s support documentation describes provider setup and notes that menus can vary by device model and software version. The Samsung Email Google Play listing describes support for POP3 and IMAP personal accounts and Exchange ActiveSync business accounts.

If the message or folder still is not there
- Check the right account: Spam or Junk folders are shown for a particular account, so expand the account that received the message.
- Try the provider’s own app or website: If the folder exists but the message is absent, check the service where that email account is hosted. Folder synchronization and naming are not established as universal across providers and account types, so Samsung Email may not mirror every provider’s Junk folder in the same way.
- Be cautious with suspicious messages: A message’s presence in Spam does not prove it is safe. Google advises against replying to suspicious messages or opening their links, especially when they ask for personal information. Use the app’s spam or phishing-reporting option when appropriate. Google’s guidance covers reporting and suspicious-message handling.
