Samsung Electronics Singapore and New York-based AI company Reality Defender signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on 14 October 2026 to develop and deploy an enterprise deepfake-detection solution in Singapore. The proposed system is designed to identify AI-generated voice, video and images directly on compatible Galaxy devices, working with Samsung Knox security controls. It is not yet a confirmed consumer feature or a general release for every Samsung phone.
What Samsung and Reality Defender agreed to do
The MoU covers a proposed enterprise deployment for organisations in Singapore. Samsung says the partners will work on an on-device system that can flag potentially synthetic voice recordings, videos and images before sensitive media has to be processed in the cloud.

The announcement describes a development and deployment plan rather than a product launch. It does not provide a consumer release date, pricing, technical performance results or confirmation that the detector is active on current Galaxy phones.

The named Galaxy hardware
The device footnote identifies the “Galaxy S26 Series and beyond; and Galaxy flagship tablets” as the initial hardware family. That wording establishes the proposed target devices, not universal support across the Galaxy range.

How the proposed detector is supposed to work
On-device analysis
Samsung’s approach is to analyse media on a secured Galaxy device. Keeping processing on the device could reduce the need to upload recordings or images containing confidential business, customer or identity information. The announcement does not claim that every detection task will always run without network connectivity, nor does it publish a processing architecture or measured privacy benefit.
Reality Defender’s multimodal models
Reality Defender describes an ensemble of AI models that checks AI-generated voice, video and images in real time. Its stated enterprise use cases include audio impersonation during live calls and deepfake screening in know-your-customer (KYC) and onboarding workflows. The company says its platform is designed for enterprise and government deployments and uses a multimodal approach rather than relying on a single type of media signal.

Reality Defender co-founder and chief executive Ben Colman said the company’s detection is “stateless by design: nothing enrolled, nothing stored.” That is a description of the company’s stated design goal; the Samsung announcement does not provide an independent audit of retention, accuracy or false positives for this proposed Galaxy implementation.

Samsung says the detection capability is intended to operate alongside Samsung Knox. In Samsung’s description, Knox Vault is an isolated environment for sensitive data that is separated from the main operating system. Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) provides encrypted storage environments for individual apps.

For an enterprise, those controls could help separate detection data and credentials from ordinary applications. The MoU does not say exactly which Knox components will be mandatory, how administrators will configure policies, or whether the final deployment will require a particular Galaxy Enterprise Edition or software version.
Why Singapore is the initial focus
Samsung cites several indicators of deepfake-related fraud exposure in Singapore:
Rank #4
- YOUR CONTENT, SUPER SMOOTH: The ultra-clear 6.7" FHD+ Super AMOLED display of Galaxy A17 5G helps bring your content to life, whether you're scrolling through recipes or video chatting with loved ones.¹
- LIVE FAST. CHARGE FASTER: Focus more on the moment and less on your battery percentage with Galaxy A17 5G. Super Fast Charging powers up your battery so you can get back to life sooner.²

- Regula reported in 2024 that 56% of businesses in Singapore had faced incidents of audio deepfake fraud.
- The same 2024 research reported that 52% of companies had experienced video deepfakes.
- Singapore Police Force figures cited by Samsung show at least S$242.9 million was lost to Government Officials Impersonation Scams in 2025. That represented 26.6% of scam losses by amount.
These figures explain the enterprise focus: banks, public agencies, telecommunications companies and other organisations routinely make high-trust decisions over calls, video meetings and identity-verification channels. A detector that can examine media before it reaches cloud services could be useful where data-residency, confidentiality or response-time requirements limit external processing.

What the announcement means for Galaxy owners
Will a Samsung phone detect deepfakes now?
No confirmed consumer rollout was announced. The MoU describes a proposed enterprise solution in Singapore, so Galaxy owners should not assume that a built-in deepfake detector is currently enabled on their phone.
Best Value
- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.
- Camera: 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 50 MP, f/1.8, (wide), 1/2.76", 0.64µm, AF | 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro). Battery: 5000 mAh, non-removable | A power adapter is NOT included.
Does the Galaxy S26 have this feature?
The Galaxy S26 Series is named as part of the proposed supported hardware family, but the announcement does not establish that detection is already available on Galaxy S26 devices. It also does not specify a required One UI release, regional firmware update or app installation.
Will older Galaxy phones be supported?
Samsung names the Galaxy S26 Series and later devices, plus Galaxy flagship tablets. It does not announce support for older Galaxy generations or non-flagship tablets.
What has not been announced
- A public launch date or rollout schedule
- Consumer availability outside enterprise deployments
- Pricing, licensing or minimum contract terms
- Detection accuracy, latency, false-positive or false-negative rates
- A list of participating Singapore organisations
- Whether the final service will work offline, in calls from third-party apps, or across every KYC platform
Those omissions matter because deepfake detection is probabilistic. An alert can support a verification workflow, but it should not by itself be treated as proof that a person or recording is genuine. Organisations considering the proposal would need testing against their own languages, accents, compression formats, cameras, microphones and fraud scenarios.
Reality Defender’s relationship with Samsung
Samsung’s announcement follows Reality Defender’s 3 April 2025 release about strategic investments from Samsung Next, BNY and Fusion Fund. Reality Defender said it serves enterprise, government and institutional clients; the investment terms were not disclosed. The earlier investment does not itself confirm a Galaxy product or a consumer service.
What enterprises should watch next
- Deployment details: Look for confirmation of which Galaxy models, tablet models and software versions are supported.
- Workflow integration: Check whether alerts can be used in live calls, KYC, onboarding and image-review systems without forcing sensitive media into an external cloud.
- Security boundaries: Ask how Knox Vault and KEEP isolate models, credentials, temporary files and administrator data.
- Evidence quality: Require independently published results covering accuracy, false alarms, latency and performance on local languages and real-world compression.
- Governance: Define who reviews an alert, how a customer is challenged or re-verified, and how logs are retained under Singapore privacy and sector rules.
Samsung director Timothy Tan said the goal is to flag potential threats “before data needs to be processed in the cloud.” Reality Defender chief executive Ben Colman framed the wider objective as verifying what is real in real time. Those statements describe the intended direction; the practical value will depend on the final deployment, testing and operating rules.
