The 36% discount on the Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 240Hz monitor was a Prime Day promotion reported by WIRED on June 26, 2026. It is not a standing price. On October 9, 2026, Samsung’s US product page for the same monitor showed $599.99, with delivery and in-store pickup both unavailable. If you are looking for the deal, treat the 36% figure as history and check the live price before you buy.
Which monitor the deal refers to
The monitor in the headline is the Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 G61SH, model number LS27HG612SNXZA (also listed as S27HG612SN). Samsung describes it as a 27-inch QHD, 240Hz OLED gaming monitor. WIRED’s report gives the same size and a resolution of 2560 × 1440.

The Odyssey OLED G6 name covers several models with different refresh rates, so the model code matters more than the product line name. Samsung’s own US product pages list the following variants:

G61SD is a separate 240Hz model, not an alias for G61SH. A listing that shows only “Odyssey OLED G6 240Hz” may refer to either one, so compare the model code before you compare prices.

What the 36% discount was
WIRED’s deal article, “Samsung’s Excellent OLED Monitors Are Up to 36 Percent Off for Prime Day” by Luke Larsen, was published on June 26, 2026. It says the G61SH sold for $385, which it describes as 36% off a $500 price. WIRED called $385 the lowest price it had seen for the monitor at that time.
Three points limit how far that claim reaches:
- The discount applied during Amazon’s Prime Day sale. It was a time-limited promotion, not an ongoing list price.
- The figure of $500 is the reference price WIRED used. It is not a price Samsung confirmed as a permanent former price.
- The same WIRED article shows a separate Odyssey G6 offer with a $900 reference price. WIRED describes that offer as a 360Hz option, so its prices do not apply to the 240Hz G61SH.
The price Samsung showed in October 2026
When the Samsung US product page for the G61SH was accessed on October 9, 2026, it displayed $599.99. Delivery and in-store pickup were both marked unavailable at that time. That is a single snapshot. It does not show how long the price will last or when stock will return.

- STUNNING VISUALS and BRIGHTER HIGHLIGHTS: Samsung QD-OLED Monitor delivers superior brightness and dynamic contrast, with an expansive spectrum of colors and nearly limitless shades for consistently brilliant imagery
- OUTMANEUVER OPPONENTS w/ SUPREME SPEED: Dodge, counter and engage faster with QD-OLED technology, offering a near-instant 0.03ms response time (GtG); Stay ahead with HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort connections and a 360Hz refresh rate in QHD resolution¹
- IMMERSE IN SMOOTH ACTION WITHOUT DISRUPTION: Support of Variable refresh rate (VRR) with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro keeps the GPU and panel synced up to eliminate choppiness, screen lag, and image tears
- DYNAMIC COOLING SYSTEM: For the first time ever, a Pulsating Heat Pipe was introduced into the monitor to prevent burn-in; The Dynamic Cooling System evaporates and condenses a coolant to diffuse heat 5x better than the older graphite sheet method
- THERMAL MODULATION SYSTEM: Algorithms predict surface temperature and then control the brightness accordingly, to automatically reduce heat²
The gap between $385 and $599.99 is the main reason the headline is misleading if it is read as a current offer. A reader who sees “36% off” today is looking at a price that ended with the June promotion.

- Search for the full model code, LS27HG612SNXZA, not only “Odyssey OLED G6.” Confirm that the listing says 240Hz and 27-inch before you read the price.
- On Samsung’s US product page, open the product details and check the model code shown. Then check the price, delivery option, and in-store pickup option at checkout, because the page may show different results from one day to the next.
- If a retailer lists a lower price, look for a stated end date, a reference price, and a note about whether the offer is limited to a sales event. An offer without a start or end date is harder to verify.
- Compare the total price, including any shipping or bundle terms, rather than the headline figure.
This article did not confirm a live Amazon or other retailer listing for the exact G61SH model code on October 9, 2026. Any retailer offer you find should be checked against the model code above before you act on it.

Where the claim is accurate and where it is not
The following statements are supported by the sources reviewed:
- The G61SH is a 27-inch QHD monitor with a 240Hz refresh rate.
- WIRED reported it at $385, 36% below a $500 reference price, on June 26, 2026, during Prime Day.
- Samsung’s US page showed $599.99 on October 9, 2026, with delivery and pickup unavailable.
The following statements are not supported: that the monitor is 36% off now, that $385 is its current price, or that the G61SH is the 360Hz model that WIRED mentions in the separate offer. The sources reviewed do not contain a performance comparison between the G61SH and the other G6 models, so this article does not rank them.

What to do if you want this monitor
If you want a 240Hz, 27-inch QHD OLED monitor in this line, the G61SH is the model to research. Check Samsung’s US product page and any retailer listing using the model code. Set a price alert or wait for the next sale if the current price is above your budget, and do not assume a past discount will return on the same date or at the same level.
If you are comparing with the G61SD or the 360Hz and 500Hz G6 models, use the same method: match the model code, the refresh rate, the total price, and the stock status before comparing.
The June 2026 offer was real, but it is no longer the price on Samsung’s US page. Treat the $385 figure as a reference point for past pricing and verify the price shown at the time you buy.
