On most Samsung Galaxy phones, the built-in file manager is called My Files. Open the apps screen and look in the Samsung folder. If it is not there, search your apps for My Files.
How to find My Files
- Check the Samsung folder: Swipe up from the Home screen to open the apps screen, tap Samsung, then tap My Files.
- Search your apps: If you do not see the folder or the app, use the apps-screen search and enter My Files.
Samsung says My Files is preinstalled on most Galaxy devices, but the app’s placement and screen appearance can vary by model and market. These are general routes, not a guarantee that every phone has the same layout. Samsung’s UK instructions describe the folder and search methods.

Where to find a downloaded file
Open My Files > Downloads to check for files downloaded to your phone. If you know the filename, tap the Search icon in My Files and enter it. Files can also be browsed by category and storage location, so check other relevant sections if the item is not in Downloads. The app that downloaded a file can affect where it is stored. Samsung’s downloaded-files guidance covers these routes.
Camera photos and videos
Samsung gives this location for camera media: My Files > Internal storage or SD card > DCIM > Camera. The SD-card route applies only when the device has a supported card and one is in use. Samsung’s My Files guide describes browsing by storage location.

When a download does not appear
- Search My Files by filename, then check other categories or storage locations.
- Some streaming-app downloads are protected and can only be accessed within the app that downloaded them.
- If images from a Google app are missing, Samsung notes that the relevant storage permissions may need to be enabled.
What you can do in My Files
My Files lets you browse files by category or storage location. Samsung’s guidance also explains how to create folders under Internal storage and how to move selected files or folders. The exact options and external-storage support depend on the device.
To organize items, select the file or folder and choose Move; use the destination shown in the app. For compatible devices, Samsung documents moving or copying items to external storage. SD-card support varies by model, and USB or SD storage through an OTG connection is also conditional on device support. See Samsung’s file-organization instructions for the documented steps.

If My Files is missing
First search the apps screen for My Files, rather than relying only on the Samsung folder. If it still does not appear, the general Samsung guidance may not match your handset’s software or regional layout. Samsung notes that screens and settings can differ across markets; its Caribbean support guide provides the same general discovery routes. For model-specific directions, use support information for your exact Galaxy model and software version.
