Choose Bluetooth or Wi-Fi for your Music Frame
| Connection | Best for | What you need | Important limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bluetooth | Pairing directly with a phone or a TV | Put the Music Frame in pairing mode and select it in the source device’s Bluetooth settings. | Samsung says only one Samsung TV can be connected at a time. Enter PIN 0000 if prompted. |
| Wi-Fi | Connecting through SmartThings or using the Music Frame with a TV over Wi-Fi | Register the speaker in SmartThings and put it and the phone or TV on the same Wi-Fi network. | Wi-Fi TV audio is supported only with Samsung TVs. The Music Frame does not support Wi-Fi 6. |
These connection options and limits are documented for the Music Frame, not necessarily every Samsung wireless speaker. See Samsung’s Music Frame connection guide for the model-specific instructions.

How to add a Music Frame in SmartThings
- Open the SmartThings app and select Devices.
- Select Add, then select Add under Samsung devices.
- Choose Speaker, then select the Music Frame.
- Follow the prompts in the app. You can also use the app’s QR-code or nearby-device scanning options.
SmartThings is required for the Music Frame’s Wi-Fi connection workflow. Samsung’s separate Music Frame setup guide also covers initial setup.

For a Music Frame, press and hold the Mic On/Off button for five seconds to enter Bluetooth pairing mode. On the phone, open Bluetooth settings, scan for devices if needed, and select Music Frame. If it is the first pairing, Samsung Australia recommends keeping the phone and speaker about 1 meter (3.28 feet) apart.

Wi-Fi: select the Music Frame on a Samsung TV
First add the Music Frame in SmartThings and make sure the TV and speaker are on the same Wi-Fi network. On the TV, open Settings > All Settings > Sound > Sound Output and select Music Frame (Wi-Fi). Samsung documents this Wi-Fi TV connection for Samsung TVs only; it does not establish Wi-Fi audio support for TVs from other brands. The Music Frame also does not support Wi-Fi 6.
Music Frame and Q-Symphony compatibility
Samsung Australia’s guide says Music Frame Q-Symphony compatibility is available on TVs released after 2024; it says 2023 TVs will become compatible after a software update. For a Q-Symphony setup using both a Music Frame and a soundbar, Samsung specifies a 2024 soundbar, and its described setup supports up to two Music Frames. Confirm compatibility for your TV, soundbar and software version in Samsung’s Australia Music Frame guide before setting up a multi-speaker system.

Why SmartThings may not find a Samsung speaker
Samsung’s troubleshooting steps apply to soundbars, Wi-Fi speakers and the Music Frame that will not register in SmartThings or Samsung Sound. Try them in order:
- Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the phone.
- Unplug the speaker or soundbar for 30 seconds, reconnect its power, and try registration again.
- Remove an existing Bluetooth pairing from the phone: use Unpair on Android or Forget This Device on iOS. Then retry registration.
- If the device still will not register, check Samsung’s current app guidance for your product and try the model-specific reset only if appropriate.
Samsung’s registration troubleshooting page says Samsung Sound supports 2026 products and the HW-LS60D Music Frame, while support for older 2023–2025 soundbar models is planned for future updates. App support can change, so check Samsung’s current guidance for the product you own.

Reset a Music Frame only as a last step
A factory reset clears the Music Frame’s settings, so try the registration checks first. If a reset is necessary, turn on the Music Frame and press both volume buttons for at least five seconds. Samsung says the LEDs blink cyan three times and then red three times when the reset occurs. Use the procedure only for a Music Frame; other models may reset differently.
