Samsung launched the Bespoke AI Water Purifier Countertop in South Korea on August 18, 2025. The countertop unit combines four-stage filtration, measured hot- and cold-water dispensing, automatic pipe-hygiene routines, SmartThings monitoring and Bixby voice control. Samsung announced a launch price of ₩1.45 million. No U.S. release was confirmed in the launch coverage, so the often-quoted “$1,000 purifier” is only an approximate currency conversion—not U.S. pricing.
What Samsung launched
This is a countertop drinking-water purifier, not a refrigerator dispenser, whole-house filtration system or Samsung refrigerator filter accessory. Samsung describes a compact design approximately 17 centimeters wide, intended to fit on a kitchen counter without major construction work. That does not necessarily mean plug-and-play: the Korean model’s water inlet, drainage, pressure, electrical and clearance requirements must be checked in its manual before installation.

How the filtration system works
Samsung specifies a four-stage filtration system. Launch coverage reports filtration down to approximately 0.08 micrometers, while Samsung says the system can remove 82 types of harmful substances. Reported examples include microplastics, lead, mercury, chromium and microcystin. Samsung-linked coverage also refers to NSF certification.

Those figures need to be read as product claims tied to particular certification and test conditions—not a guarantee that the appliance removes every contaminant from every water supply. The available launch material does not provide the complete contaminant list, the full certification document, or enough detail to establish whether every claim applies to every filter configuration. Performance can also depend on inlet-water quality, pressure, temperature and filter age.
Anyone with a private well, old building plumbing or a known contamination problem should test the water and match the results against the purifier’s complete certified performance data before buying. A four-stage filter may address some contaminants well while being unsuitable for others, such as certain dissolved minerals, nitrates, fluoride, hardness or PFAS, unless those reductions are specifically documented.
Where the “AI” features fit
The AI branding mainly describes connected convenience rather than a new form of autonomous water treatment. The filtration and sanitation hardware perform the treatment; SmartThings, Bixby and software manage interaction, recipes and maintenance information.

Smart functions may require a Samsung account, Wi-Fi, smartphone setup and compatible regional services. There is no evidence that AI diagnoses water chemistry, independently chooses a treatment method or improves contaminant removal.

Dispensing and heating: useful, but not fully specified
The reported 50 ml-to-1 liter range and 90°C maximum describe selectable settings reported from Samsung material; they are not independent measurements of flow rate or outlet temperature. The launch sources do not establish heating speed, energy consumption, reservoir capacity, noise, or whether heating is instantaneous or reservoir-based.

Hot-water capability also creates practical questions the product manual must answer: child lockout, safe dispensing clearance, whether voice commands can be disabled, and how hot-water use affects filter life. A 90°C setting should be treated as a burn hazard even though it is below boiling.

The purifier uses stainless-steel direct-water piping. Reported maintenance aids include:

Automatic sterilization and drainage are maintenance aids, not a maintenance-free operating mode. Owners still need to clean removable parts, replace filters on schedule and follow the manual.

Coverage from Maeil Business and Asia Business Daily reported the Korean launch and price. Tom’s Guide and Notebookcheck also treated international availability as unconfirmed. A Korean unit may have Korean-market app support, local voltage and plug requirements, region-specific filters, and warranty limitations. Importing one without confirming those details is a substantial ownership risk.
Who should consider it
- Samsung SmartThings households that value app monitoring and voice control.
- Apartment or rental residents who cannot install an under-sink system, provided the required water connection is practical.
- Users who regularly need measured hot water for noodles, tea or recipes.
- Buyers who value compact design and automated hygiene routines enough to pay a premium.
Who should skip it
- Price-sensitive buyers seeking only basic drinking-water filtration.
- Households needing whole-home treatment or high daily volume.
- Private-well users who have not tested their water and matched contaminants to certified reductions.
- People who do not want a Samsung account, Wi-Fi, Bixby or app dependence.
- Buyers outside South Korea who require local warranty, service and consumable availability.
A simple pitcher or gravity filter generally costs less and has fewer dependencies. An under-sink certified system hides hardware and may offer greater capacity but requires installation. A countertop reverse-osmosis system may be more appropriate for some dissolved contaminants, although it is typically larger and can waste water. Hot/cold dispensers may offer stronger local service networks without Samsung’s ecosystem features.

The launch announcements do not establish the replacement-filter price, recommended filter interval, electricity use, noise, flow rate, warranty outside South Korea, offline operation, exact plumbing requirements or the optional brewer kit’s price. Before purchase, verify:
- The exact filter SKU and complete certified performance data sheet.
- Replacement cost, replacement interval and consumable availability.
- Inlet, drain, pressure, voltage, plug and clearance requirements.
- Whether basic dispensing works without Wi-Fi and which features require internet access.
- Local warranty, repair coverage and SmartThings regional compatibility.
Verdict
The Bespoke AI Water Purifier Countertop is a premium connected countertop purifier whose strongest differentiators are its compact format, measured hot-water dispensing, automated hygiene routines and Samsung ecosystem integration. “AI” does not mean AI-powered contaminant removal, and ₩1.45 million is a South Korean launch price rather than confirmed U.S. pricing. It is most compelling for Samsung households that value convenience and design; buyers focused solely on affordable or specialized filtration should compare certified alternatives first.
