What the Samsung HW-QS90H is
The QS90H is Samsung’s 2026 Q-Series, 7.1.2-channel all-in-one soundbar. Samsung specifies 13 speakers: four built-in woofers and nine wide-range drivers, arranged to deliver front-, side-, wide- and up-firing sound from one bar. The configuration aims to create a spacious presentation without a separate subwoofer or rear-speaker units; it is not the same hardware arrangement as a system with discrete rear channels.

Samsung’s product page describes support for Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Q-Symphony and Eclipsa Audio. Those format and ecosystem features are subject to compatible content, devices and regional availability. Samsung’s Canadian product page is the source for the manufacturer’s specifications; check the local model’s specifications before buying because regional versions and features can vary.
How Convertible Fit works
Convertible Fit is the QS90H’s defining design feature. The bar can sit flat on furniture or be rotated for wall mounting. An internal gyro sensor detects its orientation and changes speaker roles to suit the position. Samsung says this optimizes the sound for either placement, and Expert Reviews found the feature worked as intended in its test.

That flexibility makes the bar easier to place than a system requiring several separate speakers, but it cannot make every room acoustically identical. Wall material, furniture, room shape and listening position still affect what you hear. Check the dimensions and mounting requirements for your region before choosing a location.
How it sounds for films and TV
Expert Reviews found movies and television to be the QS90H’s strongest use. With Dolby Atmos material, the sound was broad and engaging, with convincing spatial effects for a single-bar system. Standard, Surround and AI Adaptive modes provide different presentations, and the Samsung app offers EQ and channel adjustments for further tailoring.

The key qualification is that the sound comes from drivers in the bar rather than dedicated rear speakers. The review found the QS90H could produce convincing surround effects without extra boxes, while also noting that the lack of discrete rear channels remains audible as a distinction. Buyers seeking effects physically placed behind them should consider a system with dedicated rear speakers.

Dialogue and listening modes
In the reviewer’s listening, dialogue could sometimes seem detached from the picture in busy scenes using AI Adaptive mode. Adjusting the centre channel or enabling Voice Enhancement helped in those cases. These are reviewer observations, not guaranteed results: room acoustics, content mixing and personal preference can change the outcome.

Gaming and connections
The most important connection limit is HDMI passthrough: Expert Reviews and RTINGS report a maximum of 4K/60Hz. If a console or gaming PC needs to pass a 4K/120Hz signal through the soundbar, this is a material drawback. Connect a high-refresh source directly to a compatible TV instead, then send audio to the bar over eARC if the television and source support the formats you need.
Expert Reviews found Game Pro mode less effective for locating opponents than it wanted, and somewhat bright or harsh compared with other modes. That makes the QS90H less compelling as a gaming-first purchase than as a film-and-TV bar.

The Expert Reviews test reports one HDMI input, one HDMI eARC port, an optical input, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, along with Chromecast and AirPlay 2. It also reports an included remote and control through Samsung’s Sound/SmartThings app. What Hi-Fi? lists Bluetooth 5.3 and the same central physical HDMI connections. Check the specification for your regional model before relying on any particular port or wireless feature.

The review found music less convincing than the QS90H’s movie presentation. That does not mean it cannot play music; it means buyers who prioritize musical refinement should listen for themselves and compare dedicated music-focused options. The lack of a digital display is another practical drawback: the reviewer noted it as a criticism, so status and setting feedback rely more on the remote, app and other indicators than on a front-panel readout.

Price and alternatives
Expert Reviews listed the QS90H at £799 in its UK review published 24 September 2026. That is a dated review price, not a guaranteed current offer. In the same article, its comparison prices were:

These figures show the QS90H was cheaper than those products at the time and in that UK review; prices and availability change by retailer, date and region. The useful comparison is not price alone. A one-piece bar saves space and setup effort, while a package with dedicated subwoofer and rear speakers can offer deeper bass and more distinct surround placement.
RTINGS reports that the QS90H can be expanded with two wireless satellite speakers, though its expansion options are more limited than some alternatives and this route does not add a separate subwoofer. Verify the exact satellite model and compatibility in your region before purchasing accessories.

Samsung TV features and compatibility
Samsung says Wireless Dolby Atmos works over Wi-Fi with Samsung TVs from 2022 through 2026 and requires Dolby Atmos source content. Q-Symphony is limited to supported Samsung TV models and generations; some AI features also require compatible TV hardware. Samsung cautions that availability and features can vary by region, service provider, language and device. These should be treated as conditional ecosystem features, not universal functions available with every television.
Who should buy the QS90H?
- Consider it if you want one integrated bar, flexible tabletop or wall placement, and a strong film-and-TV presentation without separate bass and rear-speaker units.
- Compare other systems if your priority is 4K/120Hz passthrough, discrete rear effects, the deepest bass, or especially refined music playback.
- Check before ordering if you depend on Samsung-specific wireless features, Q-Symphony, or satellite expansion; confirm local compatibility and exact model details.
