On most Samsung Galaxy phones, change the hotspot password in Settings > Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering > Mobile Hotspot. Open Configure, Information, or the section showing the network name and password, then edit Password and save if prompted. Samsung’s screens vary by model, software version, and region, so the control may have a different label.
Change the password for your Samsung mobile hotspot
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap Mobile Hotspot and Tethering.
- Tap Mobile Hotspot.
- Find Configure, Information, or the section displaying the hotspot’s network name and password. Samsung’s regional instructions use different labels for this control.
- Tap Password, enter the new password, and save or confirm if prompted.
- Reconnect your other devices using the updated password.
Samsung’s Gulf support guide gives the Configure route; its US Galaxy hotspot guide describes changing the password in the Information section. If neither label appears, look for the network name or password controls within the Mobile Hotspot screen. The available settings and layout can differ by model and software version.

Find or share the current hotspot password
In the same Mobile Hotspot settings area, open Configure, Information, or the network details section to view the password. A device joining the hotspot needs the current credential; after you change it, update the saved Wi-Fi password on each client device when it reconnects.

Use a one-time password if your phone offers it
Some Galaxy phones include a One-time password option. When enabled, the phone displays a unique password; turning the hotspot off and back on generates another one. This option is not available on every model or software version. See Samsung India’s One-time password instructions for the feature.

If a device cannot connect or see the hotspot
It rejects the password or will not join
Check that the device is using the new password rather than an older saved one. If the client is older and does not support WPA3, Samsung says WPA2 may be needed for compatibility, if that option is available on your phone. Prefer the more compatible setting only when necessary; see Samsung’s hotspot connection troubleshooting.
The hotspot does not appear in the Wi-Fi list
Check whether the hotspot network is set to hidden. If it is visible but a client still cannot find it, review the available band setting: Samsung identifies 2.4 GHz as a compatibility option for more devices, while 5 GHz can offer better performance for supported clients. Options vary by phone. Samsung’s visibility troubleshooting covers these checks.

The hotspot menu is missing or service will not start
Hotspot availability can depend on the phone, software, and carrier. Some plans require tethering service, so check with your carrier if the menu is unavailable or the connection fails. Using Mobile Hotspot also draws battery power and uses mobile data; your carrier account determines any applicable limits or charges. Samsung explains these considerations in its Singapore configuration guide.
If the phone rejects your new password
Follow the requirements shown on the phone’s password screen. There is no single password length or character rule established for all Galaxy models, so do not assume a rule from another device applies to yours.
