Samsung Gallery no longer syncs directly with OneDrive: Microsoft ended the integration after September 30, 2026. Existing files in OneDrive remain available there, but they no longer appear in Samsung Gallery through the integration. To upload new photos and videos, turn on Camera backup in the OneDrive Android app.
What happened to Samsung Gallery and OneDrive sync?
Microsoft says that starting September 30, 2026, Samsung Gallery would no longer sync directly with OneDrive. New users can no longer link the apps, and existing users should not expect the old integration to continue. The change affects the direct connection, not the files already stored in OneDrive: those files remain accessible in the OneDrive app and at onedrive.com. They are no longer displayed in Samsung Gallery through that integration.

The former Gallery integration was available only on some devices, carriers, and markets. It supported personal OneDrive accounts, not work or school accounts. Samsung’s settings and menu names may also vary by carrier and software version.
How to back up new photos and videos with OneDrive
- Open the OneDrive app on your Samsung phone.
- Tap your account profile image.
- Choose Camera backup and turn it on. The exact label or screen may vary.
- Confirm that the correct Microsoft account is selected. Camera backup works with one account at a time.
- When Android asks, allow OneDrive access to your photos and videos. Microsoft says this permission is needed for continuous background backup.
Camera backup uploads photos and videos to OneDrive; it is not a two-way sync. Deleting a backed-up item from your phone does not delete its OneDrive copy. This differs from the old Gallery integration, where changes and deletions could propagate between Gallery and OneDrive. Check which copy you are deleting before cleaning up either location.

Include folders beyond the camera roll
Camera backup may not include every image folder by default. To choose additional folders, open OneDrive settings, go to Camera backup, then select Back up device folders. This is useful for screenshots or images saved by social and editing apps.
If uploads do not appear
- Make sure Camera backup is on and the intended Microsoft account is selected.
- Confirm OneDrive has permission to access photos and videos.
- Check that the account has available storage quota.
- Check your internet connection and allow the app to run in the background.

How to see OneDrive photos in Samsung Gallery again
If you want cloud-stored originals to appear in Gallery, download them to the phone. Samsung advised using Gallery’s Download Originals function before discontinuation; it also describes downloading individual items or albums through Gallery settings. Downloaded files use device storage, so the amount you can restore depends on available space. Files you do not download remain accessible in OneDrive.
