The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 and iQOO 16 are both 2026 flagship phones, but they are built for different kinds of use: the Fold8 opens into a larger inner display, while the iQOO 16 is a conventional slab phone with a 2K, 165Hz screen and a larger listed battery. Their published starting prices come from different markets, so there is no reliable like-for-like price difference without local pricing for both.

Which phone suits your screen and daily use?
Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 for an unfolding workspace
The Fold8’s 5.5-inch outer display is the screen you use when the phone is closed; its 7.6-inch inner display gives you a larger area when you open it. That format can make sense if you want a phone that can expand for reading, media or work across a broader screen. It also means the comparison is not simply about which single display is bigger: the iQOO 16 has one 6.85-inch conventional screen, while Samsung offers two screen sizes in a foldable design.

Choose the iQOO 16 if you prefer a conventional high-refresh-rate display
The iQOO 16’s listed 2K resolution and 165Hz refresh rate are relevant if you want a single, large slab-style screen and value a high specified refresh rate. Samsung emphasizes the Fold8’s foldable, wide-format inner screen instead. These specifications describe different strengths; without direct testing, they do not establish which display looks better.
Performance and gaming: what the chip names do—and do not—show
Samsung lists Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. iQOO lists Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Supreme Edition alongside a Q4 gaming chip. Those are the published hardware names, not a performance ranking: no comparable benchmark results are established here. If your decision depends on sustained gaming performance, thermals or frame rates in particular games, these specifications alone cannot settle it.

Battery and charging: compare the claims carefully
The iQOO 16 has the larger listed capacity at 8,400mAh and supports 100W wired charging, according to its China-market launch announcement. Samsung lists 4,800mAh for the Fold8 and says it can provide up to 26 hours of video playback. Capacity, charging wattage and a manufacturer-stated playback figure are different measures, so they do not prove which phone lasts longer in everyday use. No comparable runtime test is available here.
Camera hardware: focal coverage matters more than matching megapixels
Both phones list 50MP main or wide cameras, but the secondary cameras serve different purposes. Samsung pairs its wide camera with a 50MP ultrawide; iQOO pairs its 50MP main camera with a 50MP periscope telephoto camera and specifies a 1/1.3-inch main sensor. The published hardware suggests different coverage—wider scenes on Samsung’s secondary camera versus telephoto reach on iQOO’s—but megapixel counts and lens labels do not establish photo quality. No direct camera test is available for a quality ranking.

Price difference: why these figures are not a direct comparison
Samsung’s US product page lists the Galaxy Z Fold8 from $1,899.99 before trade-in. iQOO’s official China specification page lists suggested retail prices in yuan by configuration. Because those prices are from different markets and currencies, subtracting or converting them would not produce a like-for-like price difference: taxes, local pricing, storage tier, warranty and availability may differ.
| iQOO 16 China configuration | Suggested retail price in China |
|---|---|
| 12GB/256GB | CNY 5,999 |
| 12GB/512GB | CNY 6,799 |
| 16GB/512GB | CNY 7,499 |
| 16GB/1TB | CNY 8,499 |
Those iQOO figures are China-market suggested retail prices, not prices established for the US, India or other markets. The official sources cited here establish no non-China iQOO 16 price or launch schedule. For a meaningful local comparison, check current prices for matching storage tiers, plus seller, warranty and availability, in the country where you plan to buy.

Which one should you buy?
- Pick the Galaxy Z Fold8 if the ability to open a phone into a 7.6-inch inner display is the central reason for your purchase.
- Consider the iQOO 16 if you want a conventional handset and its specified 2K, 165Hz display, gaming hardware, 8,400mAh battery or periscope telephoto camera better fits your priorities.
- Decide on price only after checking your market. The published Samsung starting price is US-based and the iQOO prices are China-based; neither establishes what both cost locally in your region.
