How much more does the iPhone Duo cost?
Apple’s U.S. September 9, 2026 announcement lists iPhone Duo at $1,999 for 256GB. Samsung’s U.S. product page lists Galaxy Z Fold8 from $1,899.99 before trade-in. That makes the listed starting-price difference $99.01, with the iPhone Duo higher. The prices are not a matched-storage comparison: Apple’s starting configuration is specified as 256GB, while Samsung’s page gives a starting price. Which foldable is lighter and easier to carry?
The listed figures favor the Fold8: at 201g and 9.7mm folded, it is 53g lighter and 1.6mm thinner than the iPhone Duo’s reported 254g and 11.3mm. Those numbers suggest a portability advantage on paper, but they do not establish which device feels more comfortable in a hand or pocket.
Are the displays the same size?
Both inner displays measure 7.6 inches diagonally. Their outer screens differ slightly—5.5 inches for the Fold8 and 5.4 inches for iPhone Duo—and Samsung specifies a 4:3 ratio for the Fold8 main screen. Matching diagonal measurements do not mean the usable shapes, app layouts or multitasking experiences are identical. Samsung describes multitasking and Galaxy AI features for its wide screens; Apple describes a foldable iOS 27 experience and Apple Intelligence. These are each company’s product descriptions, not independent comparative findings.

Apple says both Duo displays reach 3,000 nits peak brightness and support up to 120Hz ProMotion. Those stated capabilities do not settle comparative outdoor visibility, crease visibility or display quality in actual use. Apple product specifications; Samsung Newsroom feature description.
Which offers more storage?
Both lineups list 256GB, 512GB and 1TB configurations. Apple also lists a 2TB iPhone Duo, the higher maximum capacity among these two models. Buyers comparing prices should match storage tiers where possible rather than compare the lowest advertised price with a higher-capacity configuration. Samsung; Apple.

How should you compare cameras and battery life?
Camera specifications are not photo tests
Samsung lists dual 50MP wide and ultra-wide rear sensors and up to 10x digital zoom; Apple lists a 48MP Dual Fusion camera system and up to 2x optical-quality zoom. Megapixel counts and zoom labels describe different aspects of the systems and cannot establish which phone takes better photos or video. No controlled side-by-side camera test is established by the cited materials.
Battery figures use different published claims
Samsung lists a 4,800mAh battery and up to 26 hours of video playback. Apple claims up to 31 hours of video playback using the inner display; Apple says its figure is based on testing with preproduction hardware and a representative use profile, including equal use of the inner and outer displays for the typical-use description. The manufacturers’ protocols are not established as identical, so these figures do not provide a controlled head-to-head battery result.

Which one should you choose?
- Prioritize lower listed weight and folded thickness: the Fold8 has the advantage on the reported specifications, though comfort requires trying the devices.
- Need more than 1TB of storage: Apple lists a 2TB iPhone Duo option; Samsung lists the Fold8 up to 1TB.
- Choose by software and ecosystem: consider the operating system, the devices and services you already use, and the apps and multitasking workflows you need. Vendor descriptions of AI features are not independent evidence that one phone’s software is better.
- Care most about photos, durability or sustained performance: seek comparable real-world tests rather than deciding from camera labels, platform names or headline specifications. The cited materials do not establish controlled comparisons for these areas.
- Compare what you will actually pay: price the same storage capacity and account for promotions, trade-in values, taxes and carrier terms.
What remains unverified in a spec-sheet comparison?
9to5Mac’s September 10, 2026 comparison noted that more in-depth comparisons of hinges, displays and crease visibility, sturdiness and performance were still pending around the iPhone Duo launch. The cited sources do not establish a controlled head-to-head test of camera output, battery life or performance, or a real-world durability verdict. Specifications can narrow the choice, but they cannot settle those questions.
