They suit different needs: Samsung’s foldable opens into an 8-inch-class workspace and has a three-camera rear system, while vivo’s conventional curved-screen phone has a much larger listed battery capacity and a far lower India price snapshot. At the 91mobiles snapshot accessed in 2026, the displayed prices differed by ₹155,009—but Samsung was marked out of stock, so this is not a current guaranteed offer or a universal price comparison.
At a glance: two different kinds of phone
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is a foldable built around a large inner display. The vivo S2, called “vivo S2 5G” on the comparison page, is a conventional smartphone with a curved display. The choice is less about which specification sheet wins overall and more about whether you will use a tablet-like screen enough to justify the foldable’s higher price snapshot.

Display and design: foldable workspace or curved-screen phone?
Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra
Samsung Korea lists a 203.1 mm inner display with 2504 × 2256 resolution and a 164.8 mm cover display. Unfolded, its 158.4 × 143.2 mm footprint provides a broad screen for reading, multitasking and media; folded, it measures 158.4 × 72.8 mm. Those dimensions capture the key trade-off: the larger workspace comes in a device that is thicker and heavier than a typical phone when closed.

vivo S2
vivo India lists a 17.35 cm 1.5K curved AMOLED/POLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It gives you one conventional phone display rather than a separate inner screen and cover screen. If your priority is a familiar single-screen handset, the vivo’s form factor is the simpler fit; if you expect to use the expanded screen regularly, Samsung offers a capability the vivo does not.
Performance and storage
vivo India identifies the S2 processor as the MediaTek Dimensity 7360-Turbo, an octa-core 4 nm chip. Samsung Korea’s specification page lists an octa-core processor and CPU speed up to 4.74 GHz; the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy name appears in 91mobiles’ secondary comparison, not the cited Samsung spec page.

Samsung’s Korea variants pair 12 GB RAM with 256 GB or 512 GB storage, or 16 GB RAM with 1 TB storage. The comparison lists the vivo S2 5G as 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. Because that configuration comes from a secondary comparison rather than the vivo India feature page, verify the exact S2 SKU and memory configuration offered in your market.

The specifications suggest different camera options, not a proven image-quality winner. Megapixel counts alone do not establish detail, low-light performance, color, video quality or autofocus results, and the cited sources do not provide comparable camera tests for these two phones.
Battery capacity and reported runtime
Samsung lists a typical 5,000 mAh battery for the Fold8 Ultra; vivo India lists 7050 mAh for the S2. Capacity is not a runtime test, and differences in display size, hardware and use affect how long a phone lasts between charges.

Samsung Mobile Press announced on 6 August 2026 that sales began on 7 August in select markets, with a wider global rollout planned. That announcement does not establish current stock or identical availability in every country. The detailed Samsung specifications cited here are from its Korea page, while vivo’s product details are from its India page; local configurations, network bands, offers and availability can differ.
Quick Recap
Which phone makes more sense for you?
Choose the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra if
- You will regularly use the large inner screen for reading, media, multitasking or other work that benefits from more display area.
- You want the listed three-camera rear configuration, including Samsung’s stated 3× optical zoom.
- You are willing to pay substantially more than the vivo price shown in the cited India snapshot, subject to checking current local stock and price.
Consider the vivo S2 if
- You prefer a conventional curved-screen phone over a foldable with two displays.
- You value its listed 7050 mAh battery capacity, while recognizing that capacity alone does not guarantee longer runtime.
- The much lower ₹39,990 India snapshot is relevant to your budget and the exact variant is available from a seller you trust.
Check these details before buying
- Confirm the exact model name and model number. “vivo S2” is the name on vivo India’s page, while “vivo S2 5G” is the comparison publisher’s label.
- Check the RAM and storage variant, especially for vivo, and confirm that it matches the listing you are considering.
- Verify that the phone is intended for your country and supports your carrier’s network bands.
- Check current stock, seller, warranty, final price and any offer terms directly with the retailer; a comparison-page snapshot may be stale.
