The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Google Pixel 11 Pro XL are built for different kinds of buyers: Samsung’s phone unfolds into an 8-inch display, while Google’s is a conventional 6.8-inch slab. In the United States, Samsung’s observed 256GB sale listing was $1,849.99, compared with Google’s announced $1,299 starting price—a $550.99 gap, but not a like-for-like live-price comparison.

Which phone’s design fits your priorities?
Choose the Fold8 Ultra for an unfolding workspace
The Fold8 Ultra’s 8-inch main display is the defining difference. It is the option to consider if you want a phone that opens into a larger viewing and multitasking area. Samsung describes it as a larger workspace, but the specification alone does not establish how much it improves productivity in practice. Its stated 4.1mm thickness applies when unfolded; it weighs 215g.

Choose the Pixel 11 Pro XL for a conventional large-screen phone
The Pixel is a single-screen phone with a 6.8-inch display. Google lists dimensions of approximately 6.4 × 3 × 0.3 inches and a weight of 8 ounces. It avoids the foldable format in favor of a conventional slab, so the choice comes down in part to whether you want a device that opens into a larger display or prefer one continuous screen.
How do the camera systems compare?
Samsung lists a 200MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera. Google lists three rear cameras: a 50MP wide, a 48MP ultrawide with Macro Focus, and a 48MP 5x telephoto. The Pixel’s listed telephoto gives it a specified long-reach camera that is not included in Samsung’s cited rear-camera summary; Samsung lists a much higher main-camera megapixel count.

Google specifies a 5,115mAh typical battery. It says the Pixel 11 Pro XL can reach up to 75% charge in about 30 minutes when used with a 45W USB-C PPS charger or higher, sold separately. Google also lists Qi2.2 wireless charging up to 25W. These are manufacturer charging claims, not results from a shared test; the cited specifications do not establish which phone lasts longer between charges.
Updates and long-term support
Google states that the Pixel 11 Pro XL will receive seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates. The cited Samsung launch source does not establish a directly comparable update-support duration for the Fold8 Ultra, so the available figures do not support a like-for-like support-period comparison.
Which one should you buy?
- Consider the Fold8 Ultra if an 8-inch unfolded screen and foldable multitasking matter enough to justify its higher cited price.
- Consider the Pixel 11 Pro XL if you want a conventional slab, value its listed 5x telephoto and Qi2.2 charging, or prioritize Google’s stated seven-year update period.
- Check the final price first if budget is decisive: the cited $550.99 gap compares a Samsung sale listing with Google’s announced starting price, not matched current checkout totals.
Samsung reported that pre-orders for its new Galaxy Z series increased by more than 30% versus the prior generation in its August 6, 2026 announcement. That is Samsung’s own sales claim, not an independently audited market statistic, and it does not establish which of these two phones is the better purchase.
