The Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy S26 Ultra are two different kinds of flagship. The Fold7 opens to an 8.0-inch inner display and also has a 6.5-inch cover screen. The S26 Ultra is a conventional slab with one 6.9-inch display. On Samsung’s US site on 2026-10-05, the 256GB Fold7 was $1,999.99 and the 256GB S26 Ultra was $1,099.99. That is a $900 gap, but the S26 Ultra price was a promotion, with $1,299.99 crossed out on the same page.

Which has the bigger screen?
Unfolded, the Fold7’s 8.0-inch inner display is larger than the S26 Ultra’s 6.9-inch panel, so it is the one that works like a small tablet. Closed, the Fold7’s 6.5-inch cover screen is smaller than the S26 Ultra’s display. Samsung measures the S26 Ultra’s 6.9 inches as a full rectangle. It lists 6.7 inches once the rounded corners are accounted for.

#1 Best Overall
- BIGGER, YET SLIMMER THAN EVER: Who would’ve guessed that wider could also be lighter? The design of Galaxy Z Fold7 is refined to feel like a traditional smartphone with its expanded cover display.
- BEST CAMERA ON A FOLD YET: You asked for more – now you can have the most. Galaxy Z Fold7 now boasts an ultra-premium 200MP camera with Pro-Visual Engine so you can effortlessly take incredibly detailed pics.
- SCREENSHARE FOR STREAMLINED ASSISTANCE: Intrigued by something you see? Go Live with Google Gemini, then screenshare or point your camera at it for additional info or assistance on the fly.¹
- DO AND VIEW MORE, ALL AT ONCE: With an 8” screen that allows you to view up to three windows at once, Galaxy Z Fold7 is the ultimate device for seeing and doing more.²
- ALL THE POWER AND SPEED YOU NEED Smoothly run your day with the power and speed of Galaxy Z Fold7. With its customized Snapdragon 8 Elite processor for Galaxy, you can stream your favorite shows, edit photos, scroll social feeds and more with ease.³
The real question is how you use the screen. If you split apps side by side, read documents, or want a larger canvas, the Fold7’s inner display is the point of the phone. If you mostly use one app at a time and want a single, uninterrupted display, the S26 Ultra’s slab suits you better.
Which camera is better?
Spec sheets can’t settle that. No independent image-quality testing is cited here, and megapixel counts don’t decide how photos look. What the specs do show is a difference in hardware.

- A premium foldable smartphone featuring an 8.0" Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, 6.5" cover display, 200MP main camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, 4,400mAh battery, and a slim 215g design.
- Main camera: both list a 200MP wide sensor.
- Ultra-wide: the S26 Ultra lists 50MP against the Fold7’s 12MP.
- Telephoto: the Fold7 has one 10MP camera at 3x optical. The S26 Ultra has a 50MP 5x telephoto and a 10MP 3x telephoto. Samsung describes the 10x zoom as optical-quality, which is not the same as true 10x optical, so don’t read it as a 10x lens.
- Digital reach: Samsung’s Fold7 sheet lists up to 30x Space Zoom. Samsung’s own comparison guide promotes up to 100x on the S26 Ultra. Zoom reach says how far you can push the camera. It doesn’t say how good the result is.
On paper, the S26 Ultra has the more developed ultra-wide and telephoto setup, which matters most if you shoot distant subjects.
Price difference
Samsung’s US pages, checked 2026-10-05, showed:
- Galaxy Z Fold7 256GB: $1,999.99
- Galaxy S26 Ultra 256GB: $1,099.99, with $1,299.99 struck through
The displayed gap is $900. Against the crossed-out S26 Ultra price, it is $700. Because the S26 figure was a sale price, the $900 shouldn’t be treated as a permanent difference. Before buying, check the live price, storage tier, carrier deal, and trade-in terms. Prices outside the US will differ.

S Pen
Samsung’s Fold7 specification sheet says the phone does not support S Pen. This article doesn’t verify S26 Ultra stylus details, so check Samsung’s S26 Ultra page if a stylus matters to you.
Weight and battery
Samsung lists the S26 Ultra at 214g with a 5,000mAh typical battery. Samsung says the typical figure is a lab estimate, that the rated minimum is 4,855mAh, and that real battery life varies. Fold7 weight and battery figures aren’t established here, so a numeric comparison would be a guess. Check Samsung’s Fold7 page.

AI features
Samsung’s S26 announcement frames the series around AI. TM Roh, head of Samsung’s Device eXperience division, said: “We believe AI should be something people can depend on every day, designed to work consistently for everyone and without the need for expertise.” That is Samsung describing its own intent, not evidence of how well the features work.

- Choose the Fold7 if you want a large unfolded screen for multitasking, reading, or media and will pay a premium for the folding design.
- Choose the S26 Ultra if you prefer a standard slab and want the stronger telephoto and ultra-wide hardware on paper. It also cost $900 less at the observed sale price.
Neither choice is backed here by independent tests of camera quality, battery endurance, or durability. Check reviews of both before spending this much.
