Which Galaxy Z Fold settings should you change for better battery life?
Make changes in response to your own usage rather than switching on every restriction. A Fold’s large displays, active apps, brightness, and time spent with the screen on all affect battery use; Samsung recommends checking battery details to identify app activity before applying broad limits.

1. Find the apps using power
Open Settings → Battery → View details to review usage, as described in Samsung’s battery troubleshooting guidance. The exact path can differ by One UI version; if you do not see these labels, search Settings for “Battery” or “battery usage.” Reviewing this list first can help distinguish an app-specific drain from display settings that affect the whole phone.

2. Choose a refresh rate that suits your priorities
Go to Settings → Display → Motion smoothness, if that option is available. Samsung describes Standard as 60 Hz and its battery-conserving option; Adaptive adjusts up to 120 Hz, using higher refresh rates when needed and lower rates in less demanding situations. Choose Standard when conservation matters more than scrolling fluidity, or Adaptive if smoother movement is worth the tradeoff. Some devices offer a High mode that locks the display at 120 Hz and uses more power. Power Saving Mode may force Standard. Options differ across models and software versions; see Samsung’s refresh-rate guidance and additional instructions.

3. Reduce idle screen time and manage brightness
A shorter screen timeout turns the display off sooner when the phone is idle. In Settings → Display → Screen timeout, choose the shortest duration that still works for how you use the phone. Samsung lists 30 seconds as the default and 10 minutes as the maximum on the devices covered by one support page; those values may not match every Fold or One UI release.
Adaptive brightness adjusts the display based on detected ambient light. It is designed to keep brightness comfortable while helping manage power, but it is not a guaranteed saving in every situation. If brightness changes are distracting, turn adaptive brightness off and adjust the level manually rather than treating either choice as universally more efficient. 4. Restrict background activity selectively
Samsung’s Background usage limits distinguish between apps that sleep and apps that deep sleep. Sleeping apps can run when you use them. Deep sleeping apps do not run in the background and work only when opened, so they may delay or prevent notifications, background refresh, or other time-sensitive activity. Put rarely used apps to sleep if that suits you; reserve deep sleep for apps whose background functions you are willing to give up. Avoid deep-sleeping messaging, security, navigation, or other apps that need to act promptly. See Samsung’s sleeping-app instructions.
5. Use Power saving when its restrictions are acceptable
Power saving can reduce performance and limit background activity, with effects depending on which options are enabled. It can be useful when you need to stretch the remaining charge, but it is not necessarily the right always-on setting if you rely on background updates or full performance. Samsung lists Power saving and background limits among the battery controls in its troubleshooting guidance.

How do you make better use of the Galaxy Z Fold’s inner screen?
The inner display can show more information and support side-by-side work, but layouts and compatibility depend on the Fold, One UI version, and app. These features are ways to use the larger screen—not battery-saving measures. Multitasking can keep more content active and increase screen-on time.
Try Multi view for supported apps
Where available, open Settings → Display → Screen layout and zoom → Multi view and choose the layout. Multi view can present supported apps in a two-column arrangement; Samsung’s examples include Settings and Samsung Messages. The compatible-app list and setting availability vary. Samsung describes the option in its foldable phone display guidance.

Use full-screen layouts and app continuity selectively
For compatible apps, go to Settings → Display → Full screen apps, choose an app, then select Full screen. Some apps may not adapt fully to the inner display or preserve their state when you fold the phone.
To choose apps that can continue on the cover display, open Settings → Display → Continue apps on cover screen and select the apps you want. Samsung says App Continuity is supported only by select apps; it does not guarantee that every app will preserve its exact state across folding. Build repeat workflows with Multi window or app pairs
Multi window lets you use supported apps in split-screen or pop-up views. For example, a browser beside notes can help with research, while email beside a calendar can make scheduling easier. Samsung documents ways to open apps from the tray and create app pairs in its foldable phone guidance. The controls and maximum number of simultaneous apps vary by model, and some apps may not support every layout.
Use Flex mode when you want a hands-free position
On supported models, Flex mode can show a control panel when the phone is partly folded. Open Settings → Advanced features → Flex mode panel to enable the panel and select apps for automatic display when folded, if those options appear on your device. Controls and app support vary; Samsung’s Flex mode instructions describe the feature.
Treat Labs as an experiment, not a compatibility guarantee
Settings → Advanced features → Labs may include options such as Multi window for all apps or landscape view for portrait apps. Samsung labels Labs features experimental: they may not work as expected, may be unavailable on some foldables, and may not work with every app. Enable an option only if you are comfortable with possible layout problems, and turn it off if an app becomes difficult to use.
