Those are Samsung specifications and commitments, not independent test results. Samsung advertises up to 31 hours of video playback, but everyday endurance, hinge longevity, drop resistance and camera quality versus competing phones still depend on usage and testing conditions. Here is what each claim means in practice.

Is the battery on Galaxy Z Flip7 better than before?
Samsung lists a 4,300 mAh typical battery and describes it as the largest battery in the Galaxy Z Flip line. The capacity figure comes from Samsung Electronics America in 2025. Samsung’s footnote says typical capacity was established under third-party laboratory conditions and that the rated minimum capacity is lower; the typical number should therefore be used for comparing the specification, not as a promise that every unit stores exactly 4,300 mAh.
What does “up to 31 hours” mean?
Samsung advertises up to 31 hours of video playback. This is a manufacturer playback estimate, measured under Samsung’s conditions, rather than an independent endurance test. Continuous local video playback is a narrower workload than a day of cellular data, photography, navigation, gaming, messaging and background synchronization. Screen brightness, refresh behavior, reception, temperature, app activity and wireless connections can all change the result.
No independent, controlled battery test was identified for this phone in the evidence available here. It is therefore not possible to give a defensible real-world hours figure or to state that the Flip7 lasts longer than a particular rival. Treat the 31-hour number as an upper-bound laboratory-style claim and judge your own usage after a few charging cycles.
How to get more useful battery life
- Use Adaptive brightness and review which apps are allowed unrestricted background activity.
- Download long videos or music when practical instead of streaming over weak cellular signals.
- Check battery usage after a normal day; an unexpectedly high app, modem or display entry is more actionable than a generic battery estimate.
- Keep the phone out of extreme heat while charging or recording video, since heat can reduce charging speed and accelerate battery wear.
- Use the cover screen for quick checks when opening the phone is unnecessary; fewer full-display sessions can reduce display-on time.
Charging, wireless power and accessories
The US specification sheet lists 25W Super Fast Charging, Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and Wireless PowerShare. Samsung says the 25W charger and wireless charger are sold separately and recommends Samsung-approved chargers and cables. A compatible cable and a charger capable of the required USB power profile are necessary to reach the advertised wired mode; an arbitrary low-power adapter will charge more slowly.

Wireless PowerShare requirements
Wireless PowerShare requires at least 30% battery according to Samsung’s specification sheet. The feature may not work correctly with some cases or accessories, and the device being charged must support compatible wireless charging. Remove thick, magnetic or metallic accessories if charging repeatedly stops, and verify compatibility for the particular accessory rather than assuming every case will work.

Charging speeds vary with temperature, battery level, cable, adapter and simultaneous use. Samsung’s 25W figure identifies the charging standard, not a guaranteed time from empty to full.
How durable is Galaxy Z Flip7?
Materials and the IP48 rating
Samsung identifies an Armor Aluminum frame and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front and back. It rates the phone IP48. In Samsung’s US test description, the “4” addresses solid particles larger than 1 mm, while the “8” involves submersion in up to 5 feet of fresh water for up to 30 minutes.
Those details describe a controlled test, not an instruction to submerge the phone. IP48 does not mean complete dust exclusion, protection from every liquid, resistance to salt water or chlorinated water, or immunity to impact damage. The rating also does not make the hinge, USB port or microphones invulnerable to contamination.
What to do after the phone gets wet
- Move it away from the liquid and disconnect any charger or accessory.
- Wipe the exterior with a soft, dry cloth and keep the phone closed if that prevents additional fluid from reaching the hinge.
- Samsung advises rinsing residue away and drying the phone after wetting. Use fresh water for residue, not a high-pressure spray.
- Allow the USB port and exterior to dry fully before wired charging. Do not insert objects into the port to speed drying.
- If the phone behaves abnormally, shows a moisture warning that does not clear, or has been exposed to a drop and liquid together, arrange professional service rather than repeatedly powering it on.
What the rating does not answer
There is no independent fold-cycle, drop or repair-rate result in the available material. Armor Aluminum and Victus 2 are Samsung’s construction claims, not evidence that the phone will survive every fall. A case can reduce scratches and some impact energy, but it cannot eliminate the mechanical risks of a folding design. Keep grit away from the hinge, avoid placing pressure on the fold when the phone is partly open, and never force the two halves beyond their designed range.

FlexCam and the cover-screen preview
FlexCam lets you partly fold the phone and use the cover screen to preview and capture a picture. Samsung promotes AI-enabled image features for the camera experience. Samsung also cautions that feature availability can vary by region, operating-system version, device model and carrier. Before relying on a particular editing or shooting tool, install the current software for your model and check which options actually appear in the Camera and Gallery apps. AI processing can alter an image; preserve the original when accuracy matters, such as receipts or records.
How long will Galaxy Z Flip7 receive updates?
Samsung’s support commitment
Samsung’s environmental report states that the Galaxy Z Flip7 receives seven generations of operating-system upgrades and seven years of security updates from the global launch date. “Seven generations” describes major OS releases, while security updates are a separate commitment; neither guarantees that every feature from a newer Galaxy model will appear on this device.

The Android 17 rollout example
Samsung’s update log for model SM-F766B records an Android 17 release dated October 6, 2026, with the September 5, 2026 security patch. This is a model-specific rollout example, not proof that every Galaxy Z Flip7 received the update on that date. Samsung warns that update details can differ by model, country and service provider.

How to compare the Flip7 with another clamshell foldable
A fair comparison needs matched evidence rather than isolated specifications. Use the same reviewer’s battery methodology and workload, compare water and dust ratings together with repair terms, inspect main-, ultra-wide- and selfie-camera results in daylight and low light, and map each manufacturer’s support promise against actual regional update cadence. The available evidence does not include those head-to-head independent tests, so it cannot establish an overall winner.
