Choose the Galaxy Watch8 Classic for its rotating bezel, traditional styling and lower listed U.S. starting price. Choose the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025) if a titanium build, higher stated water-resistance rating and longer Samsung battery estimates matter more. Both have 64GB of storage and a display rated up to 3,000 nits, so those headline specs do little to separate them.

Samsung’s battery figures are estimates, not independent measurements; actual runtime varies with settings and use. The listed prices are U.S. MSRPs from Samsung’s March 2026 price sheet, not current retailer quotes. Specifications and features can vary by market and configuration. Samsung’s Watch8 Classic announcement and U.S. product comparison provide the cited product details; the March 2026 U.S. MSRP sheet lists prices.

Choose the Classic for the rotating bezel and conventional watch design
The Classic’s clearest differentiator is its physical rotating bezel, which gives it a more traditional watch appearance and a tactile way to navigate. Its 46mm stainless-steel case is nominally 1mm smaller than the Ultra’s 47mm case. Samsung lists the Classic at 63.5g without its band and specifies a 1.34-inch Super AMOLED display with a 438 × 438 resolution. It is offered in Black or White.

That makes it the straightforward choice if you want the bezel and do not need the Ultra’s rugged construction or longer stated battery estimates.

Choose the Ultra for outdoor-focused construction and longer battery estimates
The 47mm Ultra uses Grade 4 titanium and a cushion-shaped case, giving it a more rugged, outdoor-oriented design than the Classic. Its 590mAh battery is larger than the Classic’s 445mAh unit. Samsung estimates up to 60 hours with Always On Display enabled, up to 100 hours in Power Saving Mode, or up to 48 hours in Exercise Power Saving Mode. Those modes and settings affect runtime, and the figures should not be read as guaranteed endurance for every user.
The Ultra has a stated 10 ATM water-resistance rating, compared with 5 ATM for the Classic; both are also listed with IP68 and MIL-STD-810H. A higher rating does not make either watch indestructible or suitable for every water, impact or environmental condition. Follow Samsung’s operating and care guidance rather than treating a rating as a promise against damage.

Shared specifications are not a reason to pay more
Samsung lists both watches with 2GB of memory, 64GB of storage and maximum display brightness of up to 3,000 nits. Those shared headline specifications do not establish a meaningful advantage for either model. Your choice is better guided by case design, controls, battery estimates, durability rating and price.

Check phone compatibility and regional feature support
Both watches are Android smartwatches. Samsung’s Watch8 launch announcement specifies Android 12 or later and more than 1.5GB of phone memory for the Watch8 series, and says activation requires a smartphone that supports Google Mobile Services. Samsung says Galaxy Watch works with Samsung and other Android phones, but some capabilities are limited on non-Samsung phones. Availability can also depend on model, country, carrier and setup, so verify the exact phone and features you plan to use before buying.

Health functions—including ECG, heart-rate monitoring, sleep tracking, sleep-apnea risk assessment and blood-pressure tracking—can depend on the watch, phone, market or setup. Samsung says its blood-pressure feature requires an initial and periodic calibration every 28 days using a third-party cuff sold separately; it is not intended to diagnose or treat a condition. These functions are for wellness and fitness, not a substitute for medical advice or diagnosis. See the Samsung U.S. product page for the stated feature conditions.

Watch8 and Watch8 Classic use Samsung’s new band attachment mechanism. Their bands work with each other, but not with bands from previously released Galaxy Watch models. The Ultra uses dedicated bands with a 34mm connection width and is incompatible with earlier Galaxy Watch bands. Confirm that a replacement band is made for the exact watch line; Samsung’s band compatibility guidance describes the systems.
