Anatel homologated Samsung model SM-L705F on June 10, 2024, clearing a regulatory step for its sale in Brazil. The record identified the device by model number rather than retail name; matching regulatory references and Samsung support material linked it to the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Samsung later began Brazilian sales on August 5, 2024, so the certification is a completed pre-launch milestone, not current breaking news.
What Anatel approved
The June 10, 2024 homologation covered model SM-L705F. The Anatel record, as reported by Tecnoblog, did not explicitly give the device the commercial name Galaxy Watch Ultra. The identification is strongly supported by other regulatory references for SM-L705F and Samsung’s Brazilian support page for that model.
The reported filing listed a wireless charger and testing by CPDq. It also named manufacturing facilities in Manaus, Vietnam and South Korea; that does not establish where any particular retail unit was made.
What the filing revealed about connectivity
The homologated configuration was reported to include Wi‑Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth Low Energy, 3G and 4G. That makes SM-L705F the LTE-capable configuration, rather than simply a Bluetooth-only watch. Cellular hardware can allow a watch to connect without a continuous phone connection, but practical standalone service depends on a compatible carrier, eSIM provisioning, an eligible plan and regional support. Anatel approval alone does not confirm activation with any specific Brazilian operator.

What Anatel certification means—and what it does not
Anatel, Brazil’s telecommunications regulator, requires homologation for telecommunications products to be commercialized and used in the country. Its process addresses conformity with applicable technical requirements, including radio operation and safety. See Anatel’s certification overview and its homologation service information.
Approval removed a regulatory barrier; it was not a retail announcement. It did not establish a launch date, price, which colors or configurations would be sold, carrier support, real-world battery life, or the availability of every health feature. Nor is homologation an independent assessment of performance against competing watches.

Brazilian launch followed in August 2024
Samsung later announced the local schedule: pre-registration ran from July 22 through August 4, sales began August 5, and early deliveries started August 8, 2024. These dates are in Samsung Newsroom Brazil’s announcement. The eventual launch confirms that the certification was a useful pre-launch signal, but the sales schedule came from Samsung’s announcement, not from the Anatel record.

Samsung’s current Brazilian Galaxy Watch Ultra product page is labeled for a 2025 product. It lists a 47 mm titanium case, LTE and Bluetooth, dual-frequency GPS (L1 and L5), 2 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, and a display rated up to 3,000 nits. It also lists a 590 mAh battery and claims up to 60 hours with always-on display enabled; that is a manufacturer figure, not a guarantee of typical use.

The same listing gives 10 ATM water resistance, IP68 and MIL-STD-810H durability claims, and describes features including Energy Score, sleep guidance, stress alerts and running coaching. These are current listing details, not information established by the June 2024 certification. The 2025 label also means the page should not be treated as proof that every listed detail applied to the original 2024 launch model.

What Brazilian buyers should verify
- Check the exact model. Confirm the model number and regional SKU rather than relying only on a retailer’s product-year label. Imported regional variants can differ in LTE bands, firmware, warranty and service compatibility.
- Confirm cellular activation before paying extra for LTE. Ask the intended operator whether it supports smartwatch eSIM activation for the exact model and what plan or phone configuration is required. Certification does not guarantee service on every network.
- Check phone and feature compatibility. Confirm Samsung’s current phone and Android requirements. Some health functions can vary by country, paired device and software or regulatory status.
- Interpret battery and durability claims as qualified claims. LTE, GPS, workouts, notifications, health monitoring and display settings affect battery use. Water-resistance and durability ratings are not promises of indestructibility or suitability for every water activity; resistance may decline with wear, impacts, repairs or age.
- Distinguish the 2024 story from current listings. The certification concerned SM-L705F in June 2024. A listing labeled 2025 should be checked by exact SKU and specifications rather than assumed to be identical to the original model.
