The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra’s main changes are its newer Dimensity 9500 processor and Android 17/One UI 9 software, plus Samsung’s claims of faster AI, CPU and GPU performance. The screen and published Wi-Fi model dimensions are essentially unchanged from the Tab S11 Ultra. That makes the S12 a more compelling upgrade for demanding workloads than for owners seeking a visibly different tablet.

How much faster is the S12 Ultra?
Samsung says the S12 Ultra delivers up to 61% faster NPU processing, 19% faster CPU performance and 17% improved GPU power compared with the S11 Ultra. The NPU figure is most relevant to AI tasks; the CPU and GPU claims relate more broadly to processing and graphics-heavy workloads. Treat all three as manufacturer claims: they do not establish that every app will run faster by those percentages, and the cited sources do not provide independent head-to-head benchmark results.

Is the screen or design different?
Not in the headline specifications. Both tablets have a 14.6-inch display with a 2960 × 1848 resolution. Samsung lists the S12 screen at 120Hz; the S11 report excerpt confirms the screen size and resolution but does not state a refresh rate. The S12 and S11 Wi-Fi models share the published 208.5 × 326.3 × 5.1mm dimensions and 692g weight. Samsung lists the S12 5G model at 695g, so compare like-for-like connectivity versions when considering weight.

Should you upgrade from the Tab S11 Ultra?
Upgrade for newer performance and software
The S12 is the more relevant choice if you want the newer processor and launch-generation software, or if Samsung’s stated AI, CPU and GPU gains matter for your particular creative or demanding apps. The available evidence does not show how those claims translate into results in specific applications.
Keep the S11 if you want a major physical change
The screen size and resolution, along with the listed Wi-Fi thickness and weight, are unchanged. If those are the main things you want improved, the S12 specifications cited here do not establish a meaningful change.

Which tablet is the better buy for a new buyer?
Compare the S12’s local price and stock with any discounted S11 in your market. The S12 has a newer platform and software generation, but the screen and listed Wi-Fi chassis figures match. No market-complete current price comparison is established here, and Samsung’s UK specifications should not be treated as a guarantee of local configurations or availability.

What should you know about S12 accessories and storage?
- S Pen: Samsung says it is included with the S12 Ultra.
- Keyboard and covers: Samsung lists S12-specific accessories, including a Pro Keyboard with trackpad, as sold separately. Budget for the keyboard if you want a laptop-like setup, and verify compatibility for the exact S12 model before buying.
- Charger: Samsung’s product information says a device charger is not included.
- microSD: Samsung lists support for cards up to 2TB. That is a capacity ceiling, not a recommendation for any particular card.
