Both the Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ include an S Pen, run Android 17 with One UI 9, and support Samsung DeX. The Ultra is the larger option; the S12+ is smaller and lighter. Samsung presents either as a laptop-like productivity device, but says some specialized software may still require a laptop.

Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra vs. S12+: what is different?
The clearest distinction is size. Samsung lists a 14.6-inch screen for the Ultra and a 12.6-inch screen for the S12+. Both are specified with 120 Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays and the MediaTek Dimensity 9500. The U.S. announcement gives the following comparable figures:

These are Samsung-announced specifications and starting prices for the U.S.; configurations and specifications can vary by market. Samsung’s cited announcement does not establish every screen-resolution, memory, or storage configuration in one universally applicable comparison.

Choose the Ultra if the larger working area is your priority and you are comfortable with its greater Wi-Fi-model weight and higher announced starting price. The S12+ is the smaller, lighter option. Those differences do not establish which will perform better in a particular app or workflow.
Do both tablets include an S Pen?
Yes. Samsung says an S Pen is included with both tablets. Its global announcement specifies that the included pen does not support Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), so do not expect BLE-dependent remote actions from that S Pen.

Which keyboard works with the S12 series?
Samsung lists two keyboard options for the series: the Pro Keyboard and Book Cover Keyboard Slim. Samsung’s U.S. laptop-like productivity description pairs the Ultra with a Pro Keyboard and trackpad. Its global announcement presents the Pro Keyboard as the more structured setup and the Slim as the lighter, more flexible keyboard-cover option.
Before buying, check the exact tablet model and regional product listing: Samsung’s materials do not establish that every listing or regional SKU has the same fit. The U.S. announcement also described a limited-time 30% discount on either named keyboard with purchase of an S12-series tablet. That was a launch-period offer; its availability and eligibility should be checked with Samsung before relying on it.

Can the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra replace a laptop?
Samsung’s answer is that the Ultra’s 14.6-inch display, Pro Keyboard with trackpad, DeX, and apps such as Photoshop, Notability, and Clip Studio Paint provide laptop-like productivity. Samsung also cautions that certain specialized software may still require a laptop. That is the manufacturer’s positioning, not a result of independent workflow testing; whether a tablet can replace your laptop depends on the specific applications, peripherals, and work you need to do.
Samsung India makes a similar portability claim for the S12+ paired with the Book Cover Keyboard Slim and DeX. This is a claim on Samsung’s India-market page, not a universal or independently tested conclusion about every region or workflow.

What software and update support does Samsung announce?
Samsung lists Android 17 and One UI 9 for the tablets. It also promises support for up to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. The announcement does not establish an end-of-support calendar date or mean every feature or update will arrive simultaneously in every region.

Do connectivity and accessories vary by region?
Yes. Samsung’s U.S. announcement lists Wi-Fi 7 for the Ultra and Wi-Fi 6E for the S12+. Its global announcement lists 5G, Wi-Fi 7, and Wi-Fi 6E across the series. These are not interchangeable universal specifications: check the exact market and Wi-Fi or cellular configuration before choosing a model.
Samsung also names a Book Cover and an anti-reflecting screen protector among series accessories. Confirm compatibility for the exact tablet before ordering. The accessory names alone do not establish that every regional version fits every S12-series model.
U.S. launch timing and price
Samsung’s U.S. page says the tablets will be available starting October 7, 2026. Its announced U.S. starting prices are $1,399.99 for the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and $1,199.99 for the S12+. Because the stated availability date is in the future as of October 4, 2026, these should be read as announced launch details rather than confirmation that either tablet is already on sale. Check Samsung’s U.S. listing for current availability, configuration pricing, and offer terms.
