A tablet-only price can be misleading. The usable setup is the tablet plus its compatible pen, and often a protective case. If you need a keyboard for essays or desktop-style work, add that too, but keep the keyboard cost separate from the basic note-taking comparison.

- Check the retailer’s “in the box” list for a pen. Do not infer inclusion from a product photograph or from another country’s listing.

Limitations to weigh

REDMI Pad 2 Pro: a large display and battery, but budget for the pen
