There is no official Galaxy S27+ or Galaxy S27 Ultra camera specification to compare yet. As of October 18, 2026, Samsung has not published an S27 announcement, product page, release date, price or camera sheet. The most useful guide today is a clearly labeled S26 baseline: the documented Galaxy S26+ is a simpler three-camera system, while the Galaxy S26 Ultra adds a 200MP main sensor and two telephoto cameras. Those S26 specifications show the likely decision factors, but they are not S27 specifications.
What is confirmed about the Galaxy S27+ and S27 Ultra
Samsung’s official newsroom and current US phone catalog do not list a Galaxy S27+ or Galaxy S27 Ultra as of October 18, 2026. No official S27 camera resolution, aperture, zoom range, video mode, battery capacity, dimensions, weight, price or availability has been published. Any article or social post presenting those details as settled specifications is therefore making an unverified claim until Samsung issues a new announcement or product page.

This matters because the model names invite an easy but unsafe assumption: that an S27 phone will simply repeat the S26 camera layout. Samsung could retain, reduce or expand any camera component. The S26 comparison below is a current reference point, not a leak or forecast.
The current documented baseline: Galaxy S26+ versus Galaxy S26 Ultra
Samsung Electronics’ February 25, 2026 announcement documents the following camera hardware. Samsung’s S26 Ultra product page supplies the Ultra apertures and front-camera specification shown below.

| Feature | Galaxy S26+ | Galaxy S26 Ultra | What this tells an S27 buyer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main (wide) camera | 50MP | 200MP, F1.4 | The S26 Ultra has much higher stated resolution and a documented wide aperture; S27 values are not stated. |
| Ultra-wide camera | 12MP | 50MP, F1.9 | The Ultra offers four times the listed pixel count; no S27 ultra-wide specification is stated. |
| Telephoto cameras | 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom | 50MP telephoto with 5x optical and 10x optical-quality zoom, plus 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom | The Ultra has two dedicated telephoto focal lengths; the Plus has one. |
| Other zoom listed by Samsung | 2x optical-quality zoom | 10x optical-quality zoom in addition to the 5x optical lens | “Optical-quality” is Samsung’s label for a processed or cropped zoom mode, not another physical lens. |
| Video figures published in the February 2026 announcement | 4K at 60fps and 8K at 30fps | No separate Ultra figures are stated in the specification details cited here | Do not assume an S27 video mode from the S26+ figure. |
| Selfie camera | Not stated in the cited S26 specifications | 12MP, F2.2 | The S27 front-camera hardware remains unknown. |
| Battery | 4,900mAh | 5,000mAh | These are S26 capacities, not evidence of S27 battery size or camera endurance. |
The practical split is straightforward: S26+ gives you a main camera, an ultra-wide and a 3x telephoto; S26 Ultra gives you higher-resolution main and ultra-wide sensors plus dedicated 3x and 5x telephoto cameras. That is why the Ultra is the current choice for longer-range and higher-resolution flexibility. It does not prove that the S27 Ultra will use the same arrangement.
What the S26 split means when you take pictures
Main-camera detail and low-light headroom
The S26 Ultra’s 200MP F1.4 wide camera has two documented advantages on paper: substantially more native resolution and a wide aperture. A wider aperture can admit more light and create more latitude for shutter speed or noise control, although the final image still depends on sensor size, stabilization, software processing and the scene. Samsung has not published the corresponding S26+ aperture in the cited specifications, so a precise low-light hardware comparison for the Plus cannot be made from those figures alone.
For S27, look for both resolution and aperture rather than treating megapixels as a complete quality score. A higher pixel count can help with cropping in bright light, but it does not by itself establish better night photos. Confirm whether Samsung gives each model the same stabilization hardware and processing features before drawing a low-light conclusion.

The documented S26+ ultra-wide is 12MP, while the S26 Ultra uses a 50MP F1.9 ultra-wide. The Ultra therefore offers more recorded pixels for landscapes, architecture and group scenes, and its listed aperture is part of the low-light specification. The difference may matter most when you crop an ultra-wide image or need to retain fine texture across a broad frame.

There is no S27 ultra-wide resolution or aperture to evaluate yet. A future announcement should be checked for sensor resolution, aperture, autofocus and stabilization rather than relying on the Ultra name alone.
Telephoto reach and the 5x question
The S26+ has one 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. Samsung also lists 2x optical-quality zoom, but that mode should not be counted as a second telephoto lens. The S26 Ultra has a 10MP 3x telephoto and a separate 50MP 5x telephoto, with 10x optical-quality zoom listed for the latter. Two physical focal lengths give the Ultra more flexibility for portraits, distant subjects and framing between normal and long reach.
Does the Galaxy S27+ have a 5x telephoto? That is not known. Samsung has not published an S27+ camera sheet. The only defensible current reference is that the S26+ does not have a dedicated 5x optical telephoto, while the S26 Ultra does. Wait for an official S27 specification before treating a 5x claim as fact.

Optical zoom versus optical-quality zoom
Optical zoom comes from a dedicated lens and focal length. “Optical-quality zoom” is Samsung’s own label for a mode intended to preserve quality through sensor cropping and processing; it is not equivalent to adding another optical lens. When comparing S27 models, count the physical telephoto cameras first, then examine the listed optical-quality steps and the maximum digital or AI-assisted zoom separately.

Video
Samsung’s February 2026 announcement explicitly documents 4K recording at 60 frames per second and 8K at 30 frames per second for the S26+. The cited specification summary does not provide a separate Ultra video list, so it would be wrong to use the Plus figures as an Ultra specification or to infer S27 modes.
For an eventual S27 comparison, verify resolution and frame rate together. Also check whether a mode works on every camera, whether stabilization is available at that setting, and whether recording limits or regional variants apply. Samsung has not supplied those S27 details.
Front camera and portraits
The S26 Ultra product page lists a 12MP F2.2 selfie camera. The cited S26+ specifications do not state its front-camera resolution or aperture. Consequently, there is no complete S26 front-camera comparison here and no basis for predicting an S27 selfie upgrade. Buyers who prioritize video calls or self-portraits should wait for the official front-camera entry, not assume that the rear-camera hierarchy applies to selfies.

The Ultra approach is the better fit for wildlife, sports, stage performances, travel details and any subject that regularly sits far from you. Its documented S26 configuration combines 3x and 5x optical telephoto cameras, plus higher-resolution main and ultra-wide sensors. That gives you more native focal-length choices and more pixels to work with before resorting to heavy digital enlargement.

This is a statement about the current S26 hardware, not a recommendation to buy an unannounced S27 Ultra. If Samsung changes the S27 telephoto layout, the conclusion must be revisited using the new official sheet.
Choose the Plus-style system for a simpler everyday kit
The S26+ layout covers the common progression from main camera to ultra-wide to 3x telephoto without adding a second long lens. It is the simpler current option for people who mostly photograph family, food, documents, pets and nearby travel scenes and do not routinely need 5x optical reach. Fewer cameras can also make lens selection less complicated, but Samsung has not published S27 body dimensions, weight or ergonomics, so size and handling cannot be compared yet.
If low light is your priority
The S26 Ultra has a documented F1.4 main aperture and F1.9 ultra-wide aperture. Those figures provide more concrete low-light hardware information than the cited S26+ sheet. They still do not constitute a camera test: no named independent laboratory score, battery-runtime figure or third-party comparison is available here. For S27, require official aperture and stabilization details before deciding that one model will perform better at night.
If video is your priority
The S26+ is officially documented for 4K/60fps and 8K/30fps. That makes it a known starting point for high-resolution video, but it does not answer questions about S27 stabilization, HDR, microphone behavior, storage limits or which lenses support each mode. A video-focused buyer should compare the complete S27 recording table after launch rather than extrapolating from still-camera megapixels.

What remains unknown for a real S27+ versus S27 Ultra comparison
The following fields are specifically important to a camera buyer and are still open:
- Primary sensor resolution, physical sensor size and aperture for both models.
- Ultra-wide resolution, aperture, autofocus and stabilization.
- The number of telephoto cameras, their optical focal lengths and their sensor resolutions.
- Which zoom steps are optical, optical-quality, cropped or AI-assisted.
- Low-light stabilization and whether stabilization works across all video modes.
- Video resolutions, frame rates, HDR options, recording limits and lens availability at each setting.
- Front-camera resolution, aperture and video capabilities.
- Body thickness and weight, which affect how practical a larger camera system is to carry.
- Battery capacity and real-world endurance; neither can be inferred from camera specifications.
- Price, software-support period and regional model availability.
Until Samsung fills those fields, a price-to-camera-value verdict for S27 would be speculation. The same applies to claims that one model is lighter, lasts longer or has better stabilization.
How to check the S27 announcement when it arrives
- Start with Samsung’s official newsroom announcement. Confirm the announcement date and make sure the page names Galaxy S27+ or Galaxy S27 Ultra, not an S26 model.
- Open the model-specific product pages. Record every camera’s megapixel count, aperture, focal length and stabilization information. Do not rely on a headline that mentions only the main sensor.
- Separate lenses from zoom modes. Mark each dedicated optical telephoto and list optical-quality or digital steps in a different column.
- Read the video table. Note resolution, frame rate, stabilization and which camera supports each combination.
- Check regional pages and model numbers. Availability, memory configurations and camera features can vary by market; a US listing should not automatically be treated as worldwide availability.
- Record price and support terms from the same region. A launch promotion or carrier offer is not the same as the phone’s recurring list price.
- Look for independent testing only after retail software is available. Official specifications describe hardware and modes; they do not replace controlled image-quality or battery testing.
Buying advice while the S27 details are absent
If you need a phone now, the S26 comparison gives you a clear, documented choice: the S26 Ultra is the current Samsung option for two telephoto focal lengths, 5x optical reach and higher-resolution main and ultra-wide cameras; the S26+ is the current simpler option with a 3x telephoto and the officially listed 4K/60 and 8K/30 video modes. Keep those labels exact when shopping, because neither phone should be presented as an S27 model.
If you can wait, postpone a camera-specific purchase decision until Samsung publishes the S27 specifications. At that point, compare the new figures against the S26 table above and check whether the extra telephoto, aperture or video capability is worth the price and physical trade-offs in your region. No official S27 price, launch date or regional availability has been established as of October 18, 2026.
Bottom line
There is no responsible way to declare an S27+ or S27 Ultra camera winner yet. The current documented pattern is clear enough to guide expectations: a Plus model with one 3x telephoto is the simpler setup, while an Ultra model with 3x and 5x telephotos and higher-resolution sensors is the more flexible choice for zoom photography. Treat that as an S26 reference, and replace it with Samsung’s official S27 camera sheet as soon as one exists.
