Samsung lists a 5,000mAh battery. Samsung’s 2026 Q1 interim report gives the phone’s dimensions as 163.6 x 78.1 x 7.9mm and its weight as 214g. Those measurements are useful when judging a rumored larger battery: adding capacity could affect thickness, weight, internal layout or thermal behavior, but no S27 dimensions have been reported reliably enough to quantify that trade-off.
Will the S27 Ultra finally have a bigger battery?
A larger battery is the strongest recurring S27 rumor. Tom’s Guide reported leaks ranging from more than 6,000mAh to about 5,700mAh, while Android Central repeated the 5,700mAh figure and described silicon-carbon chemistry. The reports conflict on the exact capacity, so the defensible conclusion is that leaks point to a larger silicon-carbon battery, with reported capacities around 5,700mAh and possibly above 6,000mAh.

What silicon-carbon could change
Silicon-carbon cells can provide more energy within a similar physical volume than conventional lithium-ion designs, at least in principle. That could let Samsung increase endurance without making the phone proportionally larger, or use the extra capacity to offset power demands from a faster processor, brighter display and more intensive on-device AI. Those are engineering possibilities, not measured S27 results.

Capacity alone does not establish battery life. Endurance also depends on the processor’s efficiency, modem behavior, display settings, camera use, gaming loads, background software and network conditions. A 5,700mAh phone would have 14 percent more nominal capacity than a 5,000mAh phone; a battery above 6,000mAh would exceed the S26 figure by at least 20 percent. Neither percentage predicts the number of hours you will actually gain.
Charging and Qi2
The available S27 reports mention possible Qi2 charging. “Possible” is important: there is no confirmed S27 charging standard, charging speed or accessory requirement. The supplied S26 material does not state a charging wattage or Qi2 support either, so this comparison cannot establish a verified charging advantage for either model.

How much faster could the S27 Ultra be?
Leak reports point to a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro for Galaxy and LPDDR6 memory. These would represent a newer application processor and memory generation than the S26 platform, but Samsung has not confirmed either component in the available sources.
Likely benefits if the reports are accurate
A newer chip could improve sustained gaming performance, image processing, artificial-intelligence workloads and modem efficiency. LPDDR6 could increase memory bandwidth or reduce energy use in supported workloads. The practical gains would depend on Samsung’s thermal limits, software tuning and the exact regional configuration.

Do not treat a processor name as proof of a specific benchmark score. A phone can deliver a higher short burst and still throttle under a long camera recording or gaming session. The useful questions after launch will be whether the S27 maintains performance, runs cooler, improves battery life at the same workload and adds capabilities that the S26 cannot receive through software.
What S26 owners should consider
If your S26 Ultra already handles your apps, games and camera processing smoothly, a faster chip alone may not justify replacing it. The upgrade case becomes stronger if Samsung ties new AI features, advanced video processing or longer sustained performance specifically to the newer hardware. Those software requirements are not established yet.
Display changes: newer OLED, but no settled numbers
Some S27 coverage discusses a newer OLED panel, higher brightness and a higher refresh rate. The available reports do not provide corroborated figures, and Samsung has not published a final S27 display specification. The S26’s confirmed data point is its 6.9-inch size and built-in Privacy Display.

Peak brightness is often a brief, limited measurement rather than the level maintained across the entire screen. Outdoor readability also depends on automatic brightness behavior, anti-reflective treatment, heat and the content being shown. Refresh-rate claims need similar context: adaptive refresh behavior, minimum refresh rate and power consumption matter as much as the maximum number.
If you are choosing between the phones for outdoor work, wait for measurements that state the test mode and duration. If privacy in public is your priority, verify whether the S27 retains the S26’s built-in Privacy Display and whether it works across the same viewing angles and brightness conditions.
Camera upgrade: a new main sensor versus changed telephoto coverage
Camera reports suggest Samsung may use a 200MP ISOCELL HP6 main sensor in the S27 Ultra. They also describe a redesigned telephoto arrangement, including one scenario in which the dedicated 3x camera changes or disappears. These are leaks, not confirmed specifications.

Main-camera possibilities
A new 200MP sensor could improve detail, low-light capture, autofocus behavior or HDR processing, but the sensor name does not reveal the lens, aperture, stabilization system or image-processing pipeline. Two 200MP cameras can produce very different results. Independent comparisons will need to test motion, skin tones, night scenes, 8K video, stabilization and shutter response rather than relying on resolution.

Why losing a 3x camera could matter
The S26 provides dedicated 2x, 3x, 5x and 10x optical zoom steps through its camera system. If Samsung removes or changes the dedicated 3x module, portraits and medium-distance subjects could rely more heavily on cropping, a different telephoto lens or computational zoom. That may be beneficial if the replacement sensor is larger or more versatile, but it could also make a familiar focal length less consistent.
Photographers should therefore compare focal-length coverage, not just megapixels. Check whether the S27 offers a true optical position near 3x, how it handles portrait mode, and whether the 5x and 10x positions remain. The rumor does not establish those answers.
Video considerations
The S26 specification sheet lists 8K video at 30fps. No S27 video modes are confirmed in the available material. A newer processor could improve encoding, stabilization or HDR, but those improvements must be demonstrated in final software. If 8K capture is important, compare recording duration, heat, storage requirements and stabilization after launch rather than assuming the newer sensor guarantees better video.

The S26 Ultra launched with Samsung’s flagship Galaxy AI features and the built-in Privacy Display. Choose based on risk tolerance

- Display: confirm size, resolution, adaptive refresh range, sustained brightness and whether Privacy Display remains integrated.
- Camera map: list every sensor, focal length and optical zoom step, especially the presence or absence of a dedicated 3x camera.
- Video: compare 8K frame rates, stabilization, HDR modes, recording limits and heat behavior with the S26’s 8K/30fps specification.
- Physical fit: confirm dimensions, weight, camera-bump shape and accessory compatibility before reusing S26 cases or protectors.
