That would be 4 g heavier than Samsung’s official 214 g, 7.9 mm Galaxy S26 Ultra specification—but Samsung has not confirmed the S27 figure or explained any increase. The report points to a larger silicon-carbon battery or built-in Qi2-related magnets as possibilities, not established causes.
What the reported weight would mean
Tom’s Guide reported on September 30, 2026, citing leaker Ice Universe, that the Galaxy S27 Ultra could weigh 218 g and retain a thickness of 7.9 mm. Samsung’s published Galaxy S26 Ultra specifications are 214 g and 7.9 mm. If the leak is accurate, the S27 Ultra would be 4 g heavier at the same stated thickness. That is a conditional comparison, not a confirmed year-over-year change.

Why the S27 Ultra might be heavier, according to the report
Tom’s Guide describes two possible explanations. Neither has been confirmed by Samsung, and the report does not establish how much weight either would add.

A higher-capacity silicon-carbon battery
The report mentions a rumored 5,700 mAh silicon-carbon battery as one possible reason for the reported weight. For context, Samsung lists the S26 Ultra battery at 5,000 mAh typical capacity and states a rated minimum capacity of 4,855 mAh. Samsung explains that typical capacity is an estimate. The rumored S27 capacity and chemistry are not official specifications; even if a larger capacity is confirmed, capacity alone would not show how much longer the phone lasts in real use.
Built-in magnets for Qi2-related charging
The same report says Samsung may add magnets to enable a fuller Qi2 wireless-charging experience without a special case. This, too, is speculation: Samsung has not confirmed built-in magnets for the S27 Ultra, and no weight for such components has been established. Samsung also cautions that functions can vary with accessories, covers, devices from other brands, and some Samsung wearables. Any future charger or mount should be checked for compatibility with the finished phone and the specific accessory model.

What Samsung’s previous Ultra models show—and don’t show
Samsung’s first-quarter 2026 interim report lists the S25 Ultra at 218 g and 8.2 mm, and the S26 Ultra at 214 g and 7.9 mm. Samsung says the S26 Ultra reached its thinner profile through an “optimized mounting structure and lighter components.” That is useful evidence that Samsung treats weight and thickness as engineering trade-offs; it does not explain the rumored S27 Ultra figure.
The comparison also shows why a single weight rumor cannot tell the whole design story. The S26 was lighter and thinner than the S25, while the reported S27 figure would reverse the weight direction without changing the reported thickness. What to check if Samsung confirms the change
A heavier phone is not automatically a worse phone, but a rumored capacity or charging feature is not proof of a benefit either. If Samsung announces the S27 Ultra, useful comparisons will include independently measured weight and thickness, confirmed battery capacity and real-world battery life, charging standards and speeds, and accessory compatibility. Until then, the only firm baseline is the S26 Ultra’s published specification; the S27’s mass and any reason for it remain unconfirmed.
